A Rousing Success for "Jon and Kate Plus Eight!"

9.8M viewers tune in to its Monday Night debut



The numbers are in for Monday Night's show "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" and what a rousing success! 9.8M viewers tuned in to the TLC show with 8 children and an "open marriage." After months of speculating regarding Jon and Kate's marriage and the alleged affairs that took place, the publicity brought ratings gold for the show.

In the debut, the Gosselins acknowledge the rumors of each of them having affairs and Jon defends himself about the alleged affair while Kate defends herself against the talk of her alleged affair with her bodyguard. Their is a quiet tension among the couple. The couple is determined to keep their "marriage mess" away from the children. The main focus of the show was a birthday party thrown at a nearby park and the family's first barbecue at their new home. An otherwise uneventful episode except the curiousity of how Jon and Kate would function despite the circumstances.

As for the the future of their family, Kate says, "I wish I knew." Stay tuned.

Night at the Museum 2 Wins Memorial Day Weekend Box Office Battle!

(canmag.com) Terminator Salvation vs Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian opened at 4,096 theaters, Night at the Museum 2 used its family draw to gross a whopping $70 million. Terminator Salvation came in at second with $53.8 million. The fourth installment in the franchised opened Thursday, and has earned a five-day total of $67.2 million, way below expectations.

Some of Terminator Salvation's shortcomings have been credited to Star Trek, which, thanks to strong word of mouth, dropped a miniscule 49% in its third frame to earn another $29.4 million; making for a total domestic haul of $191 million. In addition, the male audience was sorely missing in L.A. where Lakers playoff games are taking away some of the audience.

Taking the fourth spot was Angels & Demons, which dropped an expected 54% to earn $27.7 million. The sequel has earned $87.8 million domestically and continues to do great overseas.

Also opening over the holiday weekend, the Wayans family took in $13.1 million take for Dance Flick.

(tmz) Paramedics were called to Mike Tyson's Phoenix home at around 10:30 Monday morning when his 7-year-old son found the young girl hanging from a treadmill by its power cable.

Finally, "The Godfather of Soul" Can Rest in Peace (We hope)

The Legendary James Brown

(Perez Hilton) The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, passed away on Christmas Day 2006 and it took over two months before the family would even bury him.

Then, in mid July of '07, family members starting pointing fingers at missing money, claiming the trustees had mismanaged funds and several million dollars were missing.

The courtroom drama continued into 2008, with Brown's older children and others questioning whether his marriage in 2001 to Tomi Rae Hynie Brown was even legal and whether his son with her was really legitimate.

But after years of drama, and everyone fighting for his money and estate, a decision has finally been made.

On Tuesday, a South Carolina judge approved a settlement giving nearly half of Brown's assets to a charitable trust. A quarter was given to his wife and youngest son, and the rest to his six adult kids.

In a statement, Tomi said "I am so relieved and happy that the court has approved this settlement. I want to be able to work with the trustees and other Brown family members to promote James Brown's legacy. My son James and I are grateful to the judge and hope this nightmare is finally over."

The exact figures haven't been made public, but there's plenty of future income to make from Brown's movies and the sale of his likeness. $$$$$$ Ka-ching!

Brown's daughter added, "It has been a struggle, but God has ble$$ed us and we are thankful. We look forward to working towards the goals of our father by providing education scholarships for impoverished students and his own grandchildren and making his home a museum for the world to come and see."

A studio executive could open a summer's worth of blockbusters with the celebrities sitting court side at a single L.A. Lakers' playoff game.

Just how do Hollywood's finest manage to get those prime locations court side and in the lower bowl? Some buy in bulk – Lakers' season ticket holders include Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dustin Hoffman, Penny Marshall, Dyan Cannon and Glenn Frey, to name a few. But that's not the only way to get a foot on the floor. "The main way most of the celebrities get in are through seats given to them by studios, record companies, major talent agencies and production companies," says Lakers' spokesman John Black. "On a given night, we may have 40 celebrities here but I may only be aware of five of them myself."

Wednesday night's game at Staples center, the Lakers beat the Denver Nuggest 103-94, in front of a crowd studded with dozens of stars. In the stands were Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery, Denzel Washington, Nicholson and son Raymond, David Arquette, Adam Levine, Zac Efron, Tyrese Gibson, Taraji P. Henson, and M.I.A. with Ben Brewer. Also spotted arriving at the game were DJ AM, Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush, Andy Garcia, Hugh Hefner and Ice Cube.

The Lakers also have house seats they distribute to corporate sponsors and broadcast partners, which in turn provide them to celebrities. The Lakers' organization also has a few tickets to sell to celebrities themselves ­ with the best seats in the house ranging in price from $445 to $4,500 during this round of the playoffs. The Staples Center organization also has an allotment. Players in need of extra tickets for friends and family typically go through the team and pay face value, Black says. "We probably get a hundred requests per game, and we can't accommodate everyone," he says.

If you can find them, floor seats during the Nuggets series go for $4,500 per chair – face value that is –­ but that also buys you a ticket for courtside wait service and entry into the exclusive Wachovia Chairman's Room, located below the stands on the south end of the arena. There, you can enjoy a pre-game or halftime martini, and on a given night, rub elbows with the likes of Kanye West or Tom Cruise. But don't bother showing up to the room after the game unless you have a personal invite from Lakers' owner Jerry Buss, who reserves the club for his guests.

Those pricey seats also come with a special treat everyone in L.A. can appreciate – special parking close to the arena and private entry no lines to mess with.

Jay Leno's Last Night as Host of the "Tonight Show"



Jay Leno ends 17 years as host of the "Tonight Show" on NBC tonight. Leno made his Tonight Show debut on May 25, 1992 replacing legendary host Johnny Carson.

