RIP: Patrick Swayze 1952-2009


Patrick Swayze dies of pancreatic cancer

Patrick Swayze died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. He was 57.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008.

The National Enquirer had reported days ago that Swayze was released from an L.A. hospital to return home to die. His condition required to have medical assistance nearby at all times. He had reported to have suffered a mild heart attack and he had been battling an intestinal infection as his body was giving into the disease.

He was the star of such movies as "Ghost," "Dirty Dancing,"Road House," "Red Dawn," "Point Break," and "The Outsiders," Swayze was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

Swayze an accomplished dancer who was known for playing the "tough guy" or the leader in most of his films. In the classic, "The Outsiders," (1983) Swayze played a father-figure to a group of brothers in an Oklahoma town. In "Red Dawn," (1984) he played the leader of a rag-tag outfit of small-town rebels trying to "take back" their town, invaded by the Russian army.


Patrick Swayze in the "Outsiders" was the beginning for other actors such as a young Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, C.Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Diane Lane and Ralph Macchio

In the popular surf film, "Point Break," (1991) he was the leader of wave-riding bank robbers. In "Roadhouse," (1989), he portrayed a tough bouncer who was hired to clean up a sleazy bar in a small town. Finally, his most memorable roles were in "Dirty Dancing" (1987) as the dance instructor, Johnny Castle, at a Catskills resort in upstate New York which turned Swayze into a superstar and in the film "Ghost" (1990) in the hopeless-romantic role of Sam Wheat. Whoopi Goldberg won an Academy Award for best supporting actress and attributed her win to her supportive co-star Swayze.

Swayze's last role was on the A&E television series "The Beast" which premiered in January of 2009. Because of his declining health, Swayze was not able to promote the series and the show was cancelled in June.


Swayze and his beloved wife Lisa Niemi, who was a licensed pilot and on several occassions flew her husband up North to Stanford Medical Hospital for medical treatment.

His publicist, Annett Wolf, confirmed to CNN that Swayze had died at his home with family by his side. He is survived by his long-time wife of 34 years Lisa Niemi.

Janet Jackson and Madonna were part of a special tribute to Michael Jackson!

A Michael Jackson Tribute with an appearance by sister Janet Jackson, an appearance by Madonna, performances by Pink, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, the irreverant and unpredictable host Russell Brand, and Kanye West's interruption of Country Singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech added up to ratings gold for MTV on Sunday Night's broadcast.


Near the end of the show, Beyonce allowed Taylor Swift to finish her acceptance speech after "B" won best video of the year!

The 2009 MTV VMAs was watched by an astounding 27 Million viewers. That's a 17% increase from last year and the highest ratings since the 2005 VMAs. The show was the most watched of any cable show among the 12-34 age bracket.

President Obama was caught calling Kanye West (for his antics with Taylor Swift) a "Jackass!"

President Obama is learning a hard lesson dealing with the media. When the President was preparing for an interview on CNBC, he made a quick comment on the antics of Kanye West who interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance by saying, "I thought that was really inappropriate" and then he added, "He's (Kanye) a jackass." Oops! Couldn't CNBC cut the President some slack and edit that part OUT???? Oh well.

Jay Leno has every reason to smile! His show opened to big numbers!

Jay Leno Show was the ratings winner last night with almost 18M viewers tuning in to his show and a special sit-down interview with a "remorseful" Kanye West. West apologized for the third time but this time in front of live audience. In the interview, he promised to meet with Taylor Swift in person and apologize.


A shocked Taylor Swift is upstaged by Kanye West at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. West called Swift and apologized today.

Taylor Swift appeared on "The View" today and after her segment, she confirmed that she received a phone call personally from Kanye West who apologized for his actions on the VMAs. The apology was accepted by Swift.


Contrary to reports, Chris Noth and Tara Lynn Wilson are NOT engaged! Wilson must be thrilled by that announcement!

Sex and the City star Chris Noth announced his NON-engagement to his long-time girlfriend Tara Lynn Wilson. They have a son, Orion, together. There were media reports that the two were engaged but Noth squashed that notion by stating they were NOT engaged!


Colin Farrell, the "ladies man" will be a Dad again!

Actor Colin Farrell will be a daddy again with girlfriend Alicja Bachleda. He has a 5 year-old son, James, from model Kim Bordenave.

The NFL took the top two spots in the ratings during its debut!

(EW.com) NFL football is still the king of sports! NBC's offering of Sunday and Thursday Night football was the week's most viewed broadcasts. Sunday's much anticipated matchup of Green Bay versus the Chicago Bears was viewed by 21.1M while Thursday's matchup between defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennesse Titans garnered 20.9M.

Blockbuster is closing more stores until the end of next year!

Stiff competition from Netflix and Redbox, has caused Blockbuster to close from 810 to 960 video rental stores nationwide by the end of next year. The closures will be shrinking the video giant by 20%. The company has already closed 276 stores so far this year. The Blockbuster move is to save money and keep lenders happy.


Since his public apology, Tim Hardaway has been making amends by working with the gay community, a group he once hated!

(Miami Herald) Former NBA player Tim Hardaway, who in 2007 in a radio interview said, "I hate gay people" and ruined his post-basketball career is co-sponsoring a South Beach fundraiser for the Trevor Project---a national suicide prevention group for gay youth. ``Gays and lesbians, we don't have to accept the act, but we have to accept them as people. Especially children, we don't want them to kill themselves. We want them to live their lives as they want to,'' said Hardaway, who took several training sessions at YES Institute, a local anti-suicide group for gay youth.

The Beatles Still Relevant Today


The Beatles are still popular and saving the music industry once again!

(LA Times) The Beatles' sonically upgraded CDs sold 235,000 copies during their first two days in stores! A great achievement for a band that still sounds as fresh today as they did in the 60's.

When Beatlemania was first at its height, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr often said they had no idea whether their popularity would last for another six months or even as much as a year or two.

"It's not worth missin' your sleep for, is it?" Harrison said in 1963. Added McCartney: "We just hope we're gonna have quite a run."

