BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

Mayumi Heene, Mother of "Balloon Boy" Confesses That It Was A Hoax!

Image
Mayumi Heene (in orange) admits that she and her husband planned the fiasco 2 weeks before.

(Tmz) Mayumi Heene, the mother of the "Balloon Boy" has finally come clean, admitting the whole ridiculous fiasco was the hoax everybody knew it was anyway.

In a search warrant affidavit that was released today, Heene told sheriff's deputies she and Richard "knew all along that Falcon was hiding in the residence."

In the document, it says "Mayumi described that she and Richard Heene devised this hoax approximately two weeks earlier ... she and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax."

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderen has said he will recommend charges against the Heenes including conspiracy, contributing to the deliquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities, and trying to influence a public servant!

My goodness. Now that pretty much insures that Child Services will take away the children. What were Richard and Mayumi Heene thinking?

Hollywood Burglary Gang "Master Mind" Points to Lee!

(Tmz) Nicolas Prugo may be mistaken as the "master mind" behind a slate of Hollywood Home burglaries BUT all the evidence points to 19 year-old Rachel Lee. Lee is currently in a Clark County Jail, in Las Vegas. Law enforcement sources said that she is suspected of organizing a plan to steal cash, jewelry, clothing, luggage, purses and other personal items from several major Hollywood celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan and Rachel Bilson.

At her Father's home in Las Vegas, Police impounded a variety of items including two laptops, photographs of a partially nude woman, photographs of Lee's friends, more than two hundred $100 bills, a Korean passport and a vial of marijuana.

Sources also tell us cops found a series of items that may have been taken from various celebrity homes. The items include a hat linked to Lindsay Lohan, jeans linked to Rachel Bilson and partially nude photographs linked to Paris Hilton ... no surprise there.

Story developing. . . .

Hollywood Burglary Gang Are ALL TAKEN INTO CUSTODY!

Image
Surveillance cameras captured the gang that burglarized the homes of Audrina Patridge and Lindsay Lohan (inset shows Nicolas Prugo and Rachel Lee)

(TMZ) Nicolas Prugo has reputed to be connected with a burglary gang that "hit up" Hollywood homes of many celebs during the past year. Prugo, who was arrested last month, and his gang are accused of robbing the homes of Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, Audrina Patridige, Rachel Bilson, and Lindsay Lohan, and other celebs (Tila Tequila and Hayden Panettiere are rumored to be the other victims) may have been victimized.

Taken into custody yesterday were Rachel Lee, Diana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Roy Lopez, and Alexis Neirs. The gang is accused of taking more than $6M worth of jewelry and other valuables from celeb Hollywood Homes. Hilton and Lohan lost millions of dollars in jewelry. Patridge and Bilson lost clothing, jewelry, and other items. Bloom had his collection of watches worth hundreds of thousands stolen.

Image
Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge. Lohan "hung out" with Prugo (inset) at one time.

Investigators uncovered a computer used by Nicolas Prugo which revealed maps of the stars' homes, videos and photos, showing off jewelry and plotting to burglarize more homes.

Prugo will be in court Nov. 11 to face two charges of residential burglary.

Famous Feuds in Sports History!

ImageImage
Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas are "feudin'."

There have been some historic feuds between teams in sports history like the Boston Celtics versus the LA Lakers, Yankees versus Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Redskins, USC versus Notre Dame, but the feuds between two individuals are just as historic through the years.

The current feud involves Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas, who were once best friends, until Johnson's book, "When the Game Was Ours," revealed a resentment he had against Thomas, who had questioned his friend's sexuality after contracting HIV. This is the latest bickering that has captured today's sports community, but there were other feuds that captivated a sports fans attention:

ImageImage
A prime example of "love-and-hate." Billy Martin and George Steinbrenner. Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson. Forever-etched in Yankee lore.

Billy Martin versus George Steinbrenner and Reggie Jackson

The three produced a world series title in 1977, but Martin got into a near-fight with Reggie Jackson, who failed to hustle for an infield hit, and the scuffle was viewed before a nationally-televised Saturday afternoon audience. In 1978, Martin suspended Jackson for not following orders (Jackson bunted--against orders--and struck out). He was forced to resign that year when he told reporters about Steinbrenner and Jackson, "They both deserve one another. One's a born liar (Jackson) and the other's convicted" (Steinbrenner--referring to the Yankee boss who made illegal donations to Richard Nixon in '72).

Martin would have 4 more stints managing the Yankees. Each stint was as tumultous as the other. One episode involved Steinbrenner firing Martin after he (Martin) got into a fight with a marshmallow salesman!

Shaq versus Kobe

ImageImage
Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. All is forgotten after Bryant got his own title.

Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. The two produced 3 NBA titles together but in the end, the two could not share the stage together. After being swept by the Detroit Pistons in 2004, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat. Many believed that Kobe was to blame for allowing Shaq to leave the Lakers. Shaq has reputed to have called Bryant, "a clown," and a "punk." In 2003, during Bryant's rape case in Colorado, Kobe had told Police that Shaq paid women $1M to keep quiet about their rendezvous.

Last year, despite patching things up after a talk from basketball legend Bill Russell in 2006, Shaq was seen in a video rapping and dissing on Kobe Bryant. Embarassed by the bad publicity, Shaq "played-off" the incident and has since patched things up--for now. As for Kobe, the stigma of "winning a title sans Shaq" was broken in 2009 when Bryant's Lakers overcame the Orlando Magic. Today, the feud appears forgotten.

Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali

ImageImage
Muhammad Ali would always taunt Joe Frazier. This was a feud that was "larger than life."

Boxing legends Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali are forever-linked with their battles in the ring. In the middle of these two was ABC sportscaster Howard Cossell who witnessed Ali badgering Frazier through the press and an actual fight that occured between the two during an interview in the studio. The hate towards one another was genuine and was shown in the boxing ring, where each contest was a matter of "life-and-death." Ali called Frazier "a gorilla" and an "Uncle Tom" which added "fuel to the fire."

The "Thrilla in Manila" documentary depicted how much that last fight meant to both of them. Frazier risked blindness to win the fight, while Ali overcame a decision to quit because of severe exhaustion to claim victory. In the end, Ali tried to apologize to Frazier for all the name-calling by telling Frazier's son. Joe Frazier did not accept Ali's apology and questioned why HE could not tell it to him in-person.

Today, Ali is now a "shadow of his past" fighting Parkinson's disease while Joe Frazier is still bitter towards his former rival.

Why the Color RED is a Winning Color!

Image
In combat sports where judges make decisions, the participant dressed in RED was their preference

Recent research on the effects of RED on combat sports and with sports teams suggest that IT is a winning color. Researchers claim that RED is a successful color and that winning teams who wear the color tend to win more. As for people who disagree with this argument, some have asked, "Was the success of the sports team based on performance or on what color they were wearing?" They suggest that the success was based, in large part, on talent, NOT THE UNIFORM COLOR.

Image
Detroit Red Wings not only have red uniforms but they have the color as part of its team's nickname!

Evolutionary Anthropologists Russell Hill and Robert Barton from the University of Durham, UK were convinced that RED had a profound affect on the judges in combat sports--tae kwan do, boxing, wrestling, just to name a few--when the participants were assigned red and blue colors. Their findings, which was researched at the 2004 Olympics, concluded that the judges had a preference for RED, based on some of the match results. Hill and Barton claim there is no conspiracy here, just a human preference for RED, and in some results the combatant won in spite of the color.

In addition, Hill and Barton claim that "red seems to be the color, across species, that signals male dominance and testosterone levels."

On the subject of professional sports teams, let's take a look at the facts shall we from 2000-2008:

Stanley Cup Champions (2000-2008): teams that wore RED won 4 of the 8 (Detroit Red Wings-2 times, New Jersey Devils, and Carolina Hurricanes)

Image
The Philadelphia Phillies, the most recent team to win the World Series in RED

World Series Champions
(2000-2008): teams that wore RED won 6 of the 8 (Arizona DiamondBacks, Anaheim Angels, Boston Red Sox-2 times, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Philadelphia Phillies)

Super Bowl Champions (2000-2008): teams that wore RED (or have traces of RED) won 4 of the 8 Super Bowls (New England Patriots 2002/2004-2005 and NY Giants 2008).

NBA Champions:(2000-2008 teams that wore RED only won 2 of the 8 NBA Finals (Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat). However, keep in mind that RED was a dominant color in the 90's with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

Image
The Chicago Bulls, the NBA's most dominant RED-uniformed team!

English Premiere League (English Soccer) (2000-2008): teams that wore RED won 7 of the 8 titles (Manchester United 5 times, Arsenal 2 times).

Image
Manchester United. The most successful sports franchise ever clad in RED!

So, don't hold it against Anthropologists Hill and Barton if your team in RED doesn't win the championship! Besides, if they don't win, they weren't good enough, BUT they sure look great in the color RED.

Northwest Airline pilots say they flew passed their intended destination because of an argument? Yah, right. . . .

The latest story of pilots from a Northwest Airlines plane overshooting their destination by 150 miles, brings back memories from the GO! pilots who "overshot" Hilo airport because they were sleeping! The NWA pilots said there was an argument between them that supposedly "distracted" them when their plane flew passed Minneapolis. However, veteran pilots know that those pilots were probably just sleeping.

FAA is investigating.

WHO IS SUING MICHAEL JACKSON?

Image
Michael Jackson got two lawsuits this week? Are things slowing down?

Okay. . . it's Friday and someone had to put in their lawsuit before the end of the week. Sidney Lanier, a former lawyer of Jackson, put in his $2M lawsuit against Michael Jackson's Estate on Tuesday, so Cannon and Company is putting their claim that MJ owes them $56, 582 for services rendered this past July.

Hmmm. . . a more "recent" lawsuit? Usually, other lawsuits were from issues from last year to years before that?

So, Cannon and Company, you are part of a "select company" of people who are part of the "sue the Michael Jackson Estate club."

Paranormal Activity versus Saw 6? Which will YOU watch?

The biggest question among the "Halloween crowd" is which film will they see, Paranormal Activity or Saw 6? Both films open today, with Paranormal Activity going wide release for the first time. It's the much-hyped "Blair Witch" sensation Paranormal Activity versus the "tried-and-true" standby Saw 6 from the Saw-series. Most predict the new sensation Paranormal Activity will win at the box office because of the internet buzz surround the film. While others will choose Saw 6 as the predicted winner because of its standard formula that usually ends in a twisted manner.

Who will win the box-office between the two horror-heavyweights? Come Monday, we'll find out!

Kate Walsh (front and center) heads the cast of ABC's "Private Practice."

ABC won Thursday night with "Flash Forward," "Grey's Anatomy," and "Private Practice" while CBS had two of their popular series "CSI" and "The Mentalist" in reruns. CBS, took second, and did win part of the night with "Survivor: Samoa" pulling in 12.8M viewers.

Fox took third with their broadcast of the Yankees-Angels game that drew 10.3M viewers.

Lastly, fourth-ranked NBC's comedy block of "The Office," (8.5M) "30 Rock," (6.6M) "Community," (5.1M) and "Park and Recreation" (4.9M) did well with the Jay Leno Show holding up the rear with 4.9M viewers.

LA Dodgers Owner and Chairman Frank McCourt has fired soon-to-be-ex-wife and CEO Jamie McCourt from the organization. No reason why Frank did what he did, but the LA Times dug this up:

Jamie McCourt is believed to be lining up investors for a possible effort to buy out her husband and gain sole control of the team. In addition, she is believed to have started calling prominent baseball figures, with the intention of arranging meetings to discuss the direction of the team.

This is getting VERY interesting!

Northwest Airlines Pilots Were On Laptops When Plane Went Astray!

Image
Northwest Airlines Pilots were "distracted" by work on their laptops.

(CNN) My goodness, another thing for passengers to worry about when other people are in control of a car, plane, train, or boat. The pilots of the commercial jetliner, Northwest Airlines, that last week overshot its destination by about 150 miles have said they were using their laptops and lost track of time and location, federal safety officials said Monday.

Company policy prohibits the use of personal computers on the flight deck, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a report. Neither pilot said he noticed messages sent by company dispatchers, it added. It said the men were talking about the new monthly crew flight scheduling system put into place in the wake of Northwest's merger with Delta Air Lines.

"Each pilot accessed and used his personal laptop computer while they discussed the airline crew flight scheduling procedure," the report said. That's 78 minutes of "hard-hitting" and "involving" conversation about airline crew flight scheduling? Think about it. :-

The Airbus A320 was flying at 37,000 feet over the Denver, Colorado, area at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday when it last made radio contact, the safety board said. Flight 188, which was carrying 144 passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants, departed San Diego, California, en route to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport when it flew past the Minnesota airport by 150 miles.

Pilot Timothy B. Cheney, 53, was hired in 1985 and has more than 20,000 hours flight time; First Officer Richard I. Cole, 54, was hired in 1997 and has about 11,000 hours of flight time, the report said.

ImageImage
Compared to Northwest Airlines, Hooters Air Pilots have A LOT of distractions!

Neither pilot reported having had an accident, incident or violation, neither had any ongoing medical conditions and neither said he was tired, it said. They each had a 19-hour layover in San Diego; neither said he had slept or argued during the flight, but both said "there was a distraction" in the cockpit, according to the report.

"The first officer, who was more familiar with the procedure, was providing instruction to the captain."Neither pilot said he was aware of where the plane was until a flight attendant called the cockpit about five minutes before the plane was to have landed and asked their estimated time of arrival, the report said.

"The captain said, at that point, he looked at his primary flight display for an ETA and realized that they had passed" the airport, it added. After 78 minutes of radio silence, the pilots re-established radio contact with air traffic controllers, it said.

After landing at Minneapolis-St. Paul, both voluntarily underwent alcohol breath tests, which proved negative, the report said.

Can anyone peek on what they were really looking at on their laptops? :-$ Just sayin'?

"Paranormal Activity" Clobbers Saw 6 for No. 1 at Box-Office!

Image
"Paranormal Activity." The clever marketing of Paranormal Acitivty swayed many audiences to see it!

(Ew) In the battle between the two heavyweight horror films, the winner was a "new kid on the block," "Paranormal Activity" which pulled in $22M at the box office during its first full weekend in wide release. To date, the micro-budgeted phenom has pulled in $62.5 million; with Halloween still a week away, Paramount could easily see total grosses edging past $100 million, a benchmark that a certain venerable torture porn franchise has never reached.