Leno's stint on the Tonight Show was without controversy due to an uproar between Johnny Carson and NBC. Johnny Carson preferred to have then NBC late night host David Letterman as his replacement while NBC wanted young comedian Jay Leno as the Tonight Show host. Later, David Letterman bolted to CBS to host his own late night show when Leno was chosen. Johnny Carson did sort of a "payback" to NBC by choosing to make appearances on Letterman's show on CBS instead. Leno leaves The Tonight Show as the no. 1 late night spot besting rivals Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

If there was any disappointment on his departure, Leno didn't show it for the one year he has known he was going to be replaced by O'Brien (probably because he was given his own "primetime" show to appease him which is set to debut on NBC in the Fall). O'Brien begins his new era as host Monday June 1. Jimmy Fallon takes over O'Brien's spot after the Tonight Show.

Leno's last guest on the Tonight Show will ironically be his replacement, Conan O'Brien (wonder if Leno had any say on WHO he could book as his guest on his last show?), and musical guest James Taylor.

Kavya Shivashankar Wins National Spelling Bee!!!


After four tries, Shivashankar finally wins!

(Bitten and Bound) It was the 13-year-old from Oalthe, Kansas who took the title of the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee last night in Washington D.C. Kavya Shivashankar, in her fourth appearance, bested the field of the nations top 11 finalists to win the coveted trophy and $40,000 in cash prizes.

Kavya’s winning word was Laodicean, which she methodically spelled out in her hand with her right index finger. It means ‘indifferent or lukewarm’. It might have been only slightly harder to spell than her own last name. Her father Mirle Shivashankar, mother Sandy, and younger sister Vanya were all on hand to witness her victory. Her previous finishes were 10th, 8th and 4th.

The teenager aspires to became a neurosurgeon. Kavya opted not to celebrate her birthday last week because she was in the final stages of preparation for the spelling bee. Her father said, “This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. We haven’t skipped meals, we haven’t lost sleep, but we’ve skipped alot of social time.”

What will Kavya do now that she has achieved her spelling goal? She may enter the ‘Brain Bee’, a science oriented contest. The well rounded teen plays the violin, and enjoying riding her bike and swimming.

Second place finisher and the youngest finalist was a fair-haired lad named Tim Ruiter of Centreville, Virginia. In his first year of competition, he misspelled Maecenas, which means ‘cultural benefactor’. He hopes to attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study physics and chemistry.

Rapper Tone Loc Collapses on Stage!

(Tmz) Fans and medical personnel sprung into action early this morning when rapper Tone Loc suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness in the middle of a concert in Florida.

Moments after complaining about the heat and humidity in Pensacola Beach, the "Wild Thing" singer suddenly went down so hard -- he busted open his elbow and bled all over his shirt.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, Tone was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to a nearby hospital. He was discharged early this morning.

Candi Spelling (Tori's Mom) Claims That Tori "Killed" Her Father!

(Bitten and Bound) There have been many words exchanged between Candy Spelling and her daughter Tori Spelling in the past but the latest war of words is a new low. In a recent radio interview on 94.7 WMAS, Candy told the Kellogg Crew that Tori was to blame for the death of her late husband, Aaron Spelling.

First of all, what mother would ever say that? Hopefully not many. When still married to Charlie Shanian, Tori fell in love with her current husband Dean McDermott while they were working together on the set of Mind Over Murder. Just one month after Tori’s divorce was finalized she and Dean wed.

Evidently there must have been some angst between the family and Tori over her relationship decisions and a falling out took place. Candy said that Tori’s estrangement “killed my husband”. According to Candy, “He just didn’t want to live after that. He’d done everything he could possibly do for his daughter and then she wanted no part of him once he couldn’t do anything for her.”

Spelling passed away a month after Tori and Dean wed. All of the turmoil escalated when the press speculated on what size inheritance the Spelling children would get of his $500 million fortune. Tori and her brother Randy each got $800,000.

What a mess. Tori's Mom is "one crazy woman!" If there was any chance of reconciliation between Tori and her Mom, that chance was "blown out of the water, for sure!" Stay tuned….

Rihanna Will Testify in Case Against Chris Brown!

(CNN) Singer Rihanna cleared her schedule to testify next month in the case against singer Chris Brown, who is charged with brutally beating her earlier this year, her lawyer said.

Rihanna's lawyer revealed that the singer will comply when prosecutors call her as a witness.

While Brown's lawyer previously indicated he hoped to resolve the case without public testimony, Los Angeles Criminal Court Judge Patricia Schnegg set on Thursday a preliminary hearing for June 22.

Schnegg also ruled Thursday that a leak of police photos showing Rihanna's bruised and bloodied face would not affect the prosecution of Brown.

Brown, 19, faces two felony counts of assault and making criminal threats stemming from an early morning incident on a Hollywood street in February.

After a short motions hearing Thursday, Rihanna's lawyer Donald Etra revealed that prosecutors told him they would call Rihanna -- whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty -- as a witness at next month's hearing.

"She will definitely comply with the subpoena and any court order," Etra said.

While he would not disclose whether she still had contact with Brown, he said, "She's monitoring closely the progress of this case."

Rihanna's schedule has been cleared for the expected court date, he said.

Actor Jon Cryer's Ex-Wife Sarah Trigger

(Tmz) The ex-wife of Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) was arrested today and booked for felony child neglect.

TMZ has learned Sarah Trigger was taken into custody early this morning at her home in Hermosa Beach, CA. Trigger and Cryer have an 8-year-old son, but police could not confirm that their child was involved in the alleged crime.

Sources tell TMZ the child's neck had rope or cord marks when police arrived. We're told officers found a weapon on the scene that matched those marks.

Trigger's bail was set at $100,000. She was released this evening. Police say the child is safe tonight and the Department of Children and Family Services is now involved.

UPDATE: TMZ has learned the child involved in the alleged crime was NOT Jon's 8-year-old son. Police say it was Trigger's two-year-old son with her current husband.