This week, almost 40 years after the band split up, Beatles titles dominate the latest rankings of the nation's bestselling albums, signaling a new, if less hysteria-driven, wave of popularity for the Fab Four. The spike in popularity owes, of course, to the release last week of sonically upgraded CDs of all of the group's studio recordings and the arrival of the video game Rock Band.

The new and improved Beatles CDs sold 235,000 copies during their first two days in stores, and total first-week sales of the individual CDs and two box sets of the group's recordings were projected to be 500,000 to 600,000 copies, possibly higher.

That's welcome news for a beleaguered music industry, whose last significant uptick in sales came in the wake of Michael Jackson's death in June.

Beatles titles occupy nine spots in the Top 10 of Billboard's Pop Catalog Albums chart, which encompasses albums originally released more than 18 months ago (Jackson's "Number Ones," at No. 6, kept the Fab Four from a clean sweep of the Top 10); of the Top 20, 15 are Beatles albums.

When the tally of current albums is announced today, Jay-Z's "The Blueprint 3" and Miley Cyrus' "The Time of Our Lives" are expected to hold the No. 1 and 2 slots on Billboard's Top 200, with Beatles CDs taking four or five spots on the Top Comprehensive Albums rankings that combine current and catalog releases.

Many experts attribute the group's extraordinary longevity to one thing: the music.

"I would say first and foremost you have to credit the two main guys as songwriters," said "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell, one of today's leading arbiters of what flies and what doesn't in pop music. "That's really where it all stands up. This music has crossed every single generation, and doesn't sound like somebody that was locked in a certain decade. It still feels relevant."


Jay Leno, the "Future of Television?"

The "future of television" which is hyped by some media outlets is NBC's Jay Leno Show? Seems like the only thing "fresh" about the Jay Leno Show is that it was moved from 11pm to 10pm. Everything that was familiar on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" this past June is on the new version of the Jay Leno Show. All the "Tonight Show" skits and segments were just basically transferred to 10pm! We're not talking "ground-breaking" here.

If there is a plan to a return to Television's Golden Age of variety shows like Ed Sullivan, Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Dean Martin Show, Sonny and Cher Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and so many other shows where there was a short monologue, a comedy skit, a musical act, and so on, that would be welcomed.

"American Idol," "Dancing with the Stars," and "America's Got Talent" are the current ground-breaking shows that are bringing back the variety show back to television. The shows normally average more than 10M viewers for each broadcast with "Idol" being the top program with more than 25M or higher on a given night. Leno got more than 18M viewers on his debut and it remains to be seen if he can keep those numbers over a long period of time.

Jay Leno did believe before he left "The Tonight Show" that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and he follows that same formula on his new 10pm show. So don't pin "the future of television" on Jay Leno, it's not his fault---it's just a rehashing of what's been done in the past by Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, and many others.

Let's hope the writing gets better.

Coldplay "Plagarism Case" (Concerning the song, "Viva La Vida") Has Been Dismissed!

Court dismissal is based on "out of stipulation" which points to a settlement being reached by both parties

Guitarist/instrumentalist Joe Satriani lawsuit against the band Coldplay was dismissed by a California Central District court "upon stipulation," suggesting that an out-of-court settlement had been reached. The lawsuit stems from Satriani accusing Coldplay of plagarizing his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly" on their 2008 hit song, "Viva La Vida." If the lawsuit was settled out-of-court, that would be a surprise since Chris Martin, of Coldplay, said to Steve Kroft on a recent 60 minutes interview, that he did not steal the song.

Satriani's attorney, Howard E. King would not comment on the dismissal. Gosh, I wonder how much Satriani got from Coldplay? Bet that Coldplay's settlement required all parties to "shut up" about the case.

Legal strategists would look at the "out of court" settlement by Coldplay as a way to end a long drawn-out case that may eventually cost the popular band much more in the end. Settling the case now, would be a better alternative before the case becomes protractive and potentially be harmful to the band's image. The legal team of Coldplay may accentuate the positives and say that the settlement is a way to "move on" and should not be looked upon as an "admission of guilt." In this case, Coldplay would NEVER admit guilt, even after settling the case which may have a clause that all involved parties never speak about the case ever again.

The legal team of Satriani could see the settlement as "an admission of guilt" or a way of surrendering to overwhelming evidence OR the money offered by Coldplay was something Satriani could not refuse.

Either way, we'll never know since everything now is "hush-hush."

BTW, Forbes magazine listed Coldplay's earnings at $60M last year.

Anyway, Satriani is probably too busy enjoying his "victory" since he's now involved with the supergroup, Chickenfoot, with lead singer Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen member Michael Anthony, and Chad Smith on drums. Their self-entitled debut album "Chickenfoot" was certified Gold by the RIAA.

(Tmz) TMZ spies are hard at work checking out the new Fall lineup of "Dancing With the Stars" and have made certain observations about the celebrities:

The most difficult so far is singer Macy Gray. A source says "she doesn't want to be there" and she "regrets" signing on to the show.

Ashley Hamilton (son of Actor George Hamilton) is the described by the source as the Worst dancer and "painful to watch."

The source describes the best dancers as Donny Osmond, Aaron Carter, and Mya but the biggest surprise is UFC mixed-martial arts fighter Chuck Liddel. Liddel practices relentlessy (good thing he has a MMA background) and he has already lost 20lbs!

Finally, the source describes "Iron Chef" host Mark Dacascos as the "Most fun" and he uses his martial arts training to shake things up!


Chris Brown. The state of Virginia is serious about putting Brown to community service work!

(People) In his first day of community service (for beating singer/girlfriend Rihanna), Chris Brown, wearing a reflective vest was seen cleaning in and around the horse stables in Virginia. Brown's sentence, which amounts to more than 1,400 hours, will also include graffiti removal, washing cars, and cleaning and maintaining other grounds.

Wide Receiver Hank Baskett wanted to spend his time with Kendra Wilkins but NOT like this????? Baskett was cut the other day by the Philadelphia Eagles to make way for quarterback Michael Vick. WOOF!!!


Annie Le. A co-worker is listed as a "person of interest."