Meanwhile, Saw 6 never stood a chance, banking just $14.8 million for second place and the worst opening in the Saw franchise’s history — in fact, it’s just half the $30 million that Saw V opened to one year ago. Is this the end of horror-torture flicks? Maybe not, but industry experts had high-expectations for the 6th installment of the Saw franchise. Of course, the internet-buzz generated by Paranormal Activity from "gimmick-marketing" by Paramount studios had a lot to do with Paranormal's success and Saw's failure.

Image
"Where the Wild Things Are" dropped significantly in its second week but may finish second if numbers "pan-out."

In fact, when final numbers come in tomorrow, Saw VI may see a bigger drop and may fall behind "Where the Wild Things Are," which pulled in an estimated $14.4 million in its second weekend. That’s a steep 56 percent drop from its debut, a pretty clear indication that the flick is not inspiring the kind of repeat viewing from children that drives the box office for most family movies. Still, with $53.9 million in the bank, the film is performing far better than many in Hollywood had expected.

ImageImage
The debuts of "Vampire's Assistant" (left) and "Astro Boy" (right) were big disappointments.

It’s certainly stronger than any of the films that opened this weekend. The sci-fi animated film Astro Boy sputtered with $7 million and sixth place, yet another in a long line of failed attempts to make feature animation aimed directly at boys. Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant may have been advertised as the beginning of “The Cirque du Freak saga,” with with just $6.3 million for eighth place, it may actually be the end. And Amelia could not recover from a storm of bad reviews, crashing at 11th place with a tiny $4 million in 818 theaters. Overall, box office was down roughly 10 percent from last year, when the unrelenting behemoth known as High School Musical 3 tormented audiences nationwide.

Scottish rock star, Morrisey, 50, may have to "come to grips" that he is "past his prime."

Scotsman and former Smiths lead singer Morrisey, 50, checked out of a hospital yesterday after collapsing on stage, after coughing, wincing and grabbing his shoulder, and falling on two knees! Two roadies had to help him off stage. His concert at Swindon will be rescheduled but that wasn't the first time the singer has done this!

Is Morrisey "past his prime" at age 50, and when do these musicians stop? Certainly, being at an advanced-age, performers have to take even better care of themselves before they go on stage! Elvis and Michael Jackson had some issues at their respective ages and tried to maintain "a fountain of youth" with painkillers and other medical prescriptions. Hopefully, Morrisey can look at past examples of performers who tried to perform "past their prime" and look into maintaining his health before going back on-stage!

ESPN analyst Steve Phillips and "girlfriend" Brooke Hundley are OUT at the leading sports network.

ESPN baseball analyst Steve Phillips was fired last night by the sports network after admitting to an affair a few days ago with a production assistant, Brooke Hundley. Hundley is also out at ESPN after being re-assigned to NASCAR. It is unknown if Hundley quit or also given the axe. Phillips announced that he is entering a treatment facility.

The firing raises questions on the "culture" at ESPN headquarters. Harold Reynolds was fired in 2006 after "hugging a girl" while other male reporters in the office were also "carrying-on" with female interns. Reynolds did settle with ESPN for his episode but the "truth" of interns and male reporters has been well-documented by DEADSPIN.com and other former reporters. Goes to show you that ESPN headquarters is no different than the corporate world.

Tyler Perry and Spike Lee are feudin' and it sounds like Lee is "green with envy."

Director/actor/media mogul Tyler Perry appeared last night on "60 Minutes" to respond to criticism by fellow Director Spike Lee who called Perry's characters (Madea and The Browns) as "coonery," "buffoonery," and likened his characters to Amos and Andy. Perry emphatically said, "it (the criticism) pisses me off!" He adds, " “It’s so insulting,” the media mogul said. “It’s attitudes like that that make Hollywood think that these people do not exist and that’s why there’s no material speaking to them.”

Perry said that Madea and other characters are central and important to learning "life lessons about faith, love, forgiveness, and family." The audiences continue to love Perry's films as the pile of No.1 box-office hits continue to roll ( (the recent "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" went to No.1 at the box office). His television shows, "Meet the Browns" and "House of Payne" are certified hits. Sounds like Lee needs to eat some "humble pie" and keep his ENVY on the down-low.

Dodger Couple in Major Turmoil

Image
Frank and Jamie McCourt. Their separation may be short-lived and is surely headed to DIVORCE!

(Tmz) The separation of L.A. Dodger owner and Chairman Frank McCourt and former Dodger CEO/wife Jamie McCourt is starting to look like it will head down the path of divorce (if not already). Now that the focus is OFF the L.A. Dodgers baseball team, who were eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies in 5 games, the spotlight is now squarely on the McCourts!

On the day before the Dodgers were eliminated by the Phillies and two weeks before their 30th anniversary, Frank McCourt wrote a letter to his wife Jamie telling her that she was terminated from her job as CEO of the Dodgers.

Here's some of the excerpts from that delightful letter:

"Because your employment is held at-will, the Organization is not required to have cause to terminate your employment and may do so for any reason or no reason at all.

However, your actions, including, but not limited to, your insubordination, non-responsiveness, failure to follow procedures, and inappropriate behavior with regard to a direct subordinate, have made this decision necessary."

And for good measure, Frank had the door locks changed to keep Jamie out! Jamie even called her assistant to help open her office door but she was informed the keys no longer worked!

Cold, Frank, cold.

Image
Frank McCourt. Questions are lingering on what will happen to the Dodgers if the ownership is split between the couple!

Meanwhile, Jamie has her own personal life under way with her "supposed" involvement with former Director of Security for the Dodgers Jeff Fuller who was fired in Mid-October. Sources say that the two started seeing one another AFTER her split from Frank. Hmmm. . . . .

Image
Jamie McCourt. The future of the Dodgers may depend on how CIVIL the McCourts are in their divorce proceedings. Early indications show that may NOT be the case!

And the latest "skirmish" occurred when Jamie McCourt and Jeff Fuller were surprisingly at Frank McCourt's home in West Los Angeles. Frank had gone jogging and returned to his residence to find the couple at his home. For some reason, Jamie called 911 and then the couple's private security for assistance when she was frightened that Frank had entered the property while she was swimming in Frank's swimming pool! What? Where was her security assistant, Fuller?

Private security arrived and the Police arrived soon thereafter and talked to Jamie and the housekeeper. After speaking with the officers, Jamie left the house. She said she was frightened to see Frank and thought he would lose his temper and scare her! Wait a minute, isn't that Frank's house? WTF!

Why did Jamie call 911 when she had her "security assistant" with her? Doesn't make sense. Ulterior motive? You bet!

This won't be the end, folks!

Hollywood's Most Dangerous Stalker!

Pop singer Justin Timberlake and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich have placed restraining orders on Karen Jane McNeil!

(Huffington Post) Her name is Karen Jane McNeil, 48, and she has had restraining orders placed on her by the super group Metallica and pop singer Justin Timberlake. Metallica had a restraining order on McNeil back in March. The documents were filed by drummer Lars Ulrich requesting that McNeil stay 150 yards away from all members of the band, their families, and the people who run the Metallica fan club!

Timberlake placed his restraining order on McNeil last week. McNeil managed to get into Timberlake's property numerous times but on this occassion this past Thursday, she refused to leave! She was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation but was released due to legal reasons. Timberlake's lawyer has called her, "a mentally unstable celebrity stalker." On one occassion she left a "bizarre" letter on Timberlake's property.

This is the same woman who stalked Guns and Roses singer Axel Rose in 1995! She went to prison for 1 year after violating an order to stay away from Rose.

McNeil may be homeless and she has no phone number to contact her. This is one crazy woman!

Search for Missing Metallica Fan Gets Help from the Band and the FBI!

Morgan Harrington. Family, Friends, Metallica and the FBI are searching for the missing Virginia Tech student, who was last seen at a Metallica concert!

(MTV) It's been 10 days since Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington disappeared during a Metallica concert at an arena at the University of Virginia. State police are still searching and following up on tips, and the FBI has also gotten involved. Even Metallica have lent a hand: The band posted a news story on their official Web site with Harrington's description, some photos and contact information for anybody who has a tip about her whereabouts. "We are deeply concerned about the disappearance of 20 year old Virginia Tech student Morgan Dana Harrington, who was last seen while attending our concert at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA, on Saturday night," the site says.

According to WTTG, Metallica frontman James Hetfield has contacted Harrington's parents and has offered to add $50,000 to the $100,000 reward being offered for information the could lead to Morgan's return.

Morgan's parents were on "Today" this morning to talk about their daughter's disappearance, and they both assume that some kind of foul play is involved. "This is every parent's worst nightmare," her father said.

Image
Morgan Harrington's purse and cell phone were found near the arena

A few more details have emerged since Harrington's parents filed the initial missing persons report, and a narrative has been built around the incident. At some point during the show, Harrington got separated from a group of friends to go to the bathroom. Somehow, she ended up outside the venue and was not let back in (per the re-entry rules of the house).

She called her friends to let them know she would find another way home — the last time anyone heard from her. Police found her purse and her cell phone on the ground between the arena and an adjacent athletic field (strangely, the battery for the phone was missing). Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Virginia State Police or the University of Virginia Police, and updated information can be found at FindMorgan.com.

Espn analyst Bob Griese and NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya. Griese is suspended for making a "racist" remark against Montoya.

(Miami Herald/Barry Jackson) ESPN College football analyst Bob Griese was suspended for a week by the sports network for a "racist" remark made by the former Miami Dolphin quarterback. The remark was said during the Minnesota Gophers versus Ohio State Buckeyes game in which Griese was announcing. During the game, a promotional graphic appeared on the screen listing the top 5 NASCAR drivers. Fellow analyst Chris Spielman looked at the list and asked, "Where is driver Juan Pablo Montoya?" Griese answered, "out having a taco."

Griese apologized twice on the air on Saturday. ESPN said that the remark was "inappropriate" and said Griese understands his remark was "uncalled for."

Montoya was asked about the remark and he couldn't resist making fun of the controversy by saying, "I could say that during the last 3 hours I was eating tacos but I was driving the car." The Miami resident said of Griese, "I don't even know who he is and I really don't care."

The fight is still under investigation but Francis said that "he fears for his life" and that he grabbed Nicole's hair "in self-defense!" In addition, Francis is suing both Brody and Jayde for battery, assault, negligence, slander, libel and false light -- because after the bar incident, Francis claims the two lied when they recounted the incident to a TMZ cameraman who was outside the club.

Keep in mind, Francis is over 6 feet and about 230lbs!

India is taking the first step to buy U.S. theatres in order to show Indian films. Hopefully, Hollywood can take notice of this trend and start to DIVERSIFY its product!

(LA Times) If Hollywood doesn't play your native country's films, it's time to buy some of the theatres in the U.S., refurbish it, and make it exclusive for that particular ethnicity. Eastern Indian audiences are "under-served" so the Indian Theatre chain headed by Reliance (bankrolled by Indian Billionaire Anil Ambani) invested in 18 theatres in the U.S. to show Indian movies. Some of the theatres are also serving types of Indian foods to serve families who come to watch their favorite Bollywood films. For example, a N.J theatre has a Bombay Cafe that serves such treats as samosas, papdichaat, and mango lassi. At a Chicago theatre, there is an Indian restaurant, bar and lounge.

Some theatres in the 18-chain have diversified to show movies from Poland, South Korea, and Russian films due to the diverse community it serves.

There is a demand for movie audiences who long to see films from their native countries. Reliance is a prime example of identifying an "under-served" community and giving what they want! This is a warning to Hollywood that if they don't serve or "diversify" its product (by employing MORE major roles to minorities) to reflect all the different nationalities that live in this country, this audience will go to Indian theatres like Reliance or other theatres of different ethnicities to watch their films!

Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Opens to Positive Reviews!

Image
Thousands come to the premiere of MJ's "This Is It," the last footage of an entertainment icon!

(TV Guide/Gina Dinnuno) From Will Smith to Neil Patrick Harris, Hollywood's A-listers came out in droves to attend the lavish red carpet premiere of Michael Jackson's This Is It, which is already receiving positive reviews.

Distributor Sony, which paid $60 million for the film, pulled out all the stops for the premiere, transforming the plaza in front of Nokia Theater with an elegant array of crystal chandeliers, displays of Jackson's costumes and "This Is It" spelled out in giant letters, according to The Associated Press.

Producers created the theatrical concert film using more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage for the tour on which Jackson was about to embark at the time of his death.

Image
The dance choreography was amazing, making one wonder if that was really a 50 year-old dancing with dancers half his age!

Four of Jackson's brothers — Jermaine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie — attended the premiere and expressed great satisfaction after watching it.

"To see him up there doing his performance like that has brought a lot of tears to my eyes, sitting there watching him. Because I love him so much," Jackie Jackson told The AP.

Image
"This Is It" had a lavish stage production, showing off the latest in technology

"It was closure for me," Marlon Jackson said. "And it was a moment where I just felt his spirit inside of me. And that made me feel good."

Other celebrities who attended the premiere included Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy Jr.

Prior to the screening, longtime Jackson collaborator Kenny Ortega introduced the film to the audience, calling it the "last sacred documentation of our leader and our friend."

The film revealed the extensive comeback Jackson had planned for the concerts — including an entrance in a mechanical spider and an expansive graveyard set for his "Thriller" performance.

The film, which has received positive reactions from critics and fans, opened to the public immediately after the premiere in 99 countries, expanding to 110 this weekend.

LA Dodger Owner Frank McCourt Fires Back!

Image
Frank McCourt, seen with wife Jamie McCourt, fires back at his wife!

(Tmz) A day after wife Jamie McCourt filed for divorce, LA Dodger owner Frank McCourt has fired back by saying that Jamie knew all along that she is NOT the co-owner of the Dodgers as she claims.

In documents filed by Frank's lawyers, he says he and Jamie signed a marital property agreement in 2004 that says that all residential property are HERS and that the Dodgers property are HIS. Frank says that Jamie proposed this deal.

Basically, Frank said that she got what she wanted and that he is honoring the terms of the agreement, making him the registered sole owner of the LA Dodgers. Frank said that Jamie wanted a new deal for a share of all their assets including the Dodgers but in May HE TOLD JAMIE HE WOULD NOT SIGN IT.

