One new picture! Two 'Alien' sequels! So much confusion!

By Drew McWeeny

Neill Blomkamp is making an 'Alien' film, Ridley Scott is making an 'Alien' film, and we're just plain confused by the whole thing. However, Blomkamp's got pulse
rifles, so that's good.

I'm really confused about all things "Alien" right now.

Ridley Scott's spent much of his time on the "Martian" press tour talking about how he's going to be making "Alien: Paradise Lost" as his next
film. At the same time, Neill Blomkamp just dropped an image of a pulse rifle for his "Alien" film, which people are calling "Alien 5" when
they write about it even though it's unclear how the math is going to work by the time it comes out.

I assume there's some sort of narrative plan that makes sense of the fact that the studio is releasing two radically different films set in the
same universe in a fairly tight window of time from two directors who have very different ideas about the series. Right now, both films are
angling for a 2017 release. Could that really happen?

‘Alien: Paradise Lost’ Has Put Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien’ Sequel into Hypersleep

By Matt Goldberg
‎October‎ ‎29, ‎2015

It looked like after Chappie flopped, director Neill Blomkamp was going to will himself into directing a
new Alien film and use concept art shared via social media as his tool for getting his way. And it was
actually working until Ridley Scott turned his attention back to Prometheus 2, now titled “Alien: Paradise Lost”.
That put two Alien movies into development, and it’s not like Blomkamp is ever going to outrank Scott.

Blomkamp acknowledged that there’s nothing much he can do with his movie for the time being even though
Scott is a producer on the untitled Alien sequel. The District 9 director took to Twitter earlier tonight to inform
his followers:

Ridley Scott: 'Alien: Covenant' Is First of 3 Films Before Linking Up With Original 'Alien'

The director revealed details of the 'Alien' origin stories as he begins pre-production on the followup to 'Prometheus' in Australia.

Ridley Scott confirmed that he is planning another two Prometheus sequels to follow Alien: Covenant before the Prometheus storyline
meets up with the original 1979 Alien.

Alien: Covenant and the following two films will be origin stories, answering the “very basic questions posed in Alien: why the alien,
who might have made it and where did it come from?” Scott revealed at a press conference in Sydney where he is starting pre-production
on Covenant, the first sequel to Prometheus.

Michael Fassbender Will Play Two Roles In Alien: Covenant

BY GREGORY WAKEMAN
November ‎27, ‎2015

Fresh off providing us with an update on some of the questions that he’ll be answering with the upcoming
Alien: Covenant, Sir Ridley Scott has once again been talking about the upcoming Prometheus sequel/Alien
prequel. The legendary English director confirmed that Michael Fassbender, who, I think we can all admit,
stole Prometheus thanks to his fantastic performance as David the android, will actually play two roles in
the blockbuster. Which, for an actor of his caliber, could produce scintillating results.

Ridley Scott: Next Alien Movie Will “Have Them All”

By Ben Bussey
December 12, ‎2015

Director Ridley Scott is talking up his next ‘Alien’ movie again, promising that the iconic creations of the first film will be making an appearance.

We hope you’ll forgive us referring to it as ‘the next Alien movie,’ but Scott himself seems indecisive on the matter. At first informally referred
to as ‘Prometheus 2,’ Scott since dubbed it ‘Alien: Paradise Lost,’ before again rechristening it ‘Alien: Covenant.’

Look, when you’ve created one of the most iconic science fiction franchises in film history, you’re allowed these little indulgences.

Aliens' Turns 30: 8 Secrets From the Set Revealed (ABC News)

Thirty years ago today, "Aliens," the much-anticipated sequel to the 1979 hit, "Alien," hit theaters.

However, according to writer/director James Cameron, most people at that time tried to convince him not to make the movie.

After all, they reasoned, any positive elements of the film would be attributed to "Alien" director Ridley Scott, and all the negative parts
would be viewed as Cameron's fault.

30 years after "Aliens," Sigourney Weaver is still leading the charge

(CNN) - Everywhere you looked at San Diego Comic-Con, there was a powerful female character making her mark.

Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the first trailer for "Wonder Woman" to rave reviews. Marvel announced Brie Larson would be taking on
the role of "Captain Marvel" in the studio's first female-led film. And "The Walking Dead" star Danai Gurira joined "Black Panther" as
part of an all-female group of warriors.

More than three decades after Sigourney Weaver first battled space creatures in "Alien," the crusade for more female representation
in action films is finally being won.

(CNN) - Everywhere you looked at San Diego Comic-Con, there was a powerful female character making her mark.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time and, certainly, one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, Aliens is celebrating its
30th anniversary.

Released in theaters on July 18, 1986, James Cameron’s film became an instant classic. A box office hit, it made $85.16 million domestically
and $131.06 million worldwide unadjusted for inflation.

Coming off the back of his iconic performance as Kyle Reese in James Cameron’s The Terminator ($78.37 million domestic unadjusted),
Michael Biehn returned with the director to play Corporal Hicks, another seminal role, for Aliens.