Yale Grad student Annie Le, who was found dead in the wall of campus lab, was strangled, confirmed the Medical Examiner. A co-worker of Le, Raymond Clark III, 24, was taken into custody by New Haven Police and was NOT named a suspect but a "person of interest." Clark worked in the basement of the lab where Le's body was found.

"The Hills" star Audrina Patridge found out that her accused stalker Zachary Loring was arrested NOT because she reported him (she asked for a restraining order against him) but by his own Mother. Loring has been accused of lurking out of Patridge's home and leaving a drawing of a woman being strangled.


Tahiti is hoping to become Hollywood's destination for films!

Hawaii is "getting a run for the money" when it comes to Hollywood films! Puerto Rico was most of the setting of "Perfect Getaway" and now Tahiti, along with French Polynesia, is making a big push to be considered as a Hollywood destination for films! Universal Studios is sending 50 journalists to Tahiti to check out the possibilities. Hollywood and the government of France are helping boost this tropical island and most of French Polynesia as film settings. Universal Studios latest film, "Couples Retreat" with Vince Vaughn was filmed mostly in Bora, Bora, another French Polynesian island.

Surely, tax incentives are the primary reason for film studios nowadays.

Country singer Kevin Patrick Skinner won the top prize on "America's Got Talent"

Kevin Patrick Skinner, a chicken farmer from Kentucky won the top prize on NBC's America's Got Talent last night. The country singer from Mayfield, Kentucky took home the grand prize of $1 million and he'll headline a show in Las Vegas.

"I've always loved to perform," Skinner said. "I want to go out there, and give 'em the best show I can."

The 35-year-old has been playing the guitar since he was 12, and was a fan favorite on "American's Got Talent" since his debut.


Burt Reynolds, 73, finishes his rehab stint in Florida

Actor Burt Reynolds, 73, left rehab this morning after a 30-day stint at the Hanley Center in Florida to treat his addiction to painkillers. He checked in last month for treatment to "gain control of his life." Reynolds had suffered a bad fall at his home in Florida and subsequent back surgery prior to his addiction.


Avril Lavigne and Deryk Whibley. The once-happy couple have split!

It has been reported that rock singer Avril Lavigne has split with husband Deryk Whibley of Sum 41 and thrown him out of their (or hers) $9.5M Bel-air mansion.


Jessica Simpson and her pooch Daisy. Daisy was "snatched" by a coyote a few days ago and Simpson is holding out hope for her safe return.

Jessica Simpson's intense search to find her missing pooch, Daisy, reported to be snatched by a coyote near her home in Encino, California, is being stepped up by hiring a Dog Finding Service! Dog Finding Service? Sheesh, never knew a service existed? Well, a small little pooch versus a coyote in "their neck of the woods," have to say Simpson has to take a "loss" on that one! Wonder what the betting odds are on Daisy surviving?


Mary Travers, of the folk band Peter, Paul, and Mary, dies.

(Perez Hilton) Mary Travers, 72, of the famous 60s trio Peter, Paul, and Mary passed away yesterday. She had leukemia.

The trio collected five Grammy Awards for hits like Leaving on a Jet Plane, Puff (The Magic Dragon), Blowin' in the Wind, If I Had a Hammer and Lemon Tree.

Travers lived out her life in Redding, Connecticut and leaves behind her husband, Ethan Robbins and daughters, Alicia and Erika.


Chris Brown. Virginia Community service is putting the "girl-beater" to work!

What is R&B singer Chris Brown doing at his community service work in Virginia with a bodyguard by his side, when Police are on hand at the work site? Sounds like "over-kill" to me?


Spiderman is coming in 2011 with the 4th installment!

The release date of Spiderman 4 has been set at May 5, 2011 and will be released in IMAX and regular theatres. The first 3 Spidey flicks have grossed $2.5B worldwide.


Eddie Izzard running for charity!

Actor/Comedian Eddie Izzard (last seen on "The Riches) did his version of "Forrest Gump" by running 1,100 miles from London, England to Scotland and back to the capital all for charity, the organization SportRelief. That's 43 marathons in 7 weeks! Talk about superfit! The comedian who usually dresses in drag for his standup routines, was followed by a BBC crew and an ice cream truck that played the "Chariots of Fire" theme song to spur on Izzard.


Katherine Jackson and her grandchildren get "bundles of money" from the King of Pop!

Tmz reports that legal documents concerning the Jackson estate show that Mama Katherine Jackson would receive an estimated $26, 804 a month and Michael Jackson's 3 children would receive $60K total (20k per child? Not bad).

Annie Le , the Yale Grad Student found murdered last week. A co-worker has been taken into custody for her murder.

Lab Technician, Raymond Clark III, 24, has been taken into custody by New Haven Police and deemed a suspect in the murder of Yale Grad Student Annie Le, who was set to marry her fiance this past Sunday. Clark was a co-worker of Le and worked in the basement of the lab where Le's body was found.

Eighteen year-old Arrested for Robbing Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge!


Surveillance cameras at Lindsay Lohan's home show thieves entering the property. Nicholas Prugo is the one identified in the baseball cap.

Nicholas Prugo, 18, who along with other suspected thieves, was arrested for the burglary of the homes of Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge. He was placed in jail yesterday morning and is believed to be involved in both break-ins. Audrina's home was burglarized in February and Lohan's home was just robbed last month. In both instances, the robbers took jewelry, handbags, and clothing.

Surveillance cameras from both homes also show the identity of a young woman. The investigation is still on-going. Bail for Prugo has been set at $20,000.

UPDATE: Rachel Lee has been identified as the young woman in the surveillance video. All it took for investigators was to check out Prugo's friends on his Facebook page. Lee matches the young woman in some of the surveillance video footage.

[(LA Times) Ryan Seacrest was stalked outside the Children's Hospital in Orange County earlier this week by someone who asked for an autograph. Ryan had just finished making an appearance, signed the autograph, and walked to his car when the alleged attacker -- Chidi Uzomah -- got in between of Seacrest and his car! When Seacrest got into his car, Uzomah tried to go inside as well.

The security guard came to Seacrest's aid and tried blocking Uzomah and then Uzomah allegedly began choking the guard and fighting him. Seacrest managed to drive away and did not see the incident.