The couple separated in July and she asked Frank to move out of their Malibu home and asked to make Jeff Fuller , head of Dodger Security, to be "just her driver." Fuller is rumored to be Jamie's "love interest." He was fired from the Dodgers in mid-October.

Frank also went to say that the reason he fired Jamie as CEO is because she was dating someone (Fuller) who was on the Dodger payroll. He added that Jamie could not perform her job in the best interests of the organization.

He is also asking the Family Court to "butt out" of the Dodger organization's business and not listen for Jamie's demands to be reinstated as CEO. He said that Family Court has no jurisdiction on the busines of the baseball organization.

Patrick Swayze's Wife, Lisa Niemi, Speaks For the First Time Since Her Husband's Death

Lisa Niemi, spoke for the first time of her loss on the topic of Grief, Healing and Resilience at a Women's Conference.

(People) Patrick Swayze's wife, Lisa Niemi, spoke for the first time since her husband's death six weeks ago at a roundtable yesterday on the topic of Grief, Healing and Resilience at a Women's Conference 2009 in Long Beach, California. She told the panel about her loss as "like an animal of its own" and that the loss could be felt "on a cellular level."

Niemi said that she has relied on her close friends to get through on her darker hours.

"I have a few girlfriends that are just amazing. They have made themselves available to me 24/7. They say, 'We don't care if it's 2 in the morning, call me'," says Niemi, her blond hair pulled back into a loose bun and wearing an all-black dress. "I was in the middle of a full-blown panic attack one evening ... and I picked up the phone and called one, which is really hard for me to do because I'm used to being so self-sufficient and taking care of myself, but the very act of picking the phone up to call someone helped to calm me."

Image
Niemi and Swayze at a Hollywood premiere, were often inseperable.

Even though Niemi told Swayze many times every day in his last months, "I love you, I love you," and never left his side, she admits, "I've spent two thirds of my life with him ... My regret is that I didn't tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years."

"I am so grateful for what I had and my connection to him, and part of me believes that I will see him again," says Niemi, her voice breaking, "and I'm just going to have to go on until then."

Niemi was joined on-stage by Elizabeth Edwards and Susan St. James, both of whom lost children in accidents. The discussion, held before a crowd of 14,000, was moderated by California First Lady and Women's Conference host Maria Shriver, who this summer lost her mother, Eunice Shriver, and uncle, Ted Kennedy.

Kelly Preston was scheduled to join the panel to speak about her loss with son Jett, but she pulled-out at the last minute. According to Shriver, Preston said that "it was still too painful to talk about Jett."

MJ's close friend and Doctor files a claim against his Estate!

(Tmz) Oh, Hell NO? Not to be outdone by the premiere of Michael Jackson's film "This Is It," Dr. Arnold Klein wanted to "get in" on the list of creditors to Michael Jackson's Estate. Klein, once the personal Doctor of Jackson, a close friend, and supposedly DA' FATHER of MJ's children, filed his claim yesterday. He claims that the Estate owes him $48, 522. 89 for services performed between March 2009-June 22, 2009---just 3 days before Michael Jackson's death.

The procedures are listed in the documents as:

- botox under eye

- I.M. injection
- fine line needl
- restylane
- latanoprost
- acne surgery

Well, there goes the argument that Michael Jackson denied using plastic surgery!

Hollywood Burglar Gang Had "Big Plans" Robbing Hollywood Hills' Celebs!

Image
Nicholas Prugo (inset) and his gang had bigger plans to rob a whole list of celebs, besides Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge!

(Tmz) The Hollywood Burglar Gang (headed by mastermind Rachel Lee and Nicolas Prugo) were an ambitious bunch looking to rob every celeb and some business executives of clothes, jewelry, and other things in Hollywood Hills. In a computer that was stolen from an L.A. businessman, the gang stored photos, videos, maps of stars' homes, and plans to rob almost every celeb in the area.

Victimized by the gang include Audrina Patridge, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Brian Austin Green, Orlando Bloom, Paris Hilton, Hayden Panettiere, and Ashley Tisdale. Other celebs that were targeted by the group but were not victimized were Bette Midler, Rihanna, Jessica Biel, Heidi Montag, Shania Twain, Mariah Carey, Megan Fox, and Britney Spears.

Interestingly enough, the gang cataloged photos of different celebs who were pictured with expensive jewelry around their necks or on their ears. The girls of the gang, Diana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Alexis Neirs, and mastermind Rachel Lee, along with Prugo and Roy Lopez, had a major interest in jewelry and many of the celebs who were rumored to have expensive jewelry collections would be instantly made a target! One video that had held the interest of the girls was a celebrity web site that featured Lindsay Lohan and partner Samanth Ronson shopping for Rolex watches at a Beverly Hills jewelry store.

ImageImageImage
Shania Twain (left) Mariah Carey (center) and Rihanna (right) were also on the list of targets, but were never victimized!

The girls also targeted women celebs who were considered at the "forefront" of fashion. Paris Hilton and Megan Fox (through boyfriend Brian Austin Green's home) clothes and jewelry were stolen, especially Fox's signature t-shirt collection. Other celebs were also robbed of their clothes.

A source said that the gang would scour the internet through social networks, celeb fan sites or on their own personal web sites to check for the celeb's schedule of events. Often times, the burglaries occurred while the celeb was either away on location in a film shoot or away on a business trip to promote their tv show or film.

Although, the group used the internet to their advantage to gain access to celeb information, it may also lead to their downfall. Photos of the gang showing off their "haul" of jewelry and other items stolen were uncovered and will ultimately be used as evidence to prosecute the gang members.

Stardom Fulfills a BASIC NEED!

Image
The recent example of the pursuit of FAME, the "Balloon Boy" episode with the Heene family.

(CNN) As a large silver balloon floated its way over Colorado, millions of Americans spent hours glued to their televisions wondering if 6-year-old Falcon Heene, assumed to be inside the contraption, was alive.

That night the boy, who had actually been hiding in his family's house, was asked on CNN's "Larry King Live" why he'd stayed hidden.

"You guys said we did it for the show," the boy told his father, Richard Heene.

In the era of reality TV, YouTube, and social media "friends" and "followers," it seems that everyone wants to be a star. People will perform outrageous acts on camera and revel in the attention of strangers.

Image
Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui used "stardom" in the most macabre way!

But what, then, is driving this need for attention from thousands -- or even millions -- of spectators?

The desire to be famous comes from a basic human need to be part of a group, said Orville Gilbert Brim, psychologist and author of the new book "Look at Me! The Fame Motive From Childhood to Death."

"It's a yearning to belong somewhere that causes us to seek the fulfillment of attention and approval of strangers," he said.

The desire for attention may date back to the days of early humans, who lived in small groups. Those who were not approved by a group that protected all of its members would genetically disappear and die off, he said.

"You're left with the population in which almost everybody wants acceptance and approval," he said.

Wanting to feel special and sensation-seeking are probably top motives for trying to become famous, said Susan Fiske, professor of psychology at Princeton University.

Image
Youtube sensation Tay Zonday is a fine example of temporary stardom on the internet when he sang, "Chocolate Rain." Zonday hasn't been heard of since.

Getting a lot of attention gives some people a rush of adrenaline, the "fight or flight" chemical, said James Bailey, psychologist and leadership professor at George Washington University's School of Business. When people experience this "high," they want to have it again and will engage in sometimes extreme or illegal behaviors to try to replicate the feeling.

This need for recognition isn't necessarily negative, and studies have shown that everyone has it in varying degrees, although there is some cultural variation, Bailey said. It becomes problematic when the desire for fame becomes dysfunctional and all-encompassing, he said in an email.

The quest for fame may get out of hand when sudden fame -- like a sudden chunk of money for lottery winners -- has an "intoxicating effect," and suddenly people can't imagine life without fame, he said.

It ends up being kind of a damaged life if you seek to be famous because you can never get there, really, and you can never can get rid of it, and it spoils your days trying.

Image
Five year-old internet sensation, Giulano Stroe, is being passed off as a "freak show" for his "extreme" bodybuilding/gymnastic antics. His Father is non-chalant about showing his son on Italian television and on the internet. Cries of abuse are being heard in the internet community.

"It shifts one's self-perception of who and what one is and what one deserves, and there's little we humans won't do to perpetuate our positive self-concepts," he said.

Still, some surveys show that it's a minority of the population that places fame ahead of all other priorities in life.

Brim examined data from the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research in Storrs, Connecticut, on how important becoming famous is to people. The surveys were conducted over the past four decades. Consistently, about 2 percent of respondents said that fame is the most important thing in life.

That means the proportion of people whose primary life motivation is fame isn't getting larger over time, even though opportunities for people to try for their 15 minutes have exploded through the Internet and reality TV shows, Brim said.

But there is a perception that far greater numbers of people are fame-seekers. A 2006 survey from the Pew Research Center aimed at 18- to 25-year-olds found that 51 percent cited being famous as either the first or second most important life goals for their generation.

ImageImageImage
Social networks Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter are vehicles used in the pursuit for "fame" or recognition!

Fiske and Bailey said the plethora of opportunities for minor fame on the Internet probably has made more people want to be recognized in that way. "Access to the rarefied air of celebrity is more available," Bailey said.

Fame by way of YouTube and reality television is usually temporary, unlike honors for doing good deeds, Brim said. The number of great achievements to bring about fame have not increased -- what have increased are the "look at me" spectacles that have no other goal than to draw attention, he said.

A desire for fame may also come from being rejected early in life, perhaps by parents, Brim said. But the problem is that no matter what level of acceptance these people achieve, it's never enough.

"That need remains unfulfilled and they can't handle it, and so they turn to trying to become famous as a substitute for the satisfaction for this basic need," he said.

Miley Cyrus, 17, has been stalked by two men over the span of 3 months!

Miley Cyrus (aka as "Hannah Montana") was stalked in a span of 3 months by TWO different men! First, a 53 year-old was arrested for attempting to stalk Cyrus but was later released for lack of evidence.

Then, a 22 year-old soldier, Sean Christian Mathis, went on the Cyrus' movie set and saw Miley's stunt double and shouted, "Hey it's Miley Cyrus, I'm going to f-ing kill you!" Mathis was arrested for "terroristic threats" and disorderly conduct. The soldier was handed over to the Military Police. Officials announced they will purse the case against Mathis.

Sandeep Kapoor, a defendant in the Anna Nicole Smith trial, turns in a journal with some "eye-opening" entries.

(Tmz) Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, facing conspiracy charges in the Anna Nicole Smith trial for allegedly prescribing excessive amounts of prescription drugs, was forced to turn in a journal he kept in which he wrote on June 13, 2005: "I was making out with Anna, my patient, blurring the lines. . . I gave her Methadone, Valium. Can she ruin me?"

Another revealing entry from Kapoor: "I also need to get off the drugs. The Buspar, Wellbutrin have to go. But first the Ambien has got to go. Oh God, it's so addicting. I have to get off that (expletive)."

Kapoor, along with Howard K.Stern and Khristine Eroshevich, is accused of contributing to the death of the model/reality-star.

The girls of "Vampire Diaries."

"Vampire Diaries," is becoming a hit on the CW network thanks to the lovely ladies who were arrested for "flashing" motorists" in Monroe, Georgia during a photo shoot. BTW, the case was dismissed earlier this month. The show is a television version of "Twilight." What HBO's "True Blood" is for adults, "Vampire Diaries" is for teens and young adults.

Vampire is quite entertaining. . . oh and I forgot, there are a few males on the show as well.

New Zealand actor Cliff Curtis will have to look for new work after the cancellation of "Trauma."

(THR) NBC has abruptly cancelled the medical drama "Trauma." The San Francisco-based drama was the network's priciest fall series and averaged 5.8M viewers. The network will finish producing the 13 episode order but no news on whether the remaining episodes will air. Trauma will be replaced in the Monday lineup by "Chuck" next year.

Well, the show gained more viewers than the "Jay Leno Show" for sure. Obviously, NBC is more committed to the "Jaw Man" instead of any "scripted shows," for sure.

NASCAR Juan Pablo Montoya is just having a little FUN, at Bob Griese's expense!

This from NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya on Twitter:

"Guess what I'm having for lunch. . . . TACOS!!!!. . . and I'm serious about it!"

Montoya is having fun with the "inappropriate" remark made by ESPN analyst Bob Griese at the Minnesota Gophers versus Ohio State Buckeyes football game last Saturday. After a NASCAR promo of the top 5 NASCAR drivers appeared on the screen, fellow announcer Chris Spielman asked where was driver Juan Pablo Montoya's name on the list to which Griese answered, "He's out having a taco!"

Griese apologized two times on that broadcast for making that remark but was suspended for a week by ESPN, while Montoya gains a little bit of FAME from the ill-timed remark.

CNN personality Lou Dobbs. He believes the attack was from a group that supports amnesty and leniency towards illegal immigrants!

Earlier this month, a shot was fired at the New Jersey home of CNN news personality Lou Dobbs. No one was hurt but Dobbs addressed the issue on his radio show and said that the gunshot was in retaliation for his opinions on illegal immigration.

Dobbs does not advocate leniency on illegal immigrants in this country and his opinions have angered so many people that he has even received threatening phone calls at his home! Dobbs never reported any of the threatening phone calls because he believed that it was "part of the job," but after the shooting he reported the incident to police.

WHO IS SUING MICHAEL JACKSON????

MJ's Estate received 3 creditor's claims today.

(Tmz) It's almost the end of the week and we got tons of them. I guess, with the premiere of "This Is It," the term meant "this is it" to film file your claim with the Michael Jackson Estate!

Former MJ manager Leonard Rowe is claiming that the singer's estate owes him $51, 218 for expenses incurred while he was the the King of Pop's manager. He said he has the legal documents as proof he is owed the money from a paper allegedly signed by the singer.

Another lawsuit involves "Thriller" Director John Landis who claims he is owned $400,000 for a deal MJ made to take "Thriller" to broadway---a deal that was without Landis' consent. In addition, Landis claims he is owed more than $1M for profits he was entitled to from the "Thriller" video.

