SoCal Inland Empire's Top 10 Class of 2013 prospects.....led by Warrior DE Siaki Cravens' younger brother Su'a....and Upland's Joe Mathis.....and Rancho Cucamonga's Tahaan Goodman and Chris Hawkins....as well as Riverside JW North's Marcus Baugh....all now with scholarship offers from UH.

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/pre ... s-for-2013
Su’a Cravens, LB/RB, Vista Murrieta – Cravens has been offered by virtually anyone and everyone, beginning as early as the spring of his freshman year. He began his high school career as a freshman cornerback at Temecula Valley, switched to strong safety as a sophomore at Vista Murrieta and added running back to his resume last season, while playing more of a roving outside linebacker on defense. It’s anybody’s guess where Cravens will end up playing when all is said and done, and he’s providing few clues of his preferences, but it’s all but guaranteed the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder will play wherever and anywhere he wants.

Joe Mathis, DL, Upland – The Highlanders inked four players to Pac-12 Conference scholarships this week, and Mathis is lined up to be the leader of next year’s class. Mathis averaged 6.1 tackles a game, with six sacks, two caused fumbles and two recoveries. The 6-4, 250-pounder committed to Washington midway through his junior season but look for him to keep his options open heading into his senior year. UCLA, Oregon State, Colorado and Indiana have also reportedly offered.

Marcus Baugh, TE, J.W. North – At 6-5, 225, Baugh was a handful on both sides of the ball. He caught 30 passes for 528 yards and seven touchdowns and registered seven sacks on defense. UCLA had already offered Baugh, while Michigan is showing serious interest as well. USC is also reportedly kicking the tires and Baugh has let it be known the Trojans are an early favorite.

Chris Hawkins, DB, Rancho Cucamonga – A lot of eyes will be on the Cougars secondary next season. Hawkins, a shutdown cornerback, had just two interceptions last season but turned enough heads to earn first-team All-Inland Division honors. Scouts have taken notice, as he has received offers this week alone from UCLA and Boise State. Northwestern and Washington have also come to the table with early offers.

Tahaan Goodman, DB, Rancho Cucamonga – Goodman, a 6-2, 190-pound safety, was also offered by the Bruins and Boise State this week, with San Diego Sate also joining his early list. Look for Goodman and Hawkins to possibly end up as a package deal somewhere in the Pac-12.

Su'a will be one of the top prospects in the nation next season. You would think his UH connection gives the Warriors a small chance, but you can bet the powers of college football will be putting the full-court press on this kid.

Even if not one of his official recruiting trips, I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Su'a come down to Hawaii to support Siaki on the Dec. 1 Senior Night home game against South Alabama and mabye even stick around for the annual banquet the next day....IF his team (Vista Murrieta High School) is not still playing in the CIF playoffs. I know that he's attended some of UH's road games in Cali & Nevada the past 2 seasons.

Su'a Cravens can lean on rich family tree

MURRIETA -- USC wants him as a halfback, Oklahoma hopes to slot him at linebacker or strong safety. Notre Dame, UCLA, Stanford or Boise State? They might feel lucky just to lure Su’a Cravens on campus for a visit.

These are just a few of the options for the nation’s hottest recruit in the class of 2013.

Cravens, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior for Vista Murrieta High School in Southwest Riverside County, already claims 17 scholarship offers from major colleges across the country.

Over the next 12 to 15 months, likely right up until National Signing Day, Cravens will certainly hear from a lot more. Weekly phone calls, in-house visits, on-campus meet-and greets. A lucky few might even earn one of those five official visits.

Talk about a lot to digest for a kid who won’t turn 17 until next summer.

His two closest advisers are his father, Kevin Cravens, and older brother, Siaki, a junior defensive lineman for the University of Hawaii.

Siaki’s recruiting experience began when he was one of the top tight ends in the Inland Empire during his senior season at Temecula Valley High in 2007. One of the schools that showed interest was Utah, coached by Kyle Whittingham, whose sister is married to Kevin Cravens’ younger brother, Ryan.

Siaki committed to the Utes as a slot receiver, but the coaching staff switched him to middle linebacker the first day of practice.

“For a kid who had never played defense before, that was a total shock to him,” Kevin Cravens said.

After redshirting his first season, Siaki transferred to Long Beach City College, played a year and then signed with Hawaii. Siaki regularly counsels Su’a on how to navigate through the sometimes murky recruiting process.

“He always tells me not to get too caught up in trying to believe what every recruiter says,” Su’a said. “I always keep my ears open for my dad and my brother. They always have good things to say.”

Su'a's sister, Malia, also attends Hawaii on a women’s basketball scholarship. The Rainbows were the first school to offer Su'a, but family ties won’t have a bearing on which school he ultimately chooses.

“If I went to Hawaii, it would be because it’s a good fit for me,’ he said.
http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school/foo ... avens#more
ESPNHS: With such a strong history of football in your family, from your grandfather playing at BYU and now your brother Siaki Cravens playing on the defensive line at Hawaii and cousin Colby Cameron playing QB at Louisiana Tech, what has their influence been on your game as you've grown up?