Uzomah -- who is 25 years old, 6'4" and 200 lbs -- was subdued and arrested. Cops found a switchblade knife on him.

Uzomah will be charged by the O.C. D.A. with assault and battery and possession of a switchblade.
He is being held on $25,000 bail.

Michael Jackson, Along With Other Famous Defendants, Have to Pay Up To One Person for Allegedly Stealing a Song!

Bluesman, songwriter, and music producer, Syl Johnson, is going to get paid for a total of $150,000 for having one of his songs unlawfully reproduced by Michael Jackson and other famous defendants. The suit was filed in a Northern Illinois Federal court and Jackson, along with Dr. Dre, Wil Smith, the estate of Tupac Shakur, and 11 others that were unnamed, have to pay up!

Syl Johnson's 1967 hit "Different Strokes" is the song that was stolen by the musicians without no proper tribute AND residuals paid to Johnson. Jackson's, "Blood on the Dance Floor," Smith's "Who Stole the DJ," and Shakur's "Peep Game" all borrowed from Johnson's song.

The Jackson estate owes $12,500 upon approval of the probate court.

Former "Incredible Hulk" and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno took the advice of Michael Jackson (Ferrigno was Jackson's personal trainer) to have hip surgery so that he could perform on the new season of "Dancing With the Stars." Ferrigno claims that the people from DWTS were interested in the bodybuilder becoming a dancer on the show so he went ahead with the surgery on that premise. However, after his surgery, the DWTS "blew him off" and he was not invited to do the show.

Jessica Simpson has called off her search for her little pooch Daisy, days after a coyote snatched her dog outside her home in Encino, California. 3-D Television is coming next year!!!!

(CNN) Sony and Panasonic say they will release home 3-D television systems in 2010; Mitsubishi and JVC are reported to be working on similar products. These next-generation televisions would be able to play shows in 2-D or 3-D. They also would be able to show video games in 3-D, which Sony demonstrated at the expo in Atlanta.

The Quirky Animated Pic "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" Rules Box Office!!!!

(Ew.com) Animated pic Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs topped the movie charts with a strong $30 million debut. The movie from first-time animation directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller marks Sony Pictures Animation’s highest opening gross for its animated films. Next up for the studio is Hotel Transylvania, centering on a young monster hunter who falls in love with Dracula’s daughter.

In contrast, having Megan Fox in the starring role in Jennifer’s Body could not save the film from a glut of horror movies (Final Destination, Halloween, and Sorority Row) in theaters, grossing only $6.8 million, a tad better then last weekend’s disappointing $5 million opener of Sorority Row.


Jennifer Aniston's romantic comedy, "Love Happens," grossed a "so-so" $8.4M at the box office

The performances of the other two new wide releases The Informant! and Love Happens supported the current hypothesis floating around Hollywood, that movie stars no longer matter. Not Matt Damon nor Jennifer Aniston could do much to propel their movies into box office hits. The Informant! from director Steven Soderbergh grossed an estimated $10.5 million for a second place opening while Love Happens, co-starring Aaron Eckhart, bowed in fourth place with $8.4 million.

Last week's box-office champ Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself., in its second weekend of release grossed $10 million, finishing in 3rd place this past weekend.

(LA Times) The surprises came in the form of new and old at the 61st Primetime Emmys on Sunday as dark horses such as Toni Collette and Kristin Chenoweth beat out the favored winners while veteran actors took home nearly every other acting award. Oh, and "Family Guy" fans were indeed disappointed losing to "30 Rock" for best comedy series.

And though it was hardly a shock that AMC's "Mad Men" won for the second year in a row for drama series and "30 Rock" won for the third consecutive year for comedy series, repeat wins in drama categories by Glenn Close for lead actress for FX's "Damages" and Bryan Cranston for AMC's "Breaking Bad" were not entirely expected.

John Travolta To Testify Against Extortionists!

(Tmz) Actor John Travolta will travel to the Bahamas and take the stand this week in the trial of paramedic Tarino Lightbourne and former Senator Pleasant Bridgewater. This is the first time that Travolta will appear to talk about the death of his 16 year-old son that occurred earlier this year at their vacation home in the Bahamas.

The upcoming trial involves the pair, who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from Travolta by threatening to go public with a document that could have relieved medical responders of liability if the family refused an ambulance. The Police are bewildered why the pair believed that Travolta would pay the money to prevent the document from being released to the public.

Sources say Travolta will testify about his interaction with paramedic Lightbourne, who tried to revive Jett Travolta after he suffered a massive seizure at the family's Bahamian vacation home.

Sources indicated that once the extortion demand was allegedly made, Travolta had no direct contact with any of the alleged extortionists. But sources say prosecutors will ask Travolta about his reaction once he learned of the plot just days after his son's death. This will almost certainly be the most dramatic and emotional part of the trial which could have enormous impact.

The Emmy Awards on CBS was watched by 13.3M viewers!!!! Remarkable since the program was opposite NBC's gridiron slugfest between the Dallas Cowboys and NY Giants! Popular Host Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and the overall show had a good flow to it, nothing like the annual snoozefest. The 11% increase in viewership is the most watched Emmy telecast since 2006.


David Hasselhoff is pointing to bad mix of prescription drugs as the reason for being hospitalized!

David Hasselhoff's bout with alcohol poisoning last night landed him in the hospital. Hasselhoff has fought off the rumors as nothing but a "bad mixture of prescription medicines for an ear infection and another one to combat alcoholism." He added that he could not reach his own family doctor and called an ambulance instead because he wasn't feeling well.


Shakira's new album pushed back!

International star Shakira had her latest album pushed back a month to November while her record label tries to garner interest by releasing another single. Her single, "She Wolf" failed to make the top 10, some songs leaked on the internet, and her "America's Got Talent" lip syncing didn't help matters either (although she looked incredibly SEXY in that "barely there" outfit).

Edward's wife Elizabeth Edwards has stage 4 (cancer has spread and can potentially become larger--number does not indicate if it fatal or terminal--it is based on what treatment is needed) breast cancer.