Lastly, George Folsey Jr, the guy who produced the Thriller video and the documentary, claims that he owed more than $1M from merchandise (CDs, DVDs, toys, comics, musical works and other items) that was sold involved with the production. He claims MJ stiffed him out of profits made from Thriller merchandise!

Goodness! When it rains it pours. . . .

How Dangerous Is Ryan Seacrest's Stalker?

ImageImage
Ryan Seacrest, will have to "double-check" the credentials of his security team to go up against stalker Chidi Uzomah!

Tmz confirmed that Ryan Seacrest's stalker, Chidi Uzomah, who appeared at the E! building today and who was previously busted for attacking his bodyguard, is pretty dangerous cause he has military training! Uzomah is currently a part of the Army Reserves unit in Upland, California. He was trained as a frontline soldier and assigned to the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion--a part of the special forces unit which is attached to the Green Berets.

Lt. Col. Banks, an Army spokesperson, apologized to Seacrest and that the "Army will be investigating and will take all matters of personnel seriously."

Image
Seacrest better hope Uzomah ain't RAMBO!

Hope Ryan Seacrest's security team has some similar military training or heavy-duty self-defense training to go up against this guy! Nothing worse than going up against "Rambo" in Hollywood!

"This Is It" No.1 at Box-Office Will Be Heldover Until Thanksgiving!

Image
Michael Jackson. The King of Pop is on top at the Box-office!

(Ew) Halloween audiences picked beats over blood this weekend, pushing Michael Jackson’s This Is It to the top spot, while horror phenomenon Paranormal Activity scored a strong second-place finish. With a $21.3 million domestic gross, This Is It raised its worldwide total to a massive $101 million that easily breaks the record for a concert doc, though it falls far short of the $250 million that concert promoter AEG reportedly predicted. Even so, the performance was good enough to convince distributor Sony (which acquired the pic for a mere $60 million) to announce that the concert pic will remain in theaters at least until Thanksgiving.

Image
Director Oren Peli's film, "Paranormal Activity" still holding strong in 2nd place!

Still beating expectations in its third wide-release weekend, the sleeper hit Paranormal Activity dropped just 22 percent for a $16.5 million haul. At $84.8 million total after six weekends, the surprise smash is now the year’s highest grossing horror movie. Rounding out the top five are holdovers Law Abiding Citizen ($7.3 million), Couples Retreat, ($6.1 million), and Saw VI ($5.6 million).

The weekend’s two other newbies both had lukewarm receptions in wide release: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day made $0.5 million at 68 theaters, while Gentlemen Broncos earned $10M at two sites.

U.S.S. New York, Built by Steel from the World Trade Center, Sets for Sail!

Image
U.S.S. New York started it's maiden voyage today.

(Times online) The U.S.S. New York, a Navy-assault ship that was built with 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel, sailed into New York harbor today on its maiden voyage. The ship delivered a 21-gun salute to Ground Zero. Rescue workers and families of those killed gathered on the Manhattan front to see the 684 foot long warship glide up the Hudson river with its sailors standing at attention on the deck.

"It's a transformation ... from something really twisted and ugly," said Rosaleen Tallon, who lost her fireman brother, Sean, in the terror attack. "I'm proud that our military is using that steel."

The battleship, including a nuclear submarine, was scheduled to be built before the September 11 attack. However, after the atrocities, the US Navy decided to incorporate recycled steel from the fallen twin towers and name the vessel after New York as a tribute to the victims. It is a San Antonio-class amphibious dock vessel, capable of carrying 800 marines with helicopters.

Two other US Navy ships of the same class have also named to commemorate the September 11 attacks.

The USS Arlington was named to honour victims who died at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The USS Somerset commemorates the county in Pennsylvania where the hijacked United Airlines flight 93 crashed.

As the USS New York sailed towards New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg was ferried aboard by one of the ship's hovercraft. He spent the evening with the crew watching the New York Yankees play the Philadelphia Phillies in baseball's World Series yesterday.

The USS New York will remain in the city until Veterans Day on November 11. It will then head to its home port of Norfolk, Virginia, for a year of crew training and exercises.

The US Navy said it had many requests to serve aboard the ship. Some 13 percent of the current crew of 361 sailors come from New York - far higher than would normally be assigned.

A third creditor from last week files a claim against the Michael Jackson Estate! Sheesh. . . .

Last week Friday, Michael Jackson's lawyers Mundell, Odlum and Hawes, claim that the singer owes them $1, 144, 808.95. The firm says that they have a an agreement that was signed in 2007 by the singer for that amount.

The firm also claims that they are still owed hundreds of thousands of dollar for services between December 2007 to June 24, 2009--the day before he died--for their services.

Grand total --- $1,571, 768. 62 plus interest.

Chidi Uzomah, in a mug shot, is considered a "serious threat" to Ryan Seacrest!

(Tmz) Ryan Seacrest filed a restraining order against stalker Chidi Uzomah, who stalked Seacrest outside the E! building on Friday! Uzomah was found carrying a knife. Uzomah is also the same guy who showed up at a radio station in Burbank looking for Seacrest earlier this month and attacked Seacrest's bodyguard after he (Seacrest) made an appearance at a hospital in Orange County in August.

Uzomah was convicted of 3 misdemeanors last month and is on probation. He has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Seacrest's home, vehicle, and job. Seacrest's people are on "high-alert" and consider Uzomah a serious threat!

Production company is plenty interested in Nadya Suleiman (aka OCTOMOM) and Jon Gosselin "pairing up" on a reality-dating show! WHAT?

Elevator Productions are in talks with Nadya Suleiman (aka Octomom) about a reality-dating show involving her, Jon Gosselin, and Gosselin's girlfriend Hailey Glassman. The company is offering Gosselin a reported $1M all-expenses paid for him to go out on a date with Octomom! Remember, Octomom thought of Gosselin as being a "hottie."

Glassman would contribute to the show by being a "jealous" third wheel. One million dollars to Gosselin? That's a lot of money to turn down from such a cash-strapped guy like him?

(Perez Hilton) Wow! Rebecca Romijn is having her hubby Jerry O'Connell to do some work on her ABC show, "Eastwick." Guess what, it ain't as HER love interest but another starlet on the show! What?

Jerry will be playing a hot new hunk interested in Rebecca’s co-star Jaime Ray Newman. But Rebecca isn't jealous: "I think it’s great to have him play someone else's love interest, as it would have been distracting to have him come on and play my love interest."

"Southland." The show moves from NBC to TNT. An "edgier" program compared to an LA-version of "Hill Street Blues."

TNT has picked up the critically-acclaimed show, "Southland" which was cancelled by NBC. "Southland" is produced by former "ER" producer John Wells. TNT will show 7 episodes that never ran and 6 additional that were shot in the past few months. Southland will premiere on January 12 on Tuesdays opposite "The Jay Leno Show."

The time-slot could be "just revenge" for Wells who may have a chance to "beat" Leno on Tuesdays. Wells has never held back his displeasure with Leno for "hogging" the 10pm time-slot at NBC, which prevented his scripted show from returning back to the peacock network.

America Doesn't Care About David Letterman's Sexcapades, Ratings Still Solid!

Image
David Letterman. Despite the sex scandal, The Late Show ratings were unaffected!

Late-night American viewers dont' seem to care too much about David Letterman's relationships with female staffers because the ratings for the Late Show are still solid averaging 4.4M viewers!

Just a month ago, Letterman was a victim of extortion which led to the arrest of fellow CBS employee 48 hours producer, Robert “Joe” Halderman. Halderman demanded $25M from Letterman for documents that would expose the relationship between the late show host and a female staffer, Stephanie Birkett. Birkett, was the former girlfriend of Halderman. She had left a diary detailing her liaisons with Letterman and somehow Halderman had gotten possession of it. Halderman was eventually arrested but news of a sex scandal was exposed. Letterman would later apologize to the public and to his wife in front of a national television audience.

Since then, more details have surfaced about Letterman’s past relationships with other female staffers and rumors of a divorce between Letterman and his wife Regina Lasko have made the tabloids.

While Letterman’s ratings have remained steady since the scandal, his overall audience has grown 10% when compared to last year’s numbers.

So goes the saying, “Sex sells.”

Dickinson State Softball Girls Are Missing in North Dakota!

Image
Afton Williamson, Kyrstin Gemar, and Ashley Neufeld are missing in North Dakota!

(AP) DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — The father of one of three missing college softball players said Tuesday the women often went star gazing near a lake in southwestern North Dakota where authorities continued to search by plane and boat for the students.

Lenny Gemar told ABC's "Good Morning America" in a telephone interview that the Dickinson State University students would hang out by Patterson Lake near the city and "just look up at the stars and, you know, chat about the things that teenagers will chat about."

Police have refused to speculate on what might have happened to Kyrstin Gemar, 22, of Grossmont, Calif.; Afton Williamson, 20, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and Ashley Neufeld, 21, of Brandon, Manitoba in Canada. The women were believed to be in a white 1997 Jeep Cherokee with California plates when they were last heard from late Sunday night, authorities said.

Dickinson Police Lt. Dave Wallace has said a friend of the women received two telephone calls from them, about one minute apart, before the line cut out on Sunday. Police described the first one as a "very scratchy" call for help that mentioned the women were near a lake and water.

The friend who received the calls called 911 to report that the women needed help, police said. Foul play was not suspected but was not being ruled out, police said in a statement.

Dickinson Police Officer Thomas Grosz said the search for the women resumed Tuesday morning with at least three airplanes. He said members of the fire department also were taking a boat out on Patterson Lake, just southwest of Dickinson, a city of 16,000 people about 100 miles west of Bismarck and 60 miles east of the Montana state line.

Police also said they searched the women's rooms and were interviewing their classmates, friends and people near Killdeer, north of Dickinson. "It's scary. It's just a numbing feeling that you have for those kids. There's just so many questions — you're almost speechless because you don't know much," said Dickinson State softball coach Guy Fridley.

Lenny Gemar said he and his wife arrived in North Dakota late Monday night to try to help find his daughter, Kyrstin, and her teammates. He said they were met at the airport by a university official and updated on the case and investigators' efforts.

"They haven't found anything that I'm aware of," he said. "No tire tracks, no clothing ... nothing at all to give us any indication where the girls ended up."

Gemar said he had not spoken with the friend who said she received the distress calls, but it didn't initially appear the girls were being attacked.

"There was nothing to indicate that there was an assailant or anything like that going on," he said. "It just comes across as sounding more like an accident of some kind."

Bill Walton, retires from broadcasting

Bill Walton, officially retired from broadcasting yesterday due to a chronic back problem that made it impossible for him to travel to different NBA telecasts. Walton may not be mentioned in the same breath as the "John Madden of basketball" but he sure had his moments injecting predictions and criticisms in the game. Many have called him an "ego-maniac" but his passion for the game is unquestioned. To some, Walton would be considered a "poor man's version of Howard Cossell."

What may be missed will be his opinions during a Laker versus Celtic telecast of which he has allegiances on both sides--his son Luke plays for the Lakers while his loyalty to the Celtics as a former player is still strong. His opinions were always "bombastic" and "over-the-top" and he will be sorely missed by some.

The "injured" bat was supposedly disposed of immediately after the incident and was never tested for rabies. Yikes! As a precaution, Ginobli must go to 4 doctor visits and get his 4 shots in the arm and hip.

Well, didn't Ginobli complain about not "getting enough shots" as a basketball player? Well, he wasn't probably referring to rabies shots!

NBA TV Analyst Calls Yi Jianlin, A Derogatory Term and Later Apologizes!

ImageImage
Rick Kamla (left) with Eric Snow during an NBA TV broadcast

(Fanhouse) NBA analyst Rick Kamla has apologized to the public--to anyone who was offended--for referring to New Jersey Net forward Yi Jianlin as a "Chinaman." Kamla's reference not only appeared on NBA TV during the Orlando Magic and New Jersey Nets game last Friday but on NBA.com for 5 days after that! Unbelievable that no one caught the offensive term until almost a week later!

The use of the derogatory term of "Chinaman" was used by anti-Chinese activists in the 19th century which referred to Chinese immigrants as "subhuman." The anti-Chinese sentiment during the California industrial boom at the time is a sad legacy. European American-dominated Unions led a fight to deny Chinese families to emigrate to the U.S. which led to President Chester Arthur signing the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The act not only denied entry to Chinese families but also prevented them from leaving and going back to America. The act was not repealed until 1943, and unlimited immigration did not become federal law until 1965.

Kamla isn't the first sportscaster to use the derogatory term. Steve Kerr used the term in 2004 and was taken to task by Asian Week. Kerr apologized after learning the history of the term. At the 2008 Masters, CBS broadcaster Bobby Clampett called Chinese golfer Liang Wen-Chong the term. He later apologized.

Missing Dickinson State Students Found Dead in Jeep Pulled From Pond!

DICKINSON, N.D. (CBS/AP) The three missing Dickinson State University softball players were found dead Tuesday in a Jeep that was pulled from a pond two days after the women disappeared.

Authorities had been searching since Sunday night
for Ashley Neufeld, 21, of Brandon, Man., Kyrstin Gemar, 22, of San Diego; and Afton Williamson, 20, of Lake Elsinore, Calif.

Police Lt. Rod Banyai said police are "still investigating" the cause of the deaths and autopsies are planned.

Banyai said he believes the women were in the vehicle when they made two cell phone calls to friends for help, but he didn't know whether it already was under water when those calls were made.

The Dickinson State University students were believed to be in the white 1997 Jeep Cherokee with California plates when they were last heard from in the calls made to two friends on cell phones before lines went dead.

Police described the first as a "very scratchy" call for help in which one of the women said they were near a lake and water.

Banyai said the pond is about 3.6 metres deep on a farm northwest of Dickinson. He said searchers found vehicle tracks leading into the pond Tuesday afternoon, and searchers in an airplane flying over the site saw oil on top of the water.

The submerged vehicle was pulled from the pond about two hours later, police said.

Former Miss California and Pageant Reach A Settlement!

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean and the Pageant have agreed to drop all claims!

(CNN) The legal battle between Miss California USA pageant officials and former beauty queen Carrie Prejean ended Tuesday with an agreement to drop their claims, according to a pageant spokesman.

The pageant has dropped its lawsuit filed last month demanding Prejean repay $5,200 given her for breast implants, publicist Kenn Henman said.