Jon and Kate Plus Eight Premiere Episode (For those who were living "under a rock" these past few months):

Watching the the premiere episode of TLC's "Jon and Kate Plus Eight," one just can't help seeing the turmoil that's happening between Jon and Kate. You can see it in both of their eyes of being lost and confused amid allegations of having affairs with other people and a fame-whoring brother (Kate's brother) who is on the talk-show circuit "selling out" his sister.

Interestingly enough, during Memorial day weekend, Jon was seen with a female friend at a bar in New York while Kate was spending time with some of the kids in North Carolina. Two adults that are now finding more time to spend their lives apart but who come together for the sake of their children. Makes one wonder, if a SHOW didn't exist, would they even spend the time together at all?

Unfortunately, in the middle of it all, are the eight Gosselin children who have no clue as to what's going on with their parents.

Is this reality television? Nowadays, it's hard to tell what is real or make believe on television. The children are definitely real. It's the adults that I can't figure out!

Box office results for May 29-31-- UP! A Big winner!!!!

(Den of Geek) Another new Pixar release, another monster hit. Up, the sweet little movie wrapped in big movie trappings (review here), took in an impressive $68.2 million this weekend at the box office as it bowed in both 3-D and 2-D formats. The 3-D showings, of course, were hugely profitable, which suggests to me that the 3-D gimmick is here to stay in a big way. As a 3-D fan, I think that's wonderful. I hate that they charge extra for it, but what are you going to do?

Last week's top movie, Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian, had a very strong second weekend. The film grossed another $25.5 million, and more importantly, crossed the $100 million barrier. It's crucial in the summer for a movie to hit hard and hit strong, and Night At The Museum did that perfectly. Audiences don't stick around long in the summer, which means that the sequel will be hard pressed to have the legs and grosses of the original comedy, but this is a great start.

In a not so great start, Sam Raimi's long-awaited return to horror, Drag Me To Hell, debuted at the third position at the box office this weekend. The film picked up $16.6 million, which isn't bad for a horror film. Still, the PG-13 rating suggested that the opening could've been a bit better, even if it was put against a juggernaut animated blockbuster as counter-programming cannon fodder. Had this movie come out in January (or October) it would've been top dog.

Terminator Salvation falls to fourth place from second place last week, bringing in $16.14 million in the process. I never would've thought I'd see that day where a Terminator film didn't debut number one for the weekend, but here we are. The franchise has lost a lot of luster, which is a shame because Terminator Salvation is actually a damn good film if you can forget it's related to The Terminator and Terminator 2.

Star Trek becomes the top-grossing movie of 2009 this weekend, thanks to its fifth-place, $12.8 million weekend. Trek has grossed $209 million in the US in only a month! Angels & Demons (sixth place, $11.2 million) also crossed a milestone as the film's US gross broke $100 million. This seems to be the week in which films make huge amounts of money and cross important profit-making thresholds.

Hollywood Shorts:

NBC's reality show, "I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here!" debut to disappointing results with only 6.3M viewers. Spencer and Heidi Pratt (from "The Hills") have confirmed to have left the show in only its second day of shooting. Celebrities are playing for money for their favorite charities.

Last night was the debut of the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. A standing ovation (don't know if that was staged, in the TV world you never know) that lasted forever started the show. Will Farrell was Conan's first guest on the show.

Hollywood Reporter reports that the ratings for the MTV Movie Awards was up 78% and pulled in 5.3M viewers.

Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) has announced that she is pregnant. No word on who the Father is.

A prequel is in the works for "Alien" that starred Sigourney Weaver. Original director Ridley Scott is helping to develop this "reboot" of the classic science fiction series.


Patricia Arquette's series "Medium" has been reborn on CBS

NBC's "Medium" starring Patricia Arquette was cancelled by the network but was reborn when CBS picked up the show. CBS is planning to pair Medium with its series Ghost Whisperer on Friday nights.

While the debut of The Tonight Show with Conan was getting publicity, David Letterman at the "Late Show" did not let Conan's debut go unmentioned:

Pop Singer Brandy Settles With Children of Crash Victim


(Tmz) Pop singer Brandy (TV star of the show "Moesha") has just reached a settlement with the kids whose mother died in the singer's 2006 car crash.

Awatef Aboudihaj's two children will receive a total of $600,000 -- $300,000 each -- according to court documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court moments ago.

Aboudihaj died in 2006 after her car was struck by Brandy's Range Rover near the interchange of the 405 and 101 freeways in Los Angeles.

Her husband, Marouane Hdidou -- who has yet to settle with Brandy -- rejected his part of a $1.2 million settlement offer in February.

Internet Sensation Susan Boyle Wins----Second Place---and Hospitalized


Internet sensation Susan Boyle who was a megastar on Youtube with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" finished in second place to the street dance group, Diversity, in the finals of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday. Saxophonist Julian Smith took third place.

Later that evening, Susan Boyle was hospitalized following what was described as a breakdown after her second-place finish on Britain’s Got Talent.

According to reports, the 48-year-old was seen wandering around her London hotel looking disoriented. Staffers from Britain’s Got Talent contacted police and Boyle was assessed under the Mental Health Act and taken by paramedics to Priory Clinic - a mental health facility - in London.

“It was all done very calmly. They didn’t want to stress or upset her. She didn’t look well - she looked lost, not all there,” said a source.

A spokesperson for the reality show issued a statement, saying, “Following Saturday’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP, who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”

Country Singer/Actress LeAnn Rimes A Stalker?

According to actor Eddie Cibrian's wife, Brandi Glanville, country singer/actress LeAnn Rimes is a stalker.

Since reports of their alleged affair, Cibrian cut ties with Rimes (who is married to Dean Shermet) but she will not let it go.