John and Elizabeth have 3 children (Cate, 27, Emma Claire, 11, and Jack, 9). They had a 16 year-old son who died in a car crash in 1996.

HBO's Max Kellerman made sure he got the "last word" during Mayweather interview!

HBO's ringside reporter Max Kellerman did not endear himself after confronting fighter Floyd Mayweather after his victory over Juan Manuel Marquez. In his interview with Mayweather after the fight, Kellerman tried to make his point by appearing to poke fun at Mayweather for fighting a "smaller man" and then inviting an aggravated Shane Mosely (who is a "bigger man") to taunt Mayweather. Kellerman asked so many lengthy questions that an exasperated Mayweather (who wasn't allowed to finish his answers) remarked to Kellerman, "you do too much talking." After a brief struggle over the microphone, a frustrated Kellerman uttered the name "Jim" (for ringside announcer Jim Lampley) in order to cut away from the mayhem.

People magazine confirmed that Los Angeles Laker forward Lamar Odom, 29, and reality star Khloe Kardashian, 25, are engaged and going to marry on Sunday September 27, before the regular season starts, after dating for a month! Kardashian is also going to be a Stepmom to Odom's two children, Destiny 10, and Lamar Jr. 7 (from Odom's former girlfriend Liza Morales).

Ex-NY Giant Plaxico Burress Sentenced to 2 years in Prison


Plaxico Burress. His attorney called his sentencing "Tragic."

(USA Today) Ex-NY Giant Plaxico Burress was sentenced to 2 years in prison and will initially serve his jail time in Riker's Island and then transferred to the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Upstate New York. He will serve 4-6 weeks in the Riker's and Fishkill system while authorities determine where Burress will serve the bulk of his sentence.

Burress was accompanied at the hearing by his wife, son, and Father. Burress serves time for criminal possession of a weapon.

Burress attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said, "it was a tragic day for a decent man."

His sentence includes two years of supervised release. He could be eligible to leave prison after 20 months.

Burress, cut by the Giants in April, has indicated he wants to return to the NFL after his prison sentence. He will be 34 when the 2011 season starts.

First Witness Testifies in Travolta Extortion Case!


John Travolta is due to testify later today or tommorow

(Bahamas) One witness, Bahamas Police inspector Andrew Wells, testified in the Travolta extortion trial (Ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne and former state senator Pleasant Bridgewater tried to extort $25M from John Travolta by threatening to expose a document that releases medical professionals from any liability) saying that John Travolta wanted his son, who was dying at the time, to be transported to the airport instead of the Bahamian hospital.

He (Travolta) thought that the care in a Florida hospital would be better than at the local hospital in the Bahamas. He realized the length of time of the transport to Florida and had a change of heart, deciding to go ahead to the local hospital where his son Jett later died.

John Travolta is expected to testify later today or tommorow.

(Tmz) The late Anna Nicole Smith had some shady people giving her meds! In the legal documents that were released from the court hearing regarding the death of Smith, one alarmed pharmacist refused to prescribe medication for Smith issued from Psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and internist Sandeep Kapoor and even remarked at the prescription as being "pharmaceutical suicide!"

In all, three pharmacists also refused to fill prescriptions for Smith. At one point, Eroshevich asked for two sedatives, 300 tablets of methadone, a muscle relaxer, an anti-inflammatory drug and 4 bottles of a painkiller. Unbelievable!


Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have "killer" bodyguards!

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are being sued by paparazzi stemming from violence that occurred at their Costa Rican wedding. Supposedly, a photog had his arm twisted and the windshield of a "getaway" car that another photog was driving was shattered by gunfire! Photogs insisted they had clearance from the wedding party but why take pictures hiding from the bushes? Brady and Bundchen are being sued for $1M for training the bodyguards and allowing them to "discharge their weapons with intent to wound or kill!"

Oksana Grigorieva, 39, pianist/girlfriend of soon-to-be divorced Mel Gibson and Mother of a 12 year-old, said in a British TV interview that she is not expecting to be a BRIDE, although she will be giving birth soon to Gibson's child in December. Grigorieva said that she has no plans to marry anytime soon.


Dr. Conrad Murray. His girlfriend, Nicole Alvarez, will testify before a grand jury this week

(LA Times) Investigators have called Michael Jackson's personal Doctor's girlfriend to testify in front of a grand jury this week according to sources. Nicole Alvarez, 27, the girlfriend of Dr. Conrad Murray, has been called to testify and will not be the one to determine if Murray should be charged with the crime. Murray is the primary suspect and accused of injecting medicines that eventually killed Michael Jackson.

Alvarez has not been forthcoming with detectives and was investigated earlier when her apartment was searched by Police.

Network television fall season started with the 2 hour premiere of Fox TV's "House" last night brought in 16.5M viewers! House beat the competition from CBS' night of comedy and NBC's "Heroes." The Fox program beat out parts of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" but the reality-dance competition took the top spot overall with 17.5M viewers. Heroes, 2 hour premiere had a woeful 6M viewers and caused the next show, Jay Leno Show, to suffer low ratings as well.

Title of Hawaii Princess Film is Deemed "Offensive!"


Actress Q'Orianka Kilcher will portray Princess Ka'iulani in the new film, "Barbarian Princess"

(Honolulu Advertiser/by Mary Vorsino) Native Hawaiians yesterday expressed anger at the decision to call a soon-to-be-released feature film on Princess Ka'iulani's life "Barbarian Princess," and some went as far as to call the title a publicity stunt and an insult to the young royal's memory.

The 130-minute movie will make its world premiere at Hawai'i Theatre on Oct. 16 during the Hawaii International Film Festival. Interest in the film, HIFF officials say, is already high.

"Barbarian Princess," meant to be an ironic title, is what the princess was dubbed by some newspapers during her travels in the 1890s to the Mainland, where she astounded people with her grace, intelligence and beauty. The movie's producers say the title is meant to intrigue audiences, especially those outside of the Islands who wouldn't recognize her name or know her story.

"The ironic reference was done for a specific reason," said Roy Tijoe, a producer for the film and the co-owner of Island Film Group. He said concerns about the title "were coming from people who thought that we were intending a literal reference. Of course, that's not what we're doing."