Prejean, in exchange, withdrew her suit accusing the pageant of violating her privacy by confirming to reporters that her breasts were fake, he said.

The public fight began last April when Prejean, 22, stepped into controversy by declaring her opposition to same-sex marriage while answering a judge's question at the Miss USA pageant. Prejean finished as first runner-up. While state and national pageant officials publicly supported her initially, their opinions eventually changed after she continued to make public statements about same-sex marriage.

She held onto her crown through May -- despite a series of questionable photos that emerged on gossip Web sites. She was dethroned in June by Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump amid growing complaints by state officials that she was uncooperative and not meeting her contractual obligations.

Prejean filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court in August, claiming that her firing was religious discrimination because of her stand against same-sex marriage. She also claimed that pageant officials violated her privacy by acknowledging to reporters that her breasts were fake.

The pageant's countercomplaint said Prejean's belligerent behavior, lack of cooperation and contract breaches caused her firing, not her opposition to same-sex marriage.

State pageant officials say they loaned the money for the breast surgery under an oral agreement with Prejean and she never repaid them. One thing they all agreed on at the time was that Prejean needed bigger breasts if she was to be competitive in the national pageant in April, the pageant's filing said.

Pageant officials disclosed that she was lent the money in order to become more "competitive" for the Miss USA pageant. Prejean said that she had been thinking about breast augmentation surgery for a long time but she never had the money to pay for it. Furthermore, Pageant officials emphasized that the counter lawsuit was made because of her abandoning her obligations as the Miss California USA titleholder and that she violated many of the provisions of her contract, not because of her opinions about same-sex marriage.

Morgan Harrington. The search has been stepped up for the missing Virginia Tech student!

(The Hook) The search for Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, who went missing after an October 17 Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones Arena, has been stepped up! Joining on the search was Ed Smart, who is the father of once-missing Utah resident Elizabeth Smart. Smart joins family, friends, Metallica, and the FBI in the search. Harrington's purse and battery-less cell phone were found at an RV lot near the John Paul Jones arena.

Harrington's father said that Morgan left her seat to use the bathroom in the arena. Information becomes sketchy from that point. There have been conflicting reports that Harrington was seen inside and outside the arena. Another report said that Harrington was alone outside the arena trying to re-enter the arena after she was "cast out." Surveillance cameras have not been able to see any footage of Harrington.

FBI agent Mark Safarik said that "everyday that passes by (with no sighting of Morgan) is bad news." Harrington's parents are fearing the worse but are try to remain positive.

Rumors are swirling that Police found narcotics on Hopper AND that one of the reasons he was "kicked-out" last year from his San Francisco high school was because of drugs!

You think Sean Penn's to blame for displaying reckless behavior that includes womanizing and assault for Hopper to see in the tabloids and media? Is Hopper "acting out" because his parents are headed for divorce? You never know with today's kids.

(EW) The premiere of ABC's version of "V" about Alien visitors trying to take over planet Earth scored 14M viewers. The show ran second to CBS juggernaut, NCIS. The original version of "V" was shown on NBC in 1983 and that premiere garnered 21.1M viewers at the time. Of course, that was before the technology of today with people meters and demographic information and when cable was about to expand on the horizon. Those were the days.

Toyota Motors announced they will quit Formula 1 racing!

(WSJ) Toyota Motors has announced they will pull out of Formula 1 Racing which lands another blow to the motor sport and is a sign of the current global economy. Toyota cites the tremendous cost of running a Formula 1 Racing team and its struggles with car sales in the U.S. and other markets. Toyota President Akio Toyoda said the decision "was a painful one." The leading auto corporation follows Honda (which pulled out last year) and BMW who have dropped out of F1. That leaves Renault, AMG Diamler, and Ferrari as the only companies left in the motor sport.

F1 reps said that the latest move by the big car companies to drop out of the sport may be a "good thing," moving the motor sport back from the big companies to smaller independent racing teams with small budgets which was the way it used to be. "The move would make formula 1 racing more exciting," according to James Roberts, news editor at Formula One magazine.

Part 1 of Rihanna’s Good Morning America interview with Diane Sawyer aired this morning and the second part airs tomorrow. In the first part of the interview, Rihanna makes it very clear that she was wrong to go back to Chris Brown after he beat her.

“Don’t react out of love,” Rihanna advises other young girls going through the same difficulties as she is. "Love is blind."

In tomorrow’s interview, Rihanna will discuss the details of what happened the night of her beating as well as how she feels about Chris Brown now that enough time has passed to absorb the situation.

This interview will undoubtedly have a huge impact (and not a positive one) on Chris’ career.

Former Miss California Drops Lawsuit After A Sex Tape of Her is Discovered!

Image
Former Miss California Carrie Prejean.

(TMZ) News of an "agreement" between former Miss California Carrie Prejean and the Miss California Pageant organization seemed like two sides had come to a "middle ground" in their issues but little did we know the REAL reason why both sides decided to drop their lawsuits! The reason why former Miss California Carrie Prejean dropped her $1M lawsuit against the Miss California Pageant organization was because their lawyer had a sex tape of Prejean! The graphic sex tape shows Prejean going solo--enough said. At first Prejean was in disbelief that it was her in the video until a closeup showed her face in full-view, it only took 15 seconds before Prejean talked with her lawyer and decided to drop the lawsuit.

TMZ had the sex tape a few months ago but decided NOT to post it because of its graphic nature!

Prejean's Pastor Darren Carrington from The Rock Church in San Diego says, "Everyone is a work in progress," adding everyone has "something we're not proud of."

The BALL Enters Toy Hall of Fame!

Image
The Ball is the ultimate toy and it enters the Toy Hall of Fame!

(AP) The Ball, along with Big Wheel and the Gameboy video device, entered the Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York. Longevity of a toy item is the key and each toy must foster learning, creativity or discovery through play.

The BALL, the Big Wheel, and the Game Boy video device were chosen by the Strong National Museum of Play to join its all-star lineup of 41 classics, ranging from the bicycle and the kite to the jump rope, the teddy bear and Mr. Potato Head.

Image
Nothing is more common than watching kids playing with a ball!

The BALL. Oh yah, and who didn't destroy a window, knock over a vase, cause a dent in a car, and famously hit Marcia Brady in the nose with it? The ball is arguably the most popular toy item that it helped create sports around the globe! Imagine if the sports of soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, and football were without a ball? These sports wouldn't have existed without the ball.

Image
The Big Wheel. The Low center of gravity made it almost impossible to get into a "bad collision" with the ground.

The Big Wheel. Launched in 1969 at the toy fair in New York, this "low-rider bicycle" was so low to the ground that crashing in it wouldn't do much harm to the rider. Sliding the Big Wheel was always a popular thing to do with this toy!

Image
Gameboy. It's portable design meant anyone could take this device anywhere for enjoyment!

Gameboy. Most children, college kids, and adults can't seem to live without this item! Who doesn't whiff one of these out when you're waiting at an airport or travelling on the train or travelling in a car? Since its release in 1989, Nintendo has sold more than 118M units worldwide.

Pro Sports Teams That Have NEVER Won A Championship/Title!

Image
NBA on TNT analyst Kenny Smith coined the term "Gone Fishin'" for the teams that never make the post- season, let alone the title game!

Most people talk about the teams that have won the most titles, like the MLB's NY Yankees (27 titles), NHL's Montreal Canadiens (24 titles), the NBA's Boston Celtics (17 titles), and the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers (6 titles), but no one talks about which pro sports teams that have NEVER won a championship/title since their inception. While athletes and sports fans love the spotlight of winning, they're some fans from several sports cities that have NEVER tasted a championship/title victory. For instance:

Image
Some franchises WISH they could have a banner with ONE TITLE on it!

MLB - Franchises that have never won a World Series:

Texas Rangers
Houston Astros
Milwaukee Brewers
San Diego Padres
Washington Nationals (Montreal Expos)
Seattle Mariners
Colorado Rockies
Tampa Bay Rays
San Francisco (since relocating from New York)

Image
Larry Bird said he would look at the rafters for inspiration, while other players at their home arenas would look at an empty ceiling!

NBA - Franchises that have never won the NBA Finals:

Phoenix Suns
Cleveland Cavaliers
Los Angeles Clippers
Utah Jazz
Denver Nuggets
Indiana Pacers
New Jersey Nets
Dallas Mavericks
New Orleans Hornets
Orlando Magic
Minnesota Timberwolves

NHL - Franchises that have never won a Stanley Cup Title:

Buffalo Sabres
Phoenix Coyotes
San Jose Sharks
Nashville Predators
Atlanta Thrashers
Columbus Blue Jackets
Minnesota Wild
Los Angeles Kings
St. Louis Blues
Vancouver Canucks
Washington Capitals
Ottawa Senators
Florida Panthers

Image
Some franchises would hang ANY banner in the rafters! Not the Canadiens who have 24 of them up high!

NFL - Franchises that have never won a Super Bowl:

Atlanta Falcons
Buffalo Bills
Cleveland Browns
Minnesota Vikings
Philadelphia Eagles
San Diego Chargers
Cincinnati Bengals
Carolina Panthers
Phoenix Cardinals
Seattle Seahawks
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans

Image
The Steelers have a room just for the 6 Super Bowl trophies, while other NFL teams have a room!

So take heart if your team loses in a championship game, most fans from these franchises have NEVER won a championship so they don't know what it feels like. At least your team goes to the post season, while the other teams and fans USUALLY gone fishin' when playoff and championship time comes.

(Perez Hilton) Everyone knows that David Hasselhoff has a drinking problem! Hasselhoff just had an episode last month at a London hotel a month ago and now we've heard he had another one in Canada! Hasselhoff was later escorted off the premises. Sheesh! Will someone, anyone, help this guy?????

Actor Verne Troyer, a stalker? That's what a former girlfriend says!

Yvette Monet, former girlfriend of Austin Powers star Verne Troyer, has filed a restraining order against the diminutive star because he is constantly harassing her! Troyer has sent numerous emails and texts to the Minnesota model after being broken up for months. The messages have become increasingly threatening and at one point, Troyer said that she better "watch yoursel" and that he had friends with guns!

The restraining order is up until Dec. 2 and Troyer has been ordered to stay away from Monet's home, workplace, and vehicle. "Crazy" comes in all packages!

Nicole Forrester, has lots to tell on married actor Josh Duhamel!!!!

Atlanta stripper, Nicole Forrester, who passed a polygraph test about her affair with Josh Duhamel, is now hitting the "airwaves" (The Bert Show on Q100) giving all the details about the actor! Duhamel's legal team has sent the radio station, where she gave an interview, a "cease-and-desist" letter demanding that they take off the interview off of their (radio station) website! The station did comply at first but put it back on the website and said to the legal team "prove Forrester wrong!"

Forrester claims that Duhamel begged her to take back her statements. Apparently, Forrester is NOT backing down.

Duhamel will surely be locked in Fergie's "doghouse" for awhile! Woof!

ImageImage
NFL player Chris Chambers was a victim of a stalker who developed a "fatal attraction!"

(Sportsbybrooks) Former San Diego Chargers wide receiver Chris Chambers release by the team earlier this week (he was recently picked up by K.C. Chiefs) was a surprise to some in the NFL but there were other reasons besides Chambers having a "down year." That reason had to do with a woman named Stacey Saunders who has made the Chambers family life a "living nightmare!" Chambers admits he had a brief affair with the San Diego woman and broke it off soon thereafter. That's when the harrassment started to occur with numerous phone calls and text messages to the point that it led to his divorce proceedings with his wife and his poor performance on the field.

Sounds familiar? The same episode has happened to NBA star Dirk Nowitzki, NBA player Chris Douglas-Roberts, and former LA Rams quarterback Tony Banks. This "Fatal Attraction-syndrome" is real and you never know who you're involved with until it's too late!

Yankees win the 2009 World Series and is a ratings bonanza on Fox!

Mariah Carey. From covergirl makeup as a singer (left) to a "no-holds barred without makeup" appearance in the role of a social worker (right), Carey has transformed herself into a bonafide actress in her latest film!

The transformation of glamorous pop singer Mariah Carey to the role of a social worker in the film, "Precious," is stunning. The role for Ms. Weiss, a social worker/counselor for the title character Precious (Gabourey Sidibe) required no makeup, according to Director Lee Daniels. Carey's role has won praises from the Sundance film festival and some in the industry have considered her portryal as "oscar-worthy" along with actress Mo' Nique who portrays Precious' overbearing and evil mother. Just as remarkable is model/actress Paula Patton's portryal of an inspiring teacher who symphatizes with Precious.

However, it is Carey's stunning performance that is a show-stopper and the scene in which she interviews Precious and her Mom galvanizes the film.

LOW-budget/Independent/Foreign Films You Must See!!!!!!!!

Rihanna's Talks About the Night She Was Beaten, Part 2 Interview on GMA!

Image
Rihanna opens up about the night she was beaten by Chris Brown!

(EW) The second teaser clip from Rihanna’s interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer just aired on Good Morning America. While yesterday’s segment dealt mostly with what followed her assault at the hands of ex Chris Brown, the 5-minute excerpt shown today focused squarely on the events of that awful February night.

Rihanna went into detail at Sawyer’s prompting, recounting a disturbing timeline that will be familiar to anyone who’s read the official police report on the incident. First she and Brown argued over a text message he received from a woman; then he violently attacked her. “It was ugly,” Rihanna told Sawyer, becoming choked up with emotion. “That’s all I kept thinking the whole time: When is it going to stop? When is it going to stop?…I was bleeding. I was swollen in my face. There was no way of me getting home.”

Rihanna’s full interview with Diane Sawyer will air on 20/20 tonight.

Actress Sandra Bullock In Custody Battle With Husband Jesse James and his Ex-Wife!

ImageImage
Janine Lindemulder (left) and Jesse James and wife Sandra Bullock (right) are embroiled in a custody battle!

(NY DAILY NEWS) Actress Sandra Bullock, who is married to biker and "Monster Garage" star Jesse James, is locked in a custody battle with James' ex-wife, porn star Janine Lindemulder, for her five-year old child.

According to court documents, Bullock and James accuse Lindemulder of being an unfit mother who is married to a felon and falls asleep after drug binges.

The 40-year-old Lindemulder has appeared in over 100 adult movies and was recently released from jail for tax evasion.