"LeAnn is a stalker," says Glanville, a former model. "She refuses to leave us alone — it is shameful and scary. People are going to say it takes two to tango and I get that, but at some point LeAnn needs to stop asking him to dance."

Glanville claims that after Cibrian changed his phone number to avoid Rimes' continual texting and calling, but that the country singer went out of her way to track him down during a Laker game last month.

Nowhere does Glanville admit that her own husband is responsible for this mess too! Cibrian is not blameless and had everything to do with the situation as much as Rimes. This situation is similar to Elizabeth Edwards' situation that involved her husband, former Presidential candidate John Edwards, in which she (Elizabeth) did not address her husband's sinful actions and instead "put the blame" on the alleged "mistress." In Edwards' case and in this case, both women look bad. If both women are trying to handle this situation privately with their husbands, why "air" this for the tabloids? Celebrities have publicists/agents/reps to help them in situations like this! Use them, for goodness sake!

You know what Hollywood people say? "Bad publicity" is just as good as "good publicity!" Great! In this case, your reputation goes into the "toilet!"

Actress Kate Hudson and New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez relationship is becoming a little bit more serious than believed. Sources have said that Hudson and her son have stayed at the same hotel as Rodriguez and the team on road games. They were seen together at a Dallas hotel fitness center.

A-Rod has already introduced Kate to his friends. Ah, amore. . . . Let's see how long this last until Kate gets bored.

"Stretch Armstrong" the toy will be made into a film

Producer Brian Grazer is currently developing a film based on the Hasbro toy "Stretch Armstrong." The film is part of a 6-year agreement between toy company Hasbro and Universal Pictures.

Columbia Pictures has selected Kurt Wimmer to write the script for the remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzaneggar film, "Total Recall."

Breaking News!!!!! More details on the death of David Carradine are coming in by the minute. Carradine was in Thailand filming the movie Stretch and was discovered Thursday morning. "I can confirm that we found his body, naked, hanging in the closet," Lt. Teerapop Teerapop tells the Associated Press. He said police suspected suicide, according to AP. The maid confirmed that she found him hanging by his neck in the closet of his hotel room, not sitting on a chair as first reported.

Carradine's two managers Tiffany Smith and Chuck Binder have raised speculation concerning his death by stating, "he (Carradine) would have never committed suicide!" "He was too full of life!" They have also raised the question that his death was not done alone.

Carradine has had past battles with drugs, alcohol, and thoughts of suicide. His managers point to his recent behavior as being upbeat and having a "zest for life."

The case is still under investigation.

UPDATE: (Bangkok, Tahiland) Thai police spoke with the BBC, telling them David Carradine (TV's Kung Fu and "Kill Bill"), 72, was found dead this morning by a hotel maid sitting in a wardrobe room with a rope around his neck and body. He was in the country shooting a film.

A local report is saying an initial police investigation said the rope was the kind of cord used with curtains -- while there is a conflicting report from a local police officer who said it doesn't seem the rope came from the hotel.

Despite conflicting reports, the U.S. Embassy has confirmed the death of Carradine.

A musician and songwriter as well as an actor, Carradine appeared in more than 100 feature films in a career spanning 45 years.

He is the oldest son of character actor John Carradine and his brothers include actors Keith Carradine, Robert Carradine and Michael Bowen.

David Carradine grew up in Hollywood and was educated at San Francisco State College, where he studied music theory and composition.

He served two years in the army, then went to New York, where he appeared on Broadway in The Deputy and starred opposite Christopher Plummer in The Royal Hunt of the Sun.

He returned to Hollywood in 1966 to star in the short-lived Shane TV series and Martin Scorsese's first Hollywood film, Boxcar Bertha. He later worked with Scorsese on Mean Streets.

He also worked with Ingmar Bergman in his only English feature, The Serpent's Egg, appeared in Roger Corman's Deathrace 2000 and Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe four times, for playing Woody Guthrie in Bound for Glory, for his role in the TV miniseries North and South, for Kung Fu in 1974 and in the 90s when the series returned as Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, and for Kill Bill Vol. 2. The original 1970s Kung Fu series also received seven Emmy nominations, including a best actor nod for Carradine.

Tarantino's stylish Kill Bill films were a return to stardom for Carradine, who plays the wily Bill that Uma Thurman aims to kill.

"Nobody is prepared for this movie. It's like nothing you've ever seen before," Carradine said ahead of the release of the first film. "People think they know Quentin, but this is something else."

Carradine was the host of Wild West Tech on the History Channel, and narrated the PBS anthropology series Faces of Culture.

Carradine was married five times and had two daughters, Calista Miranda and Kansas, both of them actresses.

Man Suspects Burglars Were Tipped Off by Out-of-Town Tweets

If you're going out of town, you're supposed to have someone come by to take in your mail and newspapers so as not to advertise the fact that your home is empty. Therefore, it should go without saying that putting a sign on your front door that says "temporarily unoccupied" would be about as dumb as it gets. So if you're careless about what you post online, you may be doing just that.

According to a Friday report by ABC News, East Mesa, Arizona's Israel Hyman recently discovered this the hard way when his home was robbed of thousands of dollars in computer equipment while he was out of town. When his father, Gerry, stopped by to check on the house, he found the back door jimmied open and his son's Mac Pro, a pair of 23-inch LCD screens, and other equipment missing. Israel believes that the thieves might have been tipped off by his Twitter messages, which also update his Facebook status. He told ABC News that anyone reading his Twitter updates (and Facebook) would have known he was leaving town.

Israel has no intention of quitting his favorite social networking services, though he says from now on he will be more careful about what information he posts online. Clearly, a good idea. We just hope the rest of you don't learn that lesson the hard way.

So don't make it easier for these criminals, stalkers, perverts, burglars, and idiots know where you're at or NOT at? Know your limitations when using this technology.