But yesterday, several Native Hawaiian leaders said the title — ironic or not — is offensive.

"Because it's a painful thing, we don't care for irony," said Jon Osorio, a professor at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Kamakauokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies. "We really feel helpless to deal with producers ... who sensationalize our history in order to get to the wider audience, no matter what their intentions."

Hawai'i entertainer Palani Vaughan, a longtime critic of the project, said that the title of the movie is one of a host of concerns he has with the piece. Vaughan read the script for the film in February, and turned down the part of King Kalakaua. He said the movie distorts history and misses key facts.

Tijoe said, "our intentions are honorable here." He admits that the title is provocative and did not mean to offend anyone.

The title has piqued interest in the story of Princess Ka'iulani. Chuck Boller, Executive Director of the Hawaii International Film Festival said he is getting lots of inquiries from people interested to see the biopic.

Ric Galindez, another producer of the project and co-owner of Island Film Group, said that the film shouldn't be judged by its title.

(Tmz) Aerosmith will be performing concerts on October 18 and 20 in the Aloha State after losing a class action lawsuit back in July that was filed for cancelling a 2007 show in Maui.

According to a clause in the settlement agreement, the gigs have to be the same "quality, type and duration" as a regular kick-okole Aerosmith concert -- which includes all aspects of the show, down to the "stage, lighting and sound quality." Meaning, Aerosmith's concert better be the same quality as their "Live Bootleg" album or better or else!!!!!!

Following that clause won't be a problem -- but considering the band was forced to cancel the rest of their 2009 tour in August after Tyler fell off stage at a concert and broke his shoulder ... strange things have happened. And Hawaii won't have any excuse for that!

Brandee Faria, the lead council for the suit, tells us, "They know they can't come out and do a 30-minute gig ... because I'll be there watching." Spoken like a "true-Aerosmith fan!!!" Woah, don't mess with Brandee!!!!!!!

John Travolta Testifies in Court!

(Bahamas) John Travolta testified in front of a grand jury at the extortion trial where an ambulance driver and a former state senator are accused of demanding $25M from the actor while threatening to release a document removing liability from medical personnel to care for his 16 year-old son Jett, who was dying at the time.

Travolta described to the jury that he was awakened by the nanny at 1015am on January 2 and was told that his son Jett was unconscious in the bathroom. He came downstairs and saw Jett on the floor while one of his caretakers was doing chest compressions on him.

Travolta said he performed CPR on Jett but to no avail.

Kelly Preston was in the courtroom as her husband testified.

Actress Mackenzie Phillips Reveals She had an Incentuous Relationship With her Dad!

(AP) Former "One Day At A Time" actress Mackenzie Phillips revealed shocking details from her new book, "High On Arrival," that she was involved in an incentuous relationship with her father, John Phillips, who was a member of the 60s band the Mamas and the Papas. She claimed that her father raped her as a teenager and that the sexual relationship later became consensual.

Phillips said that they had sex the night before she was to marry in 1979 at the age of 19, according to People magazine.

She told "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in an interview that aired Wednesday that her siblings "definitely have a problem with this." Winfrey also read a statement from Genevieve Waite, John Phillips' wife at the time of the alleged abuse and Mackenzie's stepmother that said he was "incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, of having such a relationship with his own child."

Phillips, who starred on TV's "One Day at a Time," said the sexual relationship with her father lasted a decade and ended when she became pregnant and didn't know who had fathered the child. She had an abortion, which her father paid for, and "and I never let him touch me again."

Phillips first tried cocaine at the age of 11 years old. She has suffered years of drug abuse thereafter and said she has been clean for a year after pleading guilty for cocaine possession and entering rehab treatment.

She said that she forgave her father on his deathbed.

"Wild Child" Kelly Osbourne, daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne and America's Got Talent Judge Sharon Osbourne, wowed the live television audience during her Viennese waltz with dancer Louis Van Amselt. Osbourne literally "grew up" from the rebel child the public knows so well from her stint on MTV's The Osbournes and through the tabloids! Seeing her dance, one wouldn't know if it was the same girl, who suddenly has turned into a "young woman."

NCIS took in a whopping 20M viewers!!!!!

(Variety) CBS owned Tuesday night with 20M viewers watching the premiere of NCIS! Following the hit show was its spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles starring Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J which hardly dropped off with 18.3M viewers. Ending the night was "The Good Wife" with ER alum Julianne Marguiles which did well with 13.8M viewers.

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" brought in 15M viewers while Fox, "Hell's Kitchen" averaged 7M viewers.

At NBC, "The Biggest Loser" had 7.5M viewers and led into the "Jay Leno Show" which captured 6.8M viewers.

(TV Guide) After actress Mackenzie Phillips, 49, revealed shocking details from her book "High on Arrival" of being raped by her famous father, John Phillips, of the 60s group the Mamas and Papas, as a teenager and having an incentuous relationship thereafter, several Phillips family members have stepped forward to reply about the revelations.

Stepsister and former singer of the band Wilson/Phillips, Chynna Phillips, 41, said in an US Weekly interview that Mackenzie Phillips confessed to her in 1997 of the affair between her and her father. After finding out about her father's incentuous relationship with her stepsister, Phillips became depressed for 10 days. She did confirm that her stepsister and her father were doing drugs together and believes what Mackenzie Phillips is saying is true.

Stepmother Michelle Phillips believes Mackenzie Phillips is "imagining things." She added that her stepdaughter's claims have been "hurtful to the family" and "untrue!" "I said it wasn't funny and Mackenzie said, 'I guess we have different sense of humor.'"

Mackenzie has "a lot of mental illness," Michelle said, adding that she believes the actress timed the release of her book to steal thunder away from Chynna's new album. "Mackenzie is jealous of her siblings, who have accomplished a lot and did not become drug addicts."

Oprah Winfrey, is Chicago's "best-bet" to win a bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games!

(Chicago Sun Times) Oprah Winfrey will join Chicago's Olympic bid team in Denmark next week -- a final lap in the competition to win the 2016 Games, the Sun-Times has learned.