However on "Good Morning America," the porn star insists that she's a changed woman.

"I am the best mother I can be," she told the TV show. "Yes, I have absolutely made horrific choices in the past. I've had my share of drugs. But then there's a huge portion of my life, a 10-year span, where there's nothing - I didn't need it."

In a letter to the judge at Lindemulder's sentencing, Bullock addressed concerns for the daughter's safety.

"I myself have stopped working like I used to in order to be here with Jesse and the kids because we are on constant high alert," Bullock wrote. "Never knowing what condition Janine will be in, and even more concerning, the condition [the girl] will be in.

"I know the term 'stepmother' carries many connotations, one of them being 'glorified babysitter. My commitment and responsibility to [the girl] ... goes beyond that."

Bullock and James gained a temporary order of full custody over the child when Lindemulder served her six-month sentence. The couple is currently seeking to make the order permanent.

But now that she has been released from jail, Lindemulder isn't giving up the fight.

"What would give her the right to take away my daughter?" Lindemulder asks about the actress. "Sandy doesn't know what goes on in my house. I'd love for her to. Please come over, you know, I'll make dinner, you know, let's sit down, [as] two women."

TMZ Interviews Doctor Arnold Klein about Michael Jackson!

Image
Arnold Klein, in the background with Michael Jackson, was Jackson's Dermatologist and close friend

TMZ scored an interview with Michael Jackson's Doctor, Arnold Klein, who appeared at the TMZ studios to talk with founder/lawyer Harvey Levin. Klein was not only the King of Pop's Doctor but also a close friend. Here are some of the highlights of that 96 minute interview:

Klein said . . . "Michael Jackson was a drug-addict". . .

Klein said that he gave painkillers that were necessary for the procedures that involved scalp injections and work done around Michael's eyes. Procedures that were painful.

Klein never gave MJ propofol (a strong painkiller that can only be administered at a hospital due to its lethal effects--hospital equipment is needed to monitor the patient who takes this drug).

He knew OTHER Doctors who gave MJ propofol. MJ would "shop" for Doctors who would give him the lethal drug.

MJ asked Klein for Propofol because he had trouble sleeping. Klein declined MJ's request.

He made 2 unsuccessful interventions to save MJ!

Image
Michael Jackson's face was ravaged by plastic surgery, according to Dr. Klein.

Klein knew of MJ's 20 nose job procedures by other Doctors. Each procedure required MJ to be sedated with painkillers. These procedures may have led to MJ's voracious appetite for painkillers.

. . . MJ was hardly in contact with the family. . . Klein said that there was NO FAMILY RELATIONSHIP whatsoever. . .

. . . MJ didn't like Jermaine Jackson. . . MJ refused to allow his children's faces to be exposed in public. He was adamant about protecting his children's identities. . .

.. . MJ was a great father. . . His relationship with his children was affectionate. . .

Image
Michael Jackson with his children.

....MJ loved Katherine to a certain extent. . . Klein said MJ blames the Mom for allowing his Dad to beat him. . .

. . MJ peed in front of people in a cup, thus exposing his "junk." He didn't consider it offensive to pee in front of children because HE thought HE was a child himself. . .

. . . For some strange reason, just days before he died, MJ said goodbye to EVERYONE in Arnold Klein's office. Klein said it was strange and almost eerie that MJ would do that. It was like MJ knew he going to die. . . .

She is on a crusade that THESE SHOWS should have a disclaimer that some portions of the show have been "pre-recorded."

Unfortunately, all the concerts from these artists are done this way for a variety of reasons such as complicated dance routines that may require lip syncing or to prevent the singer from sounding "hoarse" after a long set. Whatever the case, Virginia Judge's crusade may be sincere but lip syncing is only a small part of a concert. That's the nature of the music business.

Yankee skipper Joe Girardi will wear the No. 28 during the 2009-2010 season, hoping for a 28th title! For Yankee fans, they won't accept anything less!

The story of NY Yankees Joe Girardi, just hours after winning the World Series, ran across a dangerous freeway (speeds are up to 80mph!) to help a woman, who had crashed her car into a wall was truly courageous. However, Girardi has the balls to change his No. 27 after winning the organization's 27th title and is NOW ready to wear the No. 28! Completely gratuitous!

You can bet Steinbrenner is watching and that No. 28 should be a realization!

Elizabeth Smart, is an internet sensation, but in the worst way!

New Mexico Lobo soccer player Elizabeth Smart has some major issues to deal with! In a game against BYU, Smart is seen taking part in some major unsportsmanlike-activity against her opponents! Haven't seen stuff like this since the Isiah Thomas' Detroit Pistons versus Larry Bird's Celtics games?

Smart is seen elbowing an opponent in the back, pulling a girl's hair and throwing the player to the ground, and laying some smack to the neck of another girl! Incredibly, she only received ONE yellow card for kicking the ball at a girl's face, which was the tamest insubordination of them all!

Lambert later apologized and was suspended indefinitely from all team practices, competition, and condtioning activities.

Anger management class, you have a new student!

Christmas Carol is No. 1 at the Box Office!

Image
"Christmas Carol" is No. 1 and signals the start of the holiday season!

(Ew) Disney’s A Christmas Carol got the holiday season started by spiriting $31 million at the box office, according to early estimates by Hollywood.com Box Office on Monday. The $175 million animated movie, which utilized performance-capture technology to allow Jim Carrey to play multiple roles from Charles Dickens’ beloved story, represented the best opening in director Robert Zemeckis’ career. And even though Carol performed a bit below expectations, the family film should hold up well in the coming weeks, especially since it’ll be playing on nearly 200 pricey IMAX screens until Avatar opens on Dec. 18.

The concert documentary Michael Jackson’s This Is It dropped only 40 percent in its second weekend, sliding into second place with $14 million. Not far behind was the new George Clooney comedy The Men Who Stare at Goats for a weekend total of $13.3 million. The Milla Jovovich alien-abduction film The Fourth Kind debuted in, appropriately enough, fourth place with $12.5 million, while the box-office phenomenon of the season, Paranormal Activity, recorded $8.6 million—good enough for fifth place. Activity, which reportedly cost only $11,000 to produce, has now grossed $97.4 million domestically. Such success is not in store for the Cameron Diaz horror flick The Box, which debuted in sixth place with $7.9 million and managed to garner a rare “F” grade from CinemaScore moviegoers.

Image
The cast members of the film "Precious" did very well at the box office despite limited release!

The most newsworthy box-office story of the weekend was the record-breaking opening for Precious, the Oprah-endorsed and Sundance-winning drama starring Mo’Nique, Mariah Carey, and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe. On only 18 screens, Precious grossed $1.8 million for a per-screen average of $100,000—the largest per-screen average ever for a movie opening in more than 10 theaters. With many Oscar prognosticators—including EW’s Dave Karger—calling the film one of the front-runners of the awards season, Precious has an undoubtedly bright future in store as it gradually expands into additional markets throughout November.

David Letterman Suspect Wants Extortion Charges Dismissed!

Image
David Letterman (left) and Robert Halderman (right). Halderman claims the so-called extortion attempt is just a case of a "pure commercial transaction." That's all?

Robert "Joe" Halderman and his legal team want the charges brought against him dismissed because it was NOT extortion it was a "pure commercial transaction."

Halderman, supposedly a budding screen writer, insists that the sex scandal and the so-called extortion of $25M from Letterman took away from the true issue: a commercial transaction between Halderman and Letterman in which he was trying to sell an exclusive screenplay rights to the comedian. Halderman just wanted a "written agreement" from Letterman.

The legal team also insisted that Halderman "discovered" evidence that Letterman's office created an environment of sexual misconduct and possible sexual harrasment!

So far Halderman's legal team have not addressed about their client demanding $25M from Letterman and sending him evidence of emails, texts, and other correspondence about his (Letterman) affair with staffer Stephanie Birkett. AND requesting a check and then trying to "cash" it at a bank and found out it "BOUNCED."

Story developing. . . .

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Diagnosed with Leukemia!

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been battling cancer for a year!

Jabbar Uses His Cancer Fight to Help Others!

(Perez Hilton) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, NBA great, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia since December 2008 and has been undergoing treatment ever since. He decided to "come-out" with his disease when he learned that many patients do not take their medications regularly and tend to skip out on doctor's appointments.

"I'm telling my story to encourage fellow patients to take charge of their health," said Kareem. "Work closely with your doctor, monitor your disease and, above all, take your medicine."

Kareem has been taking medication that targets the abnormal protein which causes the disease. If all goes according to plan, he will live a full normal life.

Kareem is a father of 5 children and is a coach on the Lakers staff.

Comedian Katt Williams Arrested for Burglary!

Image
Mug shot of Comedian Katt Williams. It is unknown whether Williams knew the gravity of his situation with this latest mug shot in Atlanta!

Comedian Katt Williams, 38, was arrested for burglary and criminal trespassing Sunday night in Atlanta. He has been accused of breaking into a home and and stealing valuable coins.

Maj. James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff's Department said that the break-in occurred 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, where a homeowner called the police to say that Williams had broken in to a home and stealing items. Police say that Williams entered the home with a crowbar and stole up to $3,500 worth of coins and jewelry.

Williams, who was released yesterday, said the arrest was just a misunderstanding. What?

This isn't the last time that Williams and law enforcement have crossed. Williams was sentenced to 3 years probation for a 2006 gun charge and was just arrested last year for a gun charge in New York. Incredibly, prosecutors dropped the gun charge in the NY case.

The comedian was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation last November and he mysteriously skipped his hosting duties at the 2008 BET hip-hop awards and an appearance on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

The "original L.T. (Lawrence Taylor)" was arrested for a hit-and-run on Sunday, hitting his Escalade against a van "twice" which caused it (van) to hit the guardrail 4 times before resting on the opposite side of the freeway! Taylor, 50, thought he just hit a guardrail and just drove away.

Taylor showed no signs of alcohol or drug use when Police stopped him at a nearby parking lot. He was charged with leaving the scene of the accident and careless driving.

Lisa Marie Nowak. The former astronaut avoids prison in an "astronaut love triangle" that brought national headlines in 2007!

(CNN) Lisa Marie Nowak, a former astronaut who drove 900 miles wearing NASA diapers to cut down a "third wheel" (Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman) in a bizarre "astronaut love triangle" that involved her then astronaut-boyfriend, pleaded guilty to burglary of conveyance and a charge of misdemeanor battery inflicted on Shipman. She was only sentenced to two days in jail. Her light sentence was due in fact to her lack of a criminal record and her service as an astronaut and in the Navy.

In 2007, Nowak drove 900 miles to Orlando airport and wore NASA diapers to avoid any stops in order to inflict harm on Shipman, who was arriving on a plane at the airport. Nowak donned a disguise and tried to use pepper spray on an unsuspecting Shipman at the Orlando parking lot.

Nowak attacked Shipman because she (Shipman) was seeing Nowak's astronaut boyfriend at the time.

Michael Jackson's Dad, Joe Jackson. Up to "no good" AGAIN!!!!!!

Joe Jackson's lawyer, Brian Oxman, said that if Michael Jackson's Dad doesn't get an allowance, he will make a creditor's claim on his son's estate! He wouldn't dare? Oh yes he would! Oxman claims that if Joe Jackson doesn't receive an allowance, he (MJ) would have breached a contract he had with his Father. Oxman didn't give any details on WHAT CONTRACT Daddy Joe had with MJ.

Furthermore, Oxman believes that Katherine Jackson made a "deal" with the executors (Branca and McClain) of the MJ Estate and that's why she decided NOT to challenge her son's will.

Boy, if we only knew what kind of family MJ had to deal with?

Jamie McCourt, ex-Dodger CEO, denies that she had an affair before she separated from husband Frank McCourt.

Jamie McCourt, once the CEO of the Dodgers organization and fired by her soon-to-be ex-husband Frank McCourt, isn't keeping quiet on the rumors that she had an affair before her and husband "officially" separated on July 6. McCourt made it clear in an interview with LA Times columnist TJ Simers by saying, "I have never been with another man until the marriage broke up. Ever. Ever."

McCourt did acknowledge that she is currently involved in a romantic relationship but denies that it did not begin until after the separation. Frank McCourt accused Jamie of "insubordination and inappropriate behavior" and fired her on October 21. Jamie filed for divorce soon thereafter and laying claim to half of the Dodgers organization and the couple's $1.2Billion in assets.

She also asked to be reinstated as CEO but the request was rejected by the LA Superior Court on November 5. However, the question regarding ownership of the organization is another matter and won't be resolved for some time.

Mike Tyson Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Paparazzi!

Image
Former champ, Mike Tyson, was arrested at LAX for allegedly punching an "overly-aggresive" photographer!

(TMZ) Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was involved in a "throwdown" at LAX last night with a member of the paparazzi. Tyson claims that one of the photogs got so close that he allegedly bumped into the former champ. That's when sources said that Tyson punched the photog in the face and blood was everywhere!

Tyson was arrested outside the United Airlines terminal.

Tyson was at the United ticket counter when the incident occurred. The photographer, Tony Echeverria, got punched in the face, fell to the ground, and walked away, leaving a trail of blood. Both made a citizen's arrest on each other. The boxer was taken away in a squad car while an ambulance took the injured Echeverria to a local hospital. Both are expected to be booked for misdemeanor battery. If Tyson is prosecuted, being a former boxer, he could be booked for assault with a deadly weapon

Tyson's rep said that the champ was travelling with his 10-month old daughter when he was attacked by an overly aggressive photographer--and acted in self-defense for his child. It should be noted that Tyson's 4 year-old daughter died in a treadmill accident this past May.

He was booked for misdemeanor battery and released on his own recognizance at 833pm PST.

(Perez Hilton) UPDATE: After Tyson's run-in at LAX last night, Arizona officials are investigating if the former boxer violated his probation. He's been on probation for 3 years since 2007, after being convicted of felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor DUI in Arizona.

If Arizona prosecutors find Tyson guilty of violating his probation, he could face up to 5 years in jail! This could happen if charges are filed against the former boxer.

Country Music Awards Results!

Taylor Swift won the Entertainer of the Year award at the Country Music Awards last night!

(Boston Herald) Taylor Swift, the 19-year-old singer opened the 43rd annual CMA Awards last night with her single, “Forever and Always,” and went on to win album, female vocalist and entertainer of the year. “I want to thank every single person in this room tonight for not running up on the stage during this speech,” Taylor gushed.

