Favorite University of Hawaii Point Guard of All-Time
Who do you consider to be your favorite(s) PG of all-time in University of Hawaii basketball? Keep in mind that this is not necessarily who you consider to be the "best" or "top" PG, but rather who was the most memorable to you?

I have to support the local bruddah and say Alika Smith.
What was the deal with him and AC? Were they both considered PGs in that system? Or was one technically a SG?

I always thought AC was the point and Alika was the SG in that combination.Uluwatus wrote:I have to support the local bruddah and say Alika Smith.

Most memorable? For me, it was Jerome Freeman. Little guy (relatively) could sure take it to the rim.T-Bone wrote:Who do you consider to be your favorite(s) PG of all-time in University of Hawaii basketball? Tom Henderson: Sporting News first team all america. 1972 Olympian,..NBA champ with Washington Bullets with Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld. His talent was 2 or 3 levels above his UH teammates...yet was classy guy.
AC Carter: High school drop out, however picked himself off the ground and made it to NBA, still there, and gave back to UH check in the thousands of dollars. Made team better.
Troy Bowe: great handles, rarely turn over ball, tough son of a gun. Hope he is okay and is doing well.
Jerome Freeman: great handles, mister excitement. He helped make the Fab Five run and gun.
The late great Reggie Carter: Only one year as freshman, was leading the country in Free throw shooting at over 90 per cent at a time. great assist man, faster than his slow big men. After seventies scandal transferred to St. Johns and was drafted and played with NY Knicks. short career. Death cut his life shortly however. A great talent
Really for Hawaii to have had Henderson,Carter,Bowe,Freeman,Carter running the point...(also Mark Campbell, totally unselfish team player..lead guard)is simply amazing.
I ain't giving up on our guards, I believe and hope they are just coming around, defensively , running plays, protecting the ball, winning games with last second shots, and even now securing wins with outstanding free throw shooting, kudos to Hiram, Dwain and Jeremy...brothers keep improving....play smart, hard and together.!!
Hopefully you will get to NCAA, NIT or Vegas tournament.
Hey guys...one can hope and dream, can't I?
sure I can.
UH bball fan for always!

I liked Mark Campbell. He was a solid player and one of the tallest PGs we had at 6'5".

How about Mel Azama, she could ball.

I really liked Troy Bowe the most for some reason. It may have been that whole era of UH basketball was so exciting, but Troy was such a cool guy and a great PG as well.

I really took a liking to Thomas Louden as a kid... thought he was so cool.

Alika was a SG who could competently sub as a PG when AC went to the bench, which was rare.Uluwatus wrote:I have to support the local bruddah and say Alika Smith.