After years of speculation, word of Whitney Houston's comeback has been spread around but never materialized, until now. Sony Music has just announced that Houston's new album will be released on September 1st. Details on on the first single and a possible tour will be released soon.

It was only a few years ago, that Whitney’s 2002 album Just Whitney brought her short-lived success before her life seemed to spiral out of control. Married at the time to singer Bobby Brown, they hit the headlines frequently for their drug fueled lifestyle that included many fights.

The two ended their marriage in 2006 and Houston sought treatment for her addiction issues. Although Bobby’s state of health is still in question, it seems that with the support of friends and family, Whitney is on the right track. David Carradine had a history of sexual deviant behavior. Court documents from 2003 filed by his ex-wife Marina indicated that he had "a deviant sexual apetite that was potentially dangerous." Details on that "deviant sexual apetite" were not disclosed. The sex act in question involves cutting off the supply of oxygen to the brain while engaged in the act itself for sexual arousal. The act itself involves self-strangulation by hanging or using a plastic bag or other means to create some kind of oxygen deprivation. David Carradine's death was initially ruled a suicide but new details from his manager have revealed that Carradine's body was found with his hands tied behind his back by a rope and his genitals were tied by another rope. The manager's account do conflict with the report from the maid who found him in his hotel room hanging in the closet by the neck from a rope and another around his genitals.

Carradine's family suspects "foul play" as well because the hotel has been slow turning over evidence--mainly the hotel surveillance video--to Thai police.

Thai coroners conducted an autopsy before Carradine's body was shipped out of Thailand. No details of the autopsy have been released yet. One can surely bet that his body will be examined again here in the U.S., so calling Dr. Michael Baden (HBO's Autopsy) or L.A. Medical Examiner Thomas Noguchi! Story developing. . . .

Susan Boyle has a new gig?

Actress Demi Moore's representatives have approached internet sensation and Britain's Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle to perform at Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher's wedding anniversary. They are willing to pay her $48,000 (Boyle better "up that" cuz' it sounds she's getting "lowballed" by Moore and Kutcher!) for the gig.

"Lost" May be the Summer's First "Bomb"

(Ew.com) Disney/Pixar's Up lifted past the bona fide surprise hit The Hangover to be the first film of the summer to hold at No. 1 for two straight weeks at the box office. Early estimates from Hollywood.com Box Office have Up grossing an estimated $44.2 million to The Hangover's $43.3 million, a less than $1 mil difference that gives the R-rated comedy a chance to push to the top spot once actual figures are released tomorrow. Regardless of the final numbers, Up's estimated total gross of $137 million places it firmly in the upper echelon of Pixar earners.

The Hangover starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis as well as director Todd Phillips (Old School) have a lot to celebrate. Not only did the film pull in an outstanding "A" CinemaScore rating, the craziest-bachelor-party-ever dude-fest managed to draw in just about as many women as it did men. That bodes well for the film's staying power through the rest of the month, where its stiffest comedy competition will be the high-concept, ancient times Jack Black/Michael Cera flick Year One in two weeks.

Land of the Lost's box office fate should be a major concern. Will Ferrell's comedy under-performed, grossing just $19.5 million for third place -- nowhere near the star's best opening weekends. Worse yet, the film earned a dismal C+ CinemaScore average; audiences ages 35 to 49, ostensibly the age group that would best remember the original 1970s kids TV series on which the film is based, gave it a D+. Uneven marketing (audiences complained that they had no idea if it was an adult-comedy or family film), bad word of mouth, and bad reviews have already plagued Land of the Lost and if audiences continue to "stay away," the film may be the Summer's first "bomb."

My Life in Ruins, star Nia Vardalos' return to movies after a five-year absence, opened to just $3.2 million on 1,100 screens -- which, actually, is slightly better than My Big Fat Greek Wedding's first weekend in wide release, but it's probably best not to expect Greek lightning to strike twice. By contrast, the indie road dramedy Away We Go weathered mixed reviews to bank an estimated $143,000 on just four screens, for an outstanding $36,000 per-screen average.

Anna Nicole's Doctor Is a Wanted Man!

Sandeep Kapoor, one of Anna Nicole Smith's Doctors who is accused of felony prescription drug conspiracy which may have contributed to the death of the popular model did not show up at his court hearing this morning due to a "medical emergency involving one of his (Kapoor) patients," said Kapoor's attorney. The judge will give him til 11am (pst) to show up at the hearing and if he does not, he (the Judge) will have to have him arrested and thrown in jail.

Other principals in the case, Anna Nicole's former boyfriend and lawyer Howard K. Stern and her Psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich did show up at the hearing. The judge set August 12 for the preliminary hearing.

Candy Spelling, Mother of Tori Spelling, decided at the last minute NOT to show up for her daughter's party (birthday party for Tori's 1 year-old daughter). Despite their on-going feud with one another, Tori Spelling tried "to bury the hatchet" by inviting her Mom but she (Mother) chose not to attend and inform Tori of the no-show by email. Email?

Tori advised her Mother that cameras for her reality-show "Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood" would be filming the event and that she would respect her Mom's wishes not to be filmed. Despite prior knowledge of this, Candy declined to come to the event one hour before the party.

Tori had no knowledge of the email until after the event. A representative of Tori said "that she (Tori) was waiting for her Mom throughout the party."

Definitely, a lost opportunity for Candy Spelling to get-together with her daughter and the grandkids.

David Carradine's 3rd Ex-Wife Gives More Details About His Sexual Deviant Behavior



(Tmz) Carradine's third ex-wife, Gail Jensen, dropped personal bombshells in an interview with Patricia Towle this weekend, saying "David was pretty strange. He would like to get tied up. He would tie himself up and I would walk in and see him and say 'Oh my God, David, you got to be kidding me -- and I would (turn around and) walk out. I would leave him to his own devices."