As expected, the show mocked the now-infamous moment when Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech during the MTV Video Music Awards in September. “Mama, Dont Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Kanye,” co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood sang.

Image
CMAs Co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood make a wonderful team that they should be a permanent fixture at the award show!

The night’s only awkward moment came when Sugarland won for best vocal duo over Brooks & Dunn, who had announced their retirement in August. “Well, we don’t usually expect this, but we definitely didn’t this year,” said lead singer Jennifer Nettles. She invited Brooks & Dunn up on stage during their acceptance speech. They declined and Nettles quickly said, “Thank you for what you’ve done for us. Thank you for what you’ve done for country music. It’s an honor to be in your category.”

Link
Carrie Underwood's elaborate performance of her no.1 country hit, "Cowboy Casanova"

The show was big on performances and short on awards. Only 10 awards were given out during the three-hour show, which featured 19 performances. But that was OK,because most of the performances were terrific, as country music’s biggest stars sang their hits. Standouts include Paisley’s poignant rendition of “Welcome to the Future,” Underwood’s sassy “Cowboy Casanova” and Tim McGraw’s upbeat “Southern Voice.” Instead of singing their hit “Chicken Fried,” newcomers the Zac Brown Band did a rousing rendition of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

Aerosmith: He (Tyler) said, He (Perry) said! Breakup or No Breakup?

Image
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler (left) with "right-hand man" Joe Perry

(Billboard) "Supposed" Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler made an impromptu appearance with his sidekick Joe Perry and his band the Joe Perry Project in New York last night to announce that HE (Tyler) wasn't leaving Aerosmith! Perry did not know that Tyler was in the venue and he didn't know that the frontman would announce his intentions to the crowd!

Perry has reiterated that since Tyler wants to take 2 years OFF from the band, the rest of the members want to KEEP WORKING. Perry is firm that Tyler is leaving Aerosmith and Perry will continue the band in some capacity.

Without Tyler? Perry is one of the baddest rock guitarists of all time but you have to have Tyler with you!

Stay tuned, this looks like it won't end, we hope (gulp).

Brazil, home of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, Recent Blackout Brings Outcry to Upgrade Infrastructure!

Image
Most of Brazil endured a power outage for more than 5 hours on Tuesday, which left many officials defending their country's infrastructure!

Brazilian Official defends country's infrastructure and said other countries have endured longer power outages!

(AP) Bad weather that contained heavy rains, lightning, and strong winds may have been blamed for the recent blackout of Brazil which plunged nearly a third ---60 million---of the population into sheer darkness for more than 5 hours, but officials are trying to restore confidence in the country's infrastructure before the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics arrive.

The weather made transformers on a vital high-voltage transmission line short-circuit, Brazil's energy minister said. Two other transmission lines also went down as part of an automatic safety mechanism.

"The problem was exclusively with the transmission lines," Energy Minister Edison Lobao said.

The blackout cut electricity to 18 of Brazil's 26 states and left them without power for up to four hours Tuesday night. The federal district that includes the national capital of Brasilia was spared. About 7 million people also lost water service in Sao Paulo. All of Paraguay briefly lost power.

Image
Rio's residents were trapped in elevators and in sweltering apartments with temperatures in the 90s!

The massive Itaipu dam on the border with Paraguay — the world's second-largest hydroelectric power producer — was completely shut down for the first time in its 25-year history.

In Brazil's largest cities of Rio and Sao Paulo, people were trapped in elevators, stranded on commuter trains or stuck in sweltering apartments during unusually hot spring temperatures that have hit the 90s.

"I wonder how this could have happened and am worried about what it does to Brazil's image, especially with the World Cup and Olympics coming up," said Wesley Aragao, a 24-year-old sailor who waited out the blackout at his parents' house in northern Rio. "Nobody likes to be left in the dark."

The Brazilian Olympic Committee would not comment on Tuesday's blackout, but among the guarantees made to the International Olympic Committee is that Rio will be isolated from the nation's power system exactly to avoid problems like this. The city will have its own direct energy feed during the games.

Analysts said the blackout shows Brazil's lack of investment in the power system at a time when Latin America's largest economy is booming.

Lobao said Silva's government has invested about $13 billion in the transmission lines, and another $4.7 billion in transformers since 2003.

The energy minister also defended the strength of the Brazilian system — pointing out that it took a day to fully restore power after a blackout hit the East Coast of the U.S. and Canada in 2003, leaving 50 million people in the dark. He mentioned lengthier in blackouts other nations, including Italy and Japan.

CBS' broadcast of Strikeforce (Fedor vs. Rogers) on Saturday night brought good ratings to build on!

(MMA weekly) The CBS presentation of Strikeforce with main event Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers did not exactly hit a home run with a showing of 3.79M viewers, but that's because the Fedor vs Rogers match ran over its alotted time. The main event was shown after the "prime time" hours (7am-11p) and the Nielsens cannot count those numbers for the overall broadcast. Whatever the case, the match between Jake Shields vs Jason "Mayhem" Miller easily outpointed College Football on ABC.

No matter, CBS is happy to have a match with an established MMA star in Fedor rather than that Kimbo-guy! After Fedor's knockout of Rogers, CBS is salivating when Fedor takes on a new opponent in 2010!

Carrie Prejean. She's NOT having a good year!

Former Miss California Carrie Prejean is on a rampage of sorts. First, there are claims from Prejean's boyfriend (the one she made the sex tape for) that SHE wanted him to lie about her age when she made the video. Media reports say that she was 17 at the time but her boyfriend said she was 20! Yikes!

Second, Prejean walked out on Larry King Live last night due to King's questions regarding WHY she dropped her $1M lawsuit against the Miss California Pageant organization. Prejean said that she was not allowed to discuss the matter due to confidential terms of the agreement. After going back-and-forth on the subject, a clearly incensed Prejean walked off the set.

Richard and Mayumi Heene, pictured with their 3 boys, are pleading guilty!

The Father of "Balloon Boy" Richard Heene will plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting to authorities with the hope that his wife Mayumi Heene, a Japanese citizen, will avoid deportation.

Heene and his wife are accused of falsely reporting to authorities that his 7 year-old son Falcon was trapped inside a homemade helium balloon that flew over Colorado for almost 2 hours. The incident was later found out to be part of a hoax that was planned to obtain a reality show.

The Heenes are facing 90 days in jail for Richard and 60 days in jail for Mayumi.

Nicholas Prugo. He's "snitching" on his fellow Hollywood gang members.

One of the leaders of the Hollywood Burglar gang, Nicolas Prugo, is "ratting-out" his 6 other colleagues and has asked to be separated from the others due to "death threats." The gang had robbed many of Hollywood Hills' celebs (Paris Hilton, Audrina Patridge, Lindsay Lohan, among others) over the past year and were all "rounded up" last month. Prugo was the first to be arrested.

Prugo has been placed in protective custody.

UT coach Lane Kiffin just saw his "clean record of arrests" go out the front door!

(Knoxville Sentinel) Three University of Tennessee freshman football players this morning face attempted armed robbery charges. Janzen Jackson, Michael Edwards and Nu'Keese Richardson, all 18, were charged this morning after an armed robbery attempt at a Pilot station on Cumberland Avenue, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Each player faces three counts of attempted armed robbery.

UT athletic director Mike Hamilton released a statement this morning about the episode.

"At this time we are currently evaluating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson and Nu'Keese Richardson," Hamilton said. "Any decisions or comments regarding their status will not be made until the evaluations are complete."

Both Richardson and Jackson are coming off a week in which they faced discipline from coach Lane Kiffin, the former for missing a practice and the latter for a violation of team rules.

Kiffin has touted the discipline in his program and a clean arrest record as recently as Wednesday's SEC teleconference. Oh well. . . that clean record just "went out the door!"

The Intel Sales Department would make the "mafia" proud!

(LA Times) Intel is paying Silicon Valley rival Advanced Micro Devices $1.25B to squash a legal action over highly-questionable sales tactics used by Intel. The rift between the microprocessing giants is part of a large lawsuit that deals with antitrust charges against Intel. In effect, Intel paying the $1.25B doesn't exactly mean that AMD is letting Intel "off the hook."

Intel still faces charges in Europe and South Korea for their illegal bullying tactics and providing incentives to PC makers if they choose Intel chips over AMD. The lawsuit by AMD claims that Intel has systematically kept AMD market share under 20% by threatening PC makers and offering financial incentives for avoiding AMD chips. Execs from Gateway have also complained about Intel's scare tactics.

Intel has defended its rebates to big Intel customers as legitimate -- and good for PC buyers who enjoyed lower prices.

Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson, received a suspension and fine for a Coach that can't be imagined in US sports!

The English Football (aka SOCCER) Association has suspended Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson for 4 games and fined $30,000 for calling a 49 year-old referee, Alan Wiley, in their last soccer match as being "not fit" enough to officiate in the top division and for purposely taking a 30-second breather because he needed a rest.

Many have criticized the EFA for being "too soft" in their punishment of Ferguson and that the manager should NOT have questioned the referee for his ability to do his job and his integrity.

Wow! $30,000 and suspended for FOUR GAMES? And, the EFA was being criticized for being too SOFT? In the US, there would be an OUTCRY if that kind of penalty was levied on their coaches!

Nicolas Cage. He'll have a "heck of time" selling this property that is reputed to be a "haunted house!"

Actor Nicolas Cage owes a lot of money, so he's unloading most of the properties he's bought over the years. However, no property is getting the notoriety than the prestigious LaLaurie Mansion in New Orleans he purchased a while back. The renovated mansion now serves as luxury apartments, which ONCE WAS a haunted house! Yikes! Check out the numerous videos on youtube and the various web sites which labels the house as the "Most Haunted Site in New Orleans!"

Shouldn't be hard to sell right? Yah right!

Homelessness in Hawaii On the Rise!

Image
Photo of the homeless in tents situated on the Waianae coast about 3 years ago, shows the rising problem of homelessness then.

(Honolulu Advertiser/Maria Vorsino) The number of homeless people in shelters or served through outreach programs statewide increased in the last fiscal year — with about 520 more people going into shelters — in what advocates say is more evidence the economic downturn is hitting families hard.

The University of Hawai'i Center on the Family's annual homeless service utilization report released today showed there were 7,501 people in homeless shelters statewide in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2009 — up about 7 percent from the fiscal year before.

Meanwhile, 7,484 homeless were served through outreach programs in the state, an increase of 720 homeless people compared with fiscal year 2007, the latest year available.

Of those in shelters, about 39 percent were under 17 years old.

And about half of those who moved into shelters came from the streets.

The increase last fiscal year represents the fifth straight year the number of people in homeless shelters statewide has gone up. There were about 36 percent more homeless people in shelters statewide in fiscal year 2009, compared with fiscal year 2005, a draft copy of the study said.

A good chunk of that increase is attributed to new homeless shelters opening in the Islands, especially on the Wai'anae Coast. But advocates say the most recent figures, coming in a year when few shelter beds were added, are more proof the ranks of the homeless are growing. And, homeless advocates say, things aren't expected to get better anytime soon.

Key Statistics:

• About 19 percent of those in shelters are 5 and under.

• Military veterans made up 12 percent of shelter users.

• Some 61 percent of sheltered adults had lived in Hawai'i for at least a decade.

• About 30 percent of sheltered adults were working full- or part-time.

The report is based on data from 44 shelters.

The fiscal year 2008 figures are based on data compiled from 41 shelters.

The three shelters not counted in 2008 are small transitional facilities. Onlookers and study authors say they wouldn't account for the increase of 520 people in shelters statewide.

The report also provides data on the long-term homeless, or those who have been homeless for a year or more or had four or more episodes of homelessness in the past three years. It found that 23 percent of those at shelters and 31 percent of those who have accessed outreach services are experiencing long-term homelessness. Of the long-term homeless who were in shelters, 22 percent were under 12 years old and 6 percent were between 13 and 17.

Meanwhile, about one-third of the long-term homeless in shelters had a disability.

Last month, there were 1,664 singles and 480 families on waiting lists for shelters statewide, according to the Hawai'i Public Housing Authority's homeless programs branch.

(Comment) This report does not take into account, the amount of people who are NOT documented as homeless (the ones who are NOT going to these homeless shelters for help). Those are the people that live under bridges, in cars, in abandoned buildings, on the streets, and in a relative's/friend's home. Although there is a task force that advocates to the needs of the homeless, there is NO FORMAL group/organization that has taken an actual census of the many who are homeless in Hawaii.

This is an issue that I feel passionate about because I've been working with the homeless on Maui when I was a resident and my 19 year-old cousin was homeless for about 5 months on Oahu 4 years ago.

NFL Bans "Guerilla Advertising" and Thwarts A Sensitive Issue Regarding Ex-NFL Players!

ImageImage
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (right) struck the Captain Morgan pose (left) but the NFL said that's a NO-NO!

(Nowpublic.com) The National Football League's ban on "guerilla advertising," as witnessed by the viewers of the Dallas Cowboys versus the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday in which Eagles tight-end Brent Celek did the "Captain Morgan" pose in the end zone, not only bans this form of "ambush advertising" but it also thwarts a sensitive issue regarding ex-NFL players!

"Captain Morgan" brand rum is NOT on the list of advertisers approved by the the NFL but the alcohol beverage company was promising to give $10,000 to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund--a non-profit fund for retired NFL players--for every player who struck a Captain Morgan pose (rleft knee up and bent, with the left hand resting on the knee).

Captain Morgan was even prepared to pay $100,000 per pose during the Super Bowl. However, the NFL will penalize any player who does the Captain Morgan pose in an effort to stop unsolicited advertising.

It is understandable that the NFL has their own advertisers to consider but to have a generous offer from Captain Morgan to help fund a worthy charitable foundation like the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund should be a case that something can be "worked out" between the players, Captain Morgan, and the NFL? After all, with the NFL getting bad publicity from many ex-NFL athletes who are suffering from a culmination of concussions and other debilitating ailments, a deal could have been negotiated?

Whatever the case, the NFL had the opportunity to help their own--ex-NFL players, who made the game what it is today--but they "dropped the ball again."

