Favorite University of Hawaii Quarterback of All-Time
Favorite University of Hawaii Quarterback of All-Time
Who do you consider to be your favorite(s) QB of all-time in University of Hawaii football? Keep in mind that this is not necessarily who you consider to be the "best" or "top" QB, but rather who was the most memorable to you?
Re: Favorite University of Hawaii Quarterback of All-Time
Had to be Colt for me. Colt not only dominated on the field, but he was a very likable guy. He didn't seem full of himself when I met him.
I thought Timmy Chang was the man as well. Lots of people had negative things to say about him personally. When I met him, he was a nice guy and didn't once seem annoyed with fans. He may have thrown a lot of INTs and all, but he played his best and had a hand in where UH is now.

My favorite of all time is Colt. He was a great player and led UH to it's first BCS bowl game. He put Hawaii on the map in ways no one else could. Like noted above, he was also a cool guy off the field.
Timmy Chang is up there as well. He didn't have the WR's Colt had but he did the best he could w/ the cards he had. He is the all time NCAA career passing champion and that is no fluke. Like noted above, he sort of set up Colt and the dread heads for success in the future.
Michael Carter was also one of my favorite all-time QB's. At that time he was one of the only QB's ever to throw for 1,000 yds and pass for 1,000 yds in a season. No doubt one of the best dual threat college QB's of all time. He led Hawaii to it's first mainland bowl win over Illinois in the Holiday bowl. That 11-2 team was one of the best in UH history.
Others receiving votes: Nick Rolovich, Dan Robinson, Garrett Gabriel.

Jeff Duva.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.

Colt would be at the top for me just for what he did for UH football and his love for the state. But I also took a particular liking to Raphel Cherry as well. I don't know what it was exactly... maybe his athleticism or his name or maybe I was just at an impressionable age and he was definitely one of my favorite UH players.

would have to be colt for me, he stayed back for senior running the risk of dropping his draft stock(which it did) to take a chance on accomplishing something special.

Alex Kaloi is the local dentist who played quarterback for UH. Dan Robinson is also a dentist on the mainland.madeinhawaii wrote:Okay.. who's the one that's a local dentist now?

There was something personable about Alex Kaloi. Dan Robinson, too. I'm sure their businesses are flourishing..

Colt. did more for this island than any other QB and it was like having a more accurate Rolo for three years.
When in doubt, burn it down.

Wasn't there also a Quarterback turned doctor from the early years... Last name I think starts with an "M" who has really contributed a lot to UH athletics over the decades. I think he's in the UH Hall of Fame as well. I'd say ... "All-Time" means you have to measure what they have contributed over the years... this guy may be it... Colt may be the future.

I liked Glenn Freitas and John Hao. They weren't good fits for the offense being run at the time, but they wanted to stay home and play for the fans and they tried their best. If Bryant Moniz's career continues on it's current course, he will be my favorite UH QB of all time. I'm a sucker for a good story.