Jensen added, "He liked to be tied up. And he could tie himself up ... He spent days planning a different feature. He would go to a hardware store and buy the stuff."

Finally, she said that he liked bondage but he never choked himself.

They divorced in 1997.

More News On the Death of David Carradine

With the leak of the photo of David Carradine's body to the Thai press over the weekend, the speculation has begun.

Upon first glance, media outlets have reported that the image (taken by Thai Police Forensics) shows a lifeless Carradine hanging from the clothes bar in the closet with his hands and genitals bound - in what appears to be an "auto-erotica scenario."

There are also fishnets covering his body, a piece of red lingerie lying on the bed and what appears to be Carradine wearing a wig.

Carradine's family is seeking to stop the publication of these photos as soon as possible. In addition, the family is requesting that the FBI be involved in the investigation.

Reports of someone else being involved in his death have been disputed by the Thai Police who have viewed the Hotel surveillance video outside Carradine's room and found no one else entering the room. Interviews of the hotel staff show up nothing.

Evidence points that Carradine's death may be ruled an "accident" and may have been "self-inflicted."

On Broadway's biggest night, it was Sir Elton John and his lively and moving musical Billy Elliot that was the brightest star. The show garnered 10 wins from the Tony Awards and no one was more humble and gracious than the piano man himself.

"Thank you for accepting us on Broadway," he said. "We came here at a hard time economically. You opened your hearts and you opened your wallets."

Other big wins included Angela Lansbury, who snagged her fifth Tony award for her role in the revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit,the trio of "Billys", young actor's David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish, who will share the award for each portraying Billy Elliot, and the production of Hair that won for Best Musical Revival.

The show did not go without incident when Brett Michaels lead singer of the band Poison (Yes, the band Poison peforming at the Tonys!) crashed into a scenery that was coming down like a curtain and broke his nose. Michaels was at the end of his song when he turned to join his bandmates and that's when he crashed into the scenery.

A trial was held over the past five days and today they were sentenced to serve 12-years in a labor prison.

The Central Court of North Korea handed down the sentence, citing the “grave crime they committed against the Korean nation and their illegal border crossing”. Their punishment will be “12 years of reform through hard labor”, according to the Korean Central News Agency.

The U.S. State Department is currently trying to confirm this information with North Korean authorities. Spokesman Ian Kelley said, “We are deeply concerned by the reported sentencing of the two American citizen journalists by North Korean authorities, and we are engaged through all possible channels to secure their release. We once again urge North Korea to grant the immediate release of the two American citizen journalists on humanitarian grounds.”

President Barack Obama, who is currently traveling in Europe on a diplomatic mission, has been notified of the latest developments, according to White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton.

Asian media reports indicate that the trial started on Thursday and that the women were represented by court appointed representation. The State Department was informed by the Swedish ambassador to North Korea that there were no observers allowed in the courtroom during the proceedings.

Laura Ling is managing editor of Vanguard at Current TV. Her sister, CNN special correspondent Lisa Ling said, “When the girls left the United States, they never intended to cross into North Korean soil. And it they did at any point, we apologize.”

Contact with the two women has been very limited, but their families report that Ling and Lee are “terrified”.

Coroner says Gans Death An "Accident"

(LA Times) Impressionist Danny Gans' death last month was accidental and caused by drug toxicity, the Clark County coroner said today.

Gans, 52, had been treating his chronic pain syndrome with the drug hydromorphone, said coroner Michael Murphy at an afternoon news conference.

Danny Gans death involved a fatal combination of Gans' preexisting cardiovascular conditions: hypertensive cardiovascular disease, in which spikes blood pressure and thickens the heart muscle, and polycythemia, in which a person's red blood cell count is higher than normal.

Gans died at his home in Henderson, outside Las Vegas on May 1. His wife, Julie, called authorities at 3:44 a.m. that day to say Gans was struggling to breathe. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kailua Dancer Needs Your Vote on "So You Think You Can Dance!"

Kailua's Kupono Aweau thinks he can dance.

He's not the only one. Aweau beat out thousands of other hopefuls across the country to become one of the top 20 contestants on the Fox reality show "So You Think You Can Dance."

When the show airs on Fox tomorrow, his fans hope the Kane'ohe-based 24-VII Danceforce member will live up to his name: In Hawaiian, Kupono means excellent, suitable and natural, exactly the kind of performance Aweau needs to advance to the next round.

Two of the top 20 will be eliminated on Thursday.

Aweau, 23, decided to pursue dance when he was still in elementary school.

"In fifth grade at Kamehameha we did a play. There was this one girl who everyone knew was a good dancer. She got to do a solo and while we were watching her, for whatever reason, I got hooked. It took me a while to get started because I didn't have the resources, but I eventually got there and here I am," he said in a phone interview from California yesterday.

He started dancing at 16 and chose lyrical/contemporary as his specialty.

"This genre is so broad that it allows you to have a lot of freedom," he said. "My style isn't traditional at all and it isn't anywhere near what everyone else does. I picked lyrical contemporary to fit my style, not the other way around."

He describes his first audition in Seattle as "the worst. I wasn't too disappointed in myself, but I wasn't thrilled either."

After the Seattle audition, judge Mary Murphy told Aweau: "There were a lot of things you did very strong but then there were things that were off-putting to me as very feminine."

While Murphy was initially on the fence, she agreed with the other two judges to advance him to the next round. All three also agreed Aweau reminded them of a Hawai'i contestant from Season 4 — Mark Kanemura, who also danced with 24-VII Danceforce.

Aweau attributes the judges' critiques as being "dead on."

So how did he deal with their remarks?

"I'm a great note taker. I took their notes and made sure that when I went to Vegas, I was prepared and I was going to be ready," he said. "If I could show the judges that I have prepared myself to be here, it would also show that I deserve to be there, that I want to be there."