Rumors have been swirling about whether the talk-show host would be in Copenhagen for the city's final pitch for the Games, and Oprah has said she'd be there if Chicago needs her.

Well, they need her, sources say.

So in the days leading up to the Oct. 2 pitch -- followed by the International Olympic Committee's selection of a host city -- Oprah will be called on to be part ambassador, part lobbyist, sources confirm.

That means she'll be attending dinners, cocktail parties and other gatherings with the 106-member IOC delegation.

She isn't expected, however, to take the stage when first lady Michelle Obama, Mayor Daley, Chicago 2016 bid CEO Patrick Ryan and others give a last, technical bid presentation before the Olympics' governing body.

A spokesperson for Winfrey couldn't immediately be reached for comment. And Chicago 2016 wouldn't immediately confirm she's going.

However, her presence in Denmark would be instrumental in bringing the Summer Olympic games to the Windy City. She has been a huge supporter of the Olympics and she showcased many of the athletes in 2008 when they returned from Bejing. Her season premiere last week closed down Michigan Avenue for 2 1/2 days showcasing Chicago's bid for the Olympics.

Pryor's Children Were Unaware a Trust was set up for them by the late Comedian

(Entertainment Daily) Legendary comedian Richard Pryor's children were unaware that a trust was set for them by the late comedian and are suing the trustee, Robert Philpot, over allegations that the money was hidden from them. Steven and Kelsey Pryor maintain that they were unaware of the trust set up for them in 1988 and are suing Philpot, who was entrusted to look after the star's money.

The siblings uncovered the trust’s existence and are now worried Philpot “wrongfully took, concealed, or disposed of assets”, according to legal documents filed in Los Angeles County on Tuesday obtained by TMZ.

The pair is seeking to fire Philpot as trustee and recover anything he may have stolen from them.

Richard Pryor died in 2005 after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 65.

(Tmz) The Girls Gone Wild founder, Joe Francis, has been in the news a lot lately (what an understatement) and the latest concerns former Playboy Playmate of the Year Jayde Nicole slapping the GGW CEO with a $1m lawsuit for injuries suffered during a brawl at the Guys and Dolls nightclub 3 weeks ago. The brawl also involved Nicole's boyfriend, Brody Jenner, and Francis' ex-girlfriend, Abbey Wilson.

Nicole claims in her suit, "In an intoxicated and uncontrollable rage, defendant Francis, who weighs over 200 lbs, physically attacked plaintiff Nicole, approximately 115 lbs, by pulling on her hair from behind to gain maximum control over her person and then violently shoving and/or throwing her to the ground of the nightclub like a rag-doll."

Nicole claims she suffered all sorts of injuries from the fight, including a "black-eye, swollen face, bruised ribs, sore and bruised abdomen region, bruised arms and legs, ripped-out hair, and utter emotional distress and humiliation."

In response, Joe Francis released this statement:

"Jayde Nicole is an absolute and total liar. Her prior statements about the incident are not only slanderous and defamatory, but actionable.

It is so interesting that Jayde Nicole would hire the same attorney (Ron Richards) who represented the double murderer who kidnapped me from my Bel Air mansion at gunpoint in 2004, for which he is now serving 11 years.

The only thing that Jayde Nicole is famous for is having a tattoo of the word "respect" above her vagina ... for which we all know she has none of."

One last thing. . . . Francis was supposed to throw a bachelor party for Lamar Odom last night but the gig was cancelled at the last minute by Odom (he had enough sense to think that Francis was the one organizing this!) and switched to STK, where a small dinner gathering with Laker teammates and Francis, along with chaperone Rob Kardashian, took place.

Explosive Evidence from Travolta Extortion Trial!


The John Travolta trial has explosive evidence that is bad news for the defendants!

(People) A secret video of conversations between defendants paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, former state senator Pleasant Bridgewater, and Travolta's lawyer, Michael McDermott has been obtained. The video was captured by the Royal Bahamas Police who filmed the three involved in a conversation about the extortion case of which Lightbourne and Bridgewater are accused of demanding $25M from John Travolta for a form he (Travolta) signed releasing liability from medical professionals for the care of his dying son, Jett.

Excerpts from the video (at a Bahamas hotel in January of this year):

Bridgewater was listening on a speakerphone of the conversation.

Mcdermott (asks Lightbourne): ""Where the hell did you get a number of 25 million bucks?"

Lightbourne: "I was poor all my life." "You know, me and my family, were struggling all our life. I wanted to do things for charity all of my life."

McDermott (laughs): "You're a Bahamian Robin Hood, man!"

At one point, $15M is agreed upon between the two and Lightbourne questions McDermott if he can be trusted. McDermott says the money could be handed over in installments.

Lightbourne: I can't do installments?" "I want to get this behind me. I want to put this to rest. I don't want to see you anymore ... I'm thinking, how do I know if I go to the States one day the Feds don't pick me up? How do I know if I go to the States one day, it's not a hit on me?"

McDermott: "I dont operate like that."

After agreeing on a wire transfer, McDermott ends by saying. . .

McDermott: "Once you confirm, I mean, within 10 minutes, I want those damn documents ... I'll have somebody waiting for you over at your law office or something in Freeport. You give him an envelope, okay, that's got the original and the copy in it, and have a wonderful life."

Lightbourne: "Exactly." "Case closed. Case closed ... Once this is closed, its buried deeper than the Titanic."

A month after the meeting, Travolta filed complaint against Lightbourne and Bridgewater that led to the current trial. If convicted, Lightbourne and Bridgewater may be looking at 10 years or more in prison.

Travolta is due back in court at the beginning of next week.

Marfa Sheriff's will NOT report about actor Randy Quaid resisting arrest and a physical altercation between him and officers when he and his wife were arrested in Texas. However, Evi's altercation and verbal confrontation was reported. Law enforcement officials said that skipping a hotel bill was NOT the first time for Quaid and his wife. The Puerto Rican Government plans to layoff more than 16,000 public workers and they can expect huge protests after this announcement!