Brandy already settled with the victim's two children for $300,000 each. She also settled with the other injured driver, Mallory Ham, back in July.

The last plaintiff, the victim's husband, has finally agreed to a settlement with the singer. Terms of the agreement are secret.

Michael Jackson's former manager brings in his claim! Oh, it's Friday, ain't it?

All was "quiet on the Western Front" until Dr. Tohme Tohme, Michael Jackson's former manager, chimed in with his creditor's claim from the Michael Jackson Estate. Well, it's Friday, you know?

Tohme Tohme (T2) claims are mainly over the sale of Neverland Ranch in 2008. T2 says that HE was the one that brought in Colony Capital LLC to the table. Neverland Ranch was sold to Colony for $23M. T2 wants his cut of the sale, which amounts to $2.3M.

T2 also claims that MJ owes him 15% of the singer's gross compensation within the entertainment industry. . . but T2 hasn't come up with the figures yet on THAT ONE! Can I hear millions for that one?

So for starters. . . it's $2.3M for now!

"2012" Earns $65M at the Box Office!

Image
"2012" conquered the box office this past weekend!

(EW) Director Roland Emmerich’s end-of-the world tale 2012 took in an estimated $65 million stateside and an additional $160 million overseas at the box office this past weekend. The John Cusack thriller brought in more than its $200 million budget in its opening weekend, a huge win for Sony Pictures. Add in the spectacular limited release reign of Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire and the weekend was a solid one even if it couldn’t surpass last year at this time when Sony’s Quantum of Solace was top dog on the list.

In second place was Disney’s A Christmas Carol, which despite opening softly last weekend, held up well in its second weekend in theaters, dropping only 26%. The Robert Zemeckis, CG-animated film grossed $22.3 million, with 14% of its tally coming from IMAX’s 182 runs. Its total cume now stands at $63 million. Third place belonged to the George Clooney-starrer The Men Who Stare At Goats. Dropping an estimated 51% from last weekend, the film grossed an additional $6.2 million, putting its ten-day cume at $23 million.

Image
George Clooney versus a goat in the comedy, "Men Who Stare At Goats"

Fourth place was Lionsgate’s Precious, which continues to have one of the most astounding limited-release runs in box office history. Adding 156 theaters to its teeny opening weekend run, the Lee Daniels-directed film earned $6 million this weekend, for an incredible per-screen average of $35,000. The movie has earned close to $9 million in only two weeks in release.

Slot number five belonged to Michael Jackson’s This is It, which lost a steep 61% at $5.1 million. The concert film/documentary has now earned $67 million in its three weeks in release and is set to stay in theaters through Thanksgiving weekend. The only other wide release to open this weekend was Focus Features’ British import Pirate Radio, which grossed outside of the top ten with only $2.8 million. Despite success overseas, the Philip Seymour Hoffman comedy didn’t travel well stateside.

Come back next week when The Twilight Saga: New Moon is sure to have a record-breaking opening.

Prime-Time Television's Latest Report Card!

Image
The cast members of "Glee." The show is bringing the "all important" 18-49 year-old demographic viewers to Fox!

(LA Times) A few new hits have emerged -- real hits, not just middling shows that PR people and overexcited fans wish were hits. This hit list includes ABC's sitcom "Modern Family," CBS' crime drama "NCIS: Los Angeles" and Fox's animated "The Cleveland Show," a spinoff of "Family Guy." The herds are finding other fresh favorites too, such as ABC's sci-fi remake "V," CBS' court drama "The Good Wife," Fox's exuberantly goofy high-school musical "Glee" and CW's zeitgeist-grabbing "Vampire Diaries."

Image
CW's "The Vampire Diaries." The young, handsome cast is bringing in Twilight Saga/Vampire fans to the the network!

But a reality check is in order. For all the good feelings stoked by these early successes, three of the five broadcasters, according to data from the Nielsen Co., are still down compared with last season among young adults, the demographic that advertisers care about most. ABC, CBS and NBC have all slipped, with NBC off 10%, thanks in large part to declines stemming from "The Jay Leno Show" at 10 p.m. weeknights. Among the freshman series that have already tanked are ABC's fantasy "Eastwick" and the sitcom "Hank," as well as NBC's medical drama "Trauma." Last week, Fox yanked the second-season sci-fi series "Dollhouse."

What's IN:

Fox's The Cleveland Show, Glee
CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Wife
ABC's Modern Family, Cougar Town, "V" series
NBC's nothing really. . .
CW's Vampire Diaries

What's OUT:

ABC's Hank, Eastwick
NBC's Trauma
Fox's Dollhouse

Image
ABC's "Cougar Town." The show is one of the main pieces of ABC's attempt to build a Comedy Night similar to NBC's heydey with Seinfeld in the 90s.

NBC's The Jay Leno Show has been bashed by critics since its debut. Network executives hope the Leno show ratings improve once the rival networks start showing "reruns". Kind of pathetic that NBC execs have resorted to mediocrity-thinking that their favored Leno show would have to beat their rival's "old-retread shows" rather than new ones? If Leno doesn't, then you can expect some changes on the way guaranteed!

Court Denies Appeal Over "Redskins" Trademark!

Image
Owner Dan Snyder and the Redskins' organization and fans can rest easy for now until the next lawsuit arrives!

(CNN) The Washington Redskins (3-6) are struggling this season, but the organization got a break Monday after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Native Americans calling the pro club's trademark "disparaging."

At issue was whether plaintiffs were decades too late in filing a lawsuit, or whether that registered trademark should have been denied years ago since as plaintiffs claim " 'redskins' is today and has been historically a disparaging racial epithet that brings them into contempt, ridicule, and disrepute."

The legal dispute is over what's called the doctrine of laches -- negligence or delay in asserting a claim.

The justices without comment refused to intervene in the dispute, effectively ending the suit.

A lawsuit was first filed in 1992. Among the plaintiffs is Suzan Shown Harjo of Washington, a Cheyenne/Hodulgee Muscogee and a longtime advocate for Native American rights.

Image
"Chief Zee," the Redskin "mascot" can continue to wear his headress for now

The Redskins name and logo was adopted in 1933 when the team was based in Boston, Massachusetts, and had been known as the Braves. In a legal brief filed with the court, the team said the name was changed to honor the Redskins coach at the time, William Henry "Lone Star" Dietz, a Native American.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted a formal trademark in 1967, and it has been renewed several times since. The team has said it has spent "millions of dollars ... promoting, advertising, and protecting its mark."

A Patent Office appeals board in 1999 canceled the trademarks, but the Redskins successfully appealed in federal court.

The question for the courts was interpretation of a federal law that allows cancellation of a registration "at any time" if the trademark comprises "matter which may disparage ... persons, living or dead ... or bring them into contempt, or disrepute."

Image
Colt Brennan in the Redskins unis, considered one of the most recognizable uniforms in the NFL.

A federal appeals court ultimately decided that the law's protections did not apply in this case and that the suit was filed too late. Native Americans have said the trademark should never have been granted in the first place.

Efforts to to abolish sports nicknames also have been fought in college sports. The NCAA, the governing board for college sports, recommended in 2005 that 18 schools remove "hostile or abusive" nicknames or mascots.

A state judge last week temporarily blocked efforts by University of North Dakota officials to change the team's name, the Fighting Sioux.

Image
Florida State Seminole "mascot"

The College of William & Mary removed two feathers on its sports logo after the NCAA deemed it insulting to Native Americans. The school was allowed to keep its Tribe nickname after being known as the Indians for decades. Other college teams whose logos have been allowed to continue include the Florida State University Seminoles and Central Michigan University Chippewas.

Professional sports teams with Native American names and imagery include the Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves baseball teams.

Michelle Wie, holding the Solheim cup, wins her first LPGA tournament!

(Honolulu Advertiser/Ann Miller) FINALLY, Hawaii's Michelle Wie wins a tournament! She won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico with a spectacular bunker shot on the final hole.

The trials and tribulations of Hawai'i's most famous golfer were forgotten yesterday. She has earned more than $1.7 million on the LPGA tour, with 20 top-10 finishes, including six heartbreaking runners-up and six third-place finishes. She has made much more in endorsements and appearances all over the world. That meant nothing as Wie finished that final foot off on the last hole yesterday and her mind went blank.

"I can't even talk," Wie said in a Golf Channel interview immediately after it was over. "I'm bewildered by everything. I feel so fortunate. I'm just so happy."

And so relieved. Asked about the pressure at her press conference, Wie declared "it's definitely off my back. I think that hopefully life will be a lot better, but I still have a lot of work to do. I still have a lot to improve. It just feels so great right now."

Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh "gets back" at 'SC coach Pete Carroll!

"What's Your Deal?" According to San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ray Ratto, those were the words that were uttered when Stanford football coach Jim Harbaugh and USC coach Pete Carroll greeted one another at midfield after the Cardinal stomping of the Trojans 55-21. Carroll started the postgame greeting and customary handshake with "What's your deal" to Harbaugh, while the Cardinal coach shot back with "What your deal." And. . . that's where it stood from there as they both went into their respective lockerrooms.

Was it Carroll being upset at Harbaugh for trying a 2-point conversion after scoring their 7th touchdown and being embarassed in his own backyard? Was it Harbaugh being upset for Caroll's comments after Harbaugh was first hired at Stanford?

Sounds like a good Stanford slogan for next year's Stanford vs 'SC game: What's Your Deal?

News of MMA heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar needing surgery on a mysterious intestinal disorder illness has been met with skepticism among the many blogs of mixed martial arts and sports media, in general. Controversial UFC President Dana White broke the news that Lesnar would be admitted to the Mayo clinic and he (Lesnar) may "never fight again."

So far, no specifics have been given about Lesnar's condition. The only news comes from the UFC's boss himself, which raises suspicion among MMA fans and the media on whether this news is a ploy to "detract" news from that "other" sport in which a Filipino boxer won and instead place the spotlight on MMA?

Supermodel Cindy Crawford's Alleged Extortionist Turns Himself In!

Image
Randy Gerber and Cindy Crawford were victimized by German model Edis Kayalar (inset), who just turned himself in to German Police!

(TMZ) German model Edis Kayalar, who allegedly tried to extort money from model Cindy Crawford, has turned himself in at a German Police Station. Kayalar allegedly tried to sell a photo of Crawford's 7 year-old daughter, who was bound-and-gagged in a chair while playing a game of "cops and robbers" with the nanny (without Crawford's knowledge). Kayalar was a friend of the Gerber's former nanny and allegedly stole the photo from her.

The German model was initially paid by Crawford's husband Randy Gerber for $1,000 for the original photo. Gerber later found out it wasn't the original photo. Several days later, Kayalar demanded even more money stating that he had a copy of the photo with him.

Crawford and Gerber later called the police, who turned it over to the FBI.

Kayalar was arrested by the LA County Sheriff's Department in September, placed in federal custody by ICE agents for an immigration violation. He was later deported.

However, the incident didn't end there. Kayalar called the couple from Germany and said that he had no choice but to extort money from them because they got him deported. He demanded $100,000 or else he would release the photo to the media.

Kayalar will appear before the judge today and faces up to 2 years in jail.

Nicolas Cage's Former Manager Fires Back!

Image
Nicolas Cage's former CPA/Manager, Samuel Levin, files a countersuit against the actor!

(Tmz) The guy blamed for Nicolas Cage's financial woes, Samuel Levin, has filed a countersuit against the actor. Levin claims that the actor squandered tens of millions of dollars and owed millions of dollars. . . in income taxes with no funds to pay back his tax debt! He adds in his countersuit that he warned Cage that he (Cage) would have to earn $30M a year in order to maintain his lavish lifestyle.

Levin cites the year 2007, in which Cage bought 3 homes totaling more than $33 mil, 22 cars (including 9 Rolls Royces), 12 pieces of expensive jewelry and 47 pieces of art.

And Levin says, Cage spent most of his free time "shopping for high-ticket purchases," including 15 homes, a Gulfstream jet, and a flotilla of yachts.

And there's this: Cage "also spent huge sums taking his sizable entourage on costly vacations and threw enormous, Gatsby-scale parties at his residences."

The countersuit goes on: "The pinnacle of [Cage's] spending spree came with his Quixotic acquisitions of Midford Castle in England and Schloss Neidstein Castle in Bavaria." Levin claims he warned Cage the castles were "decrepit" and needed a king's ransom just to make them habitable.

Levin claims Cage owes him $128,872.98 for unpaid management services.

BTW, Cage's new film Bad Lieutanant: Port of Call New Orleans opens on November 20!

Bud Adams. Actually to Adams, $250,000 is a "drop in the bucket."

(ESPN) NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell (or should we say "Badell?") knows how to fine an owner of an NFL team! Goodell fined Bud Adams, 86, billionaire/owner of the Tennesse Titans and one of the founders of the "No Fun League," a whopping $250,000 for showing the middle finger 2 times (once while in his luxury suite and the second time while on the field!) toward Buffalo Bills fans! All this during the 50th anniversary of the AFL and Bills owner Ralph Wilson and Adams' good friend, was going to be at the game to boot! Amazingly, Goodell and Adams had breakfast earlier on that same day of the ballgame?

Adams later apologized for the incident(s). The Titans won 41-17!

Mitchell, who was recently found mentally competent to stand trial by doctors, is facing a competency hearing on Nov. 30, and as part of her plea agreement, Barzee will testify against him then. Both face a number of kidnapping and sexual-assault charges in state court, as well.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is livid that she is, among 7 African-Americans, being invested by the House Ethics Committe!

(The Daily Beast/Politico) Seven African-American lawmakers are under investigation by the House Ethics Committee (HEC), while not a single white lawmaker is under any scrutiny. Although there are a substantial amount of white lawmakers on the list, the HEC is not conducting an investigation on those members YET. Coincidence? The 7 black lawmakers account for 15% of the total number of African-Americans in the House. An unamed House Democrat has said that members of the Congressional Black Caucus worry that they are being set up.

House members being investigated include: Maxine Waters and Laura Richardson of California, Charles Rangel (D-NY), Reps Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-MI), Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Donald Payne (D-NJ), and Del. Donna Christiansen (D-U.S. Virgin Islands). Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. would have been the 8th member investigated if the Justice Department hadn't asked the committe to "stand down."

Privately, the majority of black politicians are upset that they are being treated unfairly when it comes to the issue of ethics.