His hard work and preparation paid off. During the Vegas auditions he got the big news: "That was the most exciting moment, being told that I was part of the Top 20."

The competition aspect of the show is particularly appealing, Aweau said: "I love the challenge. The choreographers are great and working with them is a bonus, but it's the challenge that I look forward to most. I'm all about self-improvement. This show is going to push me as far as I can go. It's going to test my physical and emotional strength, and it's going to test me as a dancer."

While he's having a great time on the Mainland, Aweau misses his family, friends and the Islands in general.

"That's what Hawai'i is all about. It's truly paradise to me. I've been to other places and every place has their own special thing, but Hawai'i is truly my home. Even when I step off of the plane, there's just this relief that I'm back and I just love it. Everything Hawai'i... I miss it all," he said. "One more thing! Shout out to my absolutely amazing nephew and number one fan, Akili! Ho brah!"

Where are the past winners of "So You Think You Can Dance?"

Now that "So You Think You Can Dance!" (SYTYCD) is in its fifth season, the question lingers on the whereabouts of past winners or past contestants on the dance show. So far, there are only two successful breakthroughs (Kherington Payne and Lacey Schwimmer) that have come from SYTYCD:

Kherington Payne: The name may not sound familiar but she was an early contestant on season 4. Her name will be remembered because she has the starring role in the remade movie "FAME" which is set to be released in September 2009.

Lacey Schwimmer: She finished in 4th place in season 3 but everyone knows her as a regular ballroom dancer on "Dancing With the Stars." If you can recall, she was Steve-O's partner this past season of DWTS.

Blake McGrath: Season one champion and currently a judge on Canada's "So You Think You Can Dance."

Neil Haskell: A former contestant who is currently featured on Dolly Parton's Musical "9 to 5."

Newman became a racing legend by having his own racing team Newman-Hass Racing in the 80s with racing icon Mario Andretti driving. Newman holds the record for being the oldest driver (70 at the time) to win the 24 hours at Daytona IMSA GTS with a Mustang.

Reps for Bret Michaels are fuming at the Tony Awards' reaction (or lack thereof) to a half-ton stage prop coming down on the Rock of Love star's nose!

According to the suits over at the Tonys, Michaels "missed his mark" during Poison's performance at the awards on Sunday night, which led to a ginormous set piece dropping onto Bret's face and fracturing the reality star's nose.

Na Hoku Hanohano Awards!!!!!!!

(Honolulu Advertiser) There was neither an upset nor a sweep at last night's 32nd Na Hoku Hanohano awards. Instead, the 26 coveted prizes — the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts' equivalent of the Grammys — went to 22 different performers.

The closest any one group or performer came to winning it all was when Pali received its third Hoku of the night.

The group was nominated in five categories, and won in three. Its album "...With Aloha" won for album of the year and Island music album of the year. Its song "Island Days" from "...With Aloha," won the award for song of the year. The song was written and composed by Pali founder and lead singer Pali T.W. Ka'aihue.

"This album is a postcard to the world," Ka'aihue said. "We really wanted to send the message of aloha to the world through this album."

Holunape and Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole were each nominated in four categories, and they each walked away with two awards.

Holunape won the award for group of the year, and its album "Ahea? 'Ano!" won for Hawaiian album of the year.

Singer Kanaka'ole, a clear audience favorite, won the Hoku for male vocalist of the year, as well as the award for best Hawaiian language performance for his album "Kaumakaiwa."

"Holy moley," were the first words that came out of Kanaka'ole's mouth as he stood at the podium.

He only got more eloquent from there.

Making the majority of his acceptance speech for best Hawaiian language performance in Hawaiian, he slipped into English to say: "It's been 30 years since my grandma Edith (Kanaka'ole) stood on this stage to accept an award, and here I stand, as her great-grandson, accepting this award. This is ours," he said, referring to the Hawaiian language for which he, as a practitioner, received top honors last night. "This — this language — is how we're unique to the world."

After Kanaka'ole received his second award of the night for best male vocalist, he, along with his mother and grandmother — three generations of celebrated Kanaka'ole powerhouse singers — broke out into a spontaneous Hawaiian chorus; a song of gratitude in perfect family harmony. And the audience broke out in chicken skin.

And it might not be a Grammy, but Amy Hanaiali'i took home the Hoku for contemporary album of the year for "'Aumakua," a win that didn't surprise anyone but thrilled fans nonetheless.

"'Aumakua was a beautiful project to work on," she said. "Being able to sing songs that are in English, but that also represent the Hawaiian language, has been an unforgettable experience."

Natalie Ai Kamau'u is now two-for-two — her debut album, "E," helped garner her the Hoku for female vocalist in 2006, and her sophomore album, "'I," has done it again. Kamau'u won the best female award, beating out strong contenders such as Hanaiali'i, Teresa Bright, Ku'uipo Kumukahi and Diana Aki.


Most Promising Artist--Kupaoa

Kupaoa was named most promising artist for the duo's CD, "Pili O Ke Ao."

The Lifetime achievement awards went to Cecilio and Kapono, The Sons of Hawai'i, Keola and Kapono Beamer, the late John Pi'ilani Watkins and the late George Jarrett Helm.

Teresa Bright's "Tropic Rhapsody" was named best jazz album, while the best Christmas album was "E Ola Ke Ali'i: The Na Kama Christmas Collection, Volume 1" by Na Kama.
The top anthology album was "Unforgettable" by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'ole and the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau.

The top compilation album was "Hawaiian Slack Key Kings Master Series Vol. II" by various artists, and award for best slack key album, a category that was introduced this year, went to John Keawe for his album, "Hawaii Island ... Is my Home."

In the end, it's the people's opinion that really counts, and the award for favorite entertainer — the only category voted on by the public — went to a couple of old-time favorites: Ledward Ka'apana and Mike Kaawa for their album "Force of Nature."