Cravens: I've always loved the game of football. It's something that is just in my family, and my love for it has been natural since I was little. The greatest influence on my passion for the game was watching my older brother playing and seeing him make big plays and scoring touchdowns and I would say to myself that I wanted to do that one day. The passion that my father and my brother have for the game has always been there, and I share that with them.

South LA County's top 13 prospects for Class of 2013.....

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/pre ... een-for-13

Even with all the offers to SoCal IE prospects (7 thus far), I'd still be surprised if UH didn't try to actively recruit at least some of these South Bay & Long Beach prospects....especially Ross, Coleman, and/or Price.
WR John Ross, Long Beach Jordan -- The 5-foot-10 Ross was named the Moore League co-player of the year last season after accumulating 994 receiving yards and returning six kickoffs for touchdowns. On defense he intercepted five passes, returning two for scores. Ross has offers from UCLA and Washington, but many more are expected to follow suit.

RB Anterio Bateman, Gardena Serra -- Bateman, an early ESPNU 150 watch list member, figures to be Serra's top weapon next season. An ankle injury forced him to miss action late in 2011, yet he still surpassed the 900-yard plateau and averaged more than nine yards per carry. Health will be key for a successful campaign this fall.

RB Gerard Wicks, Long Beach Poly -- Wicks shares the carries with Manusamoa Luuga and Marcus Lewis, so his numbers may not be as flashy as those of other running backs. He could emerge as the go-to guy for the Jackrabbits, especially with the departures of Arizona State-bound receivers Richard Smith and Josiah Blandin. UCLA appears to be the early front-runner in Wicks' recruitment.

DT R.J. Coleman, Mira Costa -- Last season Coleman had the task of filling the void left by the graduation of J.R. Tavai (USC) and he didn't disappoint. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Coleman is on the ESPNU 150 early watch list, and promises to be one of the top players in the South Bay.

DB David Price, Long Beach Poly -- The 6-foot-1 safety is expected to spearhead a solid Poly defense that loses lineman Alonzo Williams (Texas A&M) and linebackers Salamo Fiso (ASU) and Matthew Rowe (ASU) to graduation. Price, an ESPNU 150 early watch list member, holds an offer from Southern Methodist.

WR A.J. Richardson, Harbor City Narbonne -- As the favorite target of Troy Williams, Richardson should get his share of opportunities every week. Gauchos coach Manual Douglas also finds other ways to get the ball in Richardson's hands -- and for good reason. He averaged more than 15 yards per reception last season.

Saint Louis' Koehler listed as the nation's top guard
By Ferd Lewis
POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Feb 09, 2012

Reeve Koehler of Saint Louis School has been named the top college football prospect in the nation at offensive guard for 2013 by Rivals.com.

Koehler, a 6-foot-3, 280 pounder, was listed at No. 67 among the Rivals.com Top 100 players overall in the country for 2013 announced today.

Hawaii, Washington and Utah are listed among the schools already recruiting Koehler.
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/co ... ID=1328942
Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis offensive lineman Reeve Koehler is the nation's No. 1 guard and checks in at No. 67 overall.

"The thing I like most about Koehler is he dominates on every snap and really makes it known by his play that he's not going to give an inch to anybody. Koehler has great size, most of his film is at offensive guard, but he can move well enough to play tackle as well," said Gorney of the 6-foot-3, 280-pounder. "Really, the best thing about him is he doesn't just like moving people out of the way. Koehler gets his hands on people and moves them where he wants."

Subject: So who are the future stars in Hawaii HS football
getBIG wrote:jus got word that UH offered a scholarship to AIEA DE UALESI SALE. he's also getting recruited from numerous Pac-12 schools, but UH is the first to offer him a full ride. he would be a great addition to the Warriors. he has the height, speed, and motor to be a great pass rusher at the next level. jus gotta bulk up a little. Sale and Correa are the best defensive ends in the 2013 class and it would be huge if UH can snag these 2.

UH offers scholie to Rancho Cucamonga S Tahaan Goodman (6-2, 190).

Probably a pretty good guess that a Warrior scholie offer to his Rancho Cucamonga teammate CB Chris Hawkins (6-0, 170) isn't too far off.
http://hawaii.scout.com/a.z?s=219&p=8&c=1&nid=6009284
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-L3zA5RI-E

Both Goodman and Hawkins are considered among the Top 10 Class of 2013 prospects in SoCal's Inland Empire....where RGM originally hails from....along with current Warriors DE Siaki Cravens and DB John Hardy-Tuliau....as well as other UH prospects (Siaki's younger brother Su'a and Upland's Joe Mathis).
http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/pre ... s-for-2013
Tahaan Goodman, DB, Rancho Cucamonga – Goodman, a 6-2, 190-pound safety, was also offered by the Bruins and Boise State this week, with San Diego Sate also joining his early list. Look for Goodman and Hawkins to possibly end up as a package deal somewhere in the Pac-12.

In any case, probably all longshots at best to become Warriors considering all the major BCS offers that they all each already have.