Michael Baden, the famed former Medical Examiner and Pathologist released this statement today after his examination of David Carradine's body:

"The autopsy findings and the evidence thus far available demonstrate that Mr. Carradine's death was not the result of suicide," Dr. Michael Baden said in a prepared statement released through the Associated Press Thursday. "However, to reach a final determination as to the cause and the manner of death we must wait for further information from Thailand as to the scene findings and the completion of the crime laboratory and toxicology studies that are still being performed."

Super Music Producer Phil Spector Checks Into Prison

The new mug shot of music producer Phil Spector was released to the media Wednesday. The photo shows Spector without his normal hair pieces due to State Prison policy.

The mug shot was reportedly taken Friday at the North Kern State Prison, where Spector is currently serving a 19-year to life sentence for the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

The 69-year-old was convicted of second-degree murder in April. Clarkson, 40, was shot in the mouth in the foyer of Spector’s Alhambra home on February 3, 2003. Spector denied murdering Clarkson and claimed she committed suicide. Witnesses testified that Spector often bullied women with guns.

Spector became a legendary record producer after working with many stars including The Ronettes, The Beatles, Cher and Ike and Tina Turner among others.

Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien Stumbles Out of the Gate!

(Variety) NBC's "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" is expected to dominate in demos when its first-week Nielsen numbers are released today -- but week two may be a different story.

O'Brien's overnight numbers have declined with each of its six telecasts following his big bow as host of the longtime latenight leader June 1. At the same time, David Letterman's "Late Show" on CBS has been picking up steam by piling up big-name guests after laying relatively low for a while.

End result is that on Tuesday -- for the first time in their seven head-to-head matchups -- Letterman appears to have drawn more viewers than O'Brien.

In Nielsen's metered-market overnights that measure the number of households watching a particular program in 56 of the country's biggest markets, "Late Show" (with primary guest Julia Roberts) averaged a 3.4 rating/8 share to a 2.9/7 for "Tonight," which featured Eddie Murphy.

The NBC latenight show had averaged a 3.1/8 on Monday, a 3.5/8 Friday and a 3.8/9 on June 4. It opened with a big 7.1/17 on June 1.

NBC has long said that O'Brien's performance on "The Tonight Show" should be judged over a span of years and not days and that it believes O'Brien will prove to be the timeslot leader in demographic ratings that are key to setting advertising rates.

Still, the Peacock can't like the downward ratings trajectory for "Tonight" and O'Brien to lose in any ratings category in an hour the net has ruled for years.

UPDATE: David Letterman's Late Show earned higher ratings than Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show for the first time last night, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The numbers and some context:

On the seventh day of Letterman vs. O'Brien, CBS earned a 3.4 metered-market household rating to NBC's 2.9. "Late Show" was also up 13% from last week and 17% from last year. Letterman's guests were Julia Roberts and Black Eyed Peas while O'Brien had Eddie Murphy, Angela Kinsey, and Bonnie Raitt.

Nearly 2.2 Million Television Viewers Are Not Prepared for Digital TV Transition!

A survey sponsored by broadcasters says nearly 2.2 million households that rely on antennas for their TV reception are unprepared for the shutdown of analog TV signals on Friday.

Research firm SmithGeiger surveyed 948 households that relied on antennas around the beginning of June and found that 1 in 8 had not connected a digital TV or digital converter box.

Those households stand to lose all major broadcasts channels Friday.

Households that have all their sets connected to cable or satellite service are unaffected by the analog broadcast shutdown.

Civil Rights Advocate, Journalist, and Author Chastity Bono is in the early stages of changing her gender from female to male. Bono's publicist Howard Bragman confirmed her (Chastity) decision.

Bono "came out" as a lesbian 20 years ago. She documented her parents response to her declaration in her book, "Family Outing." Her mother Cher, at first, was upset but managed to accept her as being a lesbian while her father Sonny was supportive from the outset.

Bono said she made the decision to change her gender after she turned 40 last year.

World Health Organization Declares Swine Flu a Worldwide Pandemic!!!!



Alert Level is at its highest level

The World Health Organization has declared swine flu an official pandemic and the alert level was raised from Phase 5 to 6 on Thursday.

Phase 6 is WHO's highest alert level and means that a swine flu pandemic is under way but there is no need to panic as most cases are mild and require no treatment. The U.N. agency explained that the high alert does not mean that the swine flu itself has worsened, it means that the disease has spread to more countries.

This is the first global flu epidemic in 41 years and infections have climbed in the United States, Europe, Australia, South America and elsewhere.

No mutations have been detected in the virus to show it is getting more deadly, so the fear is that new infections could overwhelm hospitals and health authorities, especially in poorer countries.

WHO reported 27,737 cases including 141 deaths so far!!!

In Hawaii, the Honolulu Advertiser reports that the State Health Departement has confirmed that 83 new cases of Swine Flu have been documented in the past week, bringing the total number of cases to 198.

All of the people infected have either recovered or are recovering at home with no complications.

Moon A compelling sci-fi film of an astronaut/maintenance worker, Sam Bell (played by Sam Rockwell) who is part of a 3 year project to obtain helium 3 from the far side of the moon (helium 3 is harvested and used for the Earth's energy needs). Nearing the end of his mission, Bell is experiencing a nervous breakdown and his condition causes him to get into an accident. His company informs him they are sending help. . . and that's when the fun begins.

Rocker Bret Michaels, singer of the group Poison, has been "campaigning" for some kind of reaction or explanation from the suits of the Tony Awards organization on Myspace concerning his injuries sustained from a heavy prop scenery that fell on him and broke his nose and bruises to his mouth during his set on the Awards show. Instead of making a spectacle of the situation on a social network, Michaels should go through the legal channels and file suit in order to work this out with the Tony organization.