(AP) In Puerto Rico, the SKY has fallen!!!! It was just announced that over 16,000 public workers will be laid off to prevent the government from shutting down and sinking the island's credit! Jose Rodriguez Baez, President of the Union that represents a third of the 200,000 public workers, said that protests are planned. This latest action is an addition to the 8,000 workers that were fired this past May!

Five Washington state baristas charged customers to touch their breasts and buttocks at an espresso stand where servers wear bikinis to draw business, police said. The women were charge $80 to strip down while fixing lattes and mochas!

During a two-month investigation, detectives also saw the women lick whipped cream off each other and pose naked for pictures at the Grab-n-Go Espresso stand in Everett. Oh the horror!!!!

Bill Wheeler, owner of the franchise, says that the accusations are part of the city's attempt to create a "bikini statute."

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom Wedding A Scam?


The wedding of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian is claimed to be "FAKE" according to website Sportsbybrooks!

Sportsbybrooks claims that the wedding of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom is a SCAM because the website reveals that the ceremony and marriage are "non-binding" and was drummed up by the E! network! One of the Kardashian shows (either "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" or "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami!" ) will broadcast the ceremony. Apparently, there was a "hitch" that may have possibly delayed the wedding because Odom wanted a prenup and Kardashian wanted to "lawyer-up" as well!

However, E! said that the "fake wedding" had to take place because of deal that was worked out with both parties beforehand. The prenup details could not be worked out before the wedding, yet they went ahead with it because of the shooting schedule.

In addition, Kardashian had a deal with OK! magazine for the wedding photos for a reported $300,000!!! Odom will get zilch for the photos. Oh my!

"Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" Wins Again at the Box Office? Oh Yes!



For the second week in a row, "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" is No. 1!!!!

(EW) Yes, another win at the box office again for the CGI-animated "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs!" Without any other kids feature to compete with and good buzz from audiences, the quirky animated feature finished with $24.6M, a second week in a row atop the box office!

In a distant second was the sci-fi thriller "Surrogates" starring Bruce Willis with $15M. Not bad considering the advertising for the film did not feature Willis' image, choosing instead to display the "human-like robots" in seductive poses.

Finishing 3rd was the much-hyped remake of "Fame" with a disappointing finish at $10M. There were no stars (except for a supporting cast that included Kelsey Grammar and Megan Mullally) featured in the musical that was entirely based on nostalgia for the 80s film to fill the seats. What happened? Frequent teases of the upcoming film were being shown almost a year ago making Fame almost being promoted as a summer blockbuster but instead wound up "discarded" with a late September opening. Sony films probably knew that this musical wasn't going to be good the months before its release. In addition, the bad reviews didn't help. With a $10M opening, Fame is looking at finishing in the $25-30M range and quickly sent to DVD/Blu-ray land.


If things don't improve, "FAME" will be heading to DVD/Blu Ray shelves in less than 90 days!

A much worse opening occurred to the Sci-fi thriller, "Pandorum," which finished a miserable $4.4M. Audiences had to make a choice between the two sci-fi thrillers Surrogates and Pandorum, and guess who won that "face-off?"

"The Informant" stayed alive for its second week with a minimal drop in audience and grossed $6.9M while Tyler Perry's "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" stayed in the top five with $4.8M!

Arrest of Director Roman Polanski Brings International Outrage!


Roman Polanski, has been "haunted" by a rape he committed 30 years ago

(LA Times) The arrest of Director Roman Polanski ("Rosemary's Baby," "Chinatown," and "The Pianist") in Switzerland has become an international incident, with France and Poland demanding that the famed director be released on bail and questioning why he was taken into custody.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office wants Polanski extradited to face charges that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl 30 years ago.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner told France-Inter radio that he and Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski asked Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that Polanski be released on bail, calling his arrest a "bit sinister."

French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand was quoted in French media as saying, "In the same way that there is a generous America that we like, there is also a scary America that has just shown its face."

Swiss authorities told the Associated Press that bail has not been ruled out, but the director would have to stay in Switzerland.

Polanski's decision to attend the Zurich Film Festival was a chance for L.A. County authorities to arrest the Hollywood fugitive. In 1977, Polanski -- a household name both for his movies and for the Manson family murder of his then-wife, Sharon Tate -- was arrested at a Beverly Hills hotel and charged with raping and sodomizing a 13-year-old aspiring model. The girl told police the director had plied her with champagne and a piece of a Quaalude during a photo shoot at actor Jack Nicholson's Mulholland Drive home. He then forced himself on her as she begged him to stop.

Polanski reached a deal with prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to a count of unlawful sex with a minor and prosecutors agreed not to pursue rape, sodomy and other charges. A judge ordered Polanski to spend 42 days in state prison for pre-sentencing "diagnostic testing." Polanski served the time and was released. But on the eve of his sentencing in 1978, he boarded a plane for Europe, never to return to the U.S.

The victim, Samantha Geimer, publicly forgave Polanski and they both settled a civil suit for an unspecified amount.

The U.S. Justice Department has 60 days to file a written request for Polanski's transfer to Los Angeles. If Polanski opposes extradition, the Swiss legal process can be lengthy because multiple levels of appeals are available.

It's OFFICIAL!!! Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian are now married!

(Perez Hilton) The wedding of reality-star Khloe Kardashian and Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom took place in Bel-Air/Beverly Hills yesterday with 250 guests at the last minute event. "E!" cameras were there to record the event, of course!

Stepfather Bruce Jenner walked Khloe Kardashian down the aisle while Kim and Kourtney were close behind. The Jenner sisters Kendall and Kyle were there but noticeably absent was Brody Jenner (arch nemesis Joe Francis was there), who was promoting "The Hills" in NYC. On Odom's side, noticeably absent were his children Destiny, 11, and Lamar Jr., 7, who are in New York. Liza Morales, Odom's ex-fiancee, said "she was caught by surprise by the whole wedding and that the family are supportive of Odom's marriage." Nice way of taking the HIGH ROAD, Liza, instead of saying, "we're happy for you Lamar but you ain't letting my kids come to your wedding!"

Of the 250 guests, Sharon Osbourne, Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa, Chelsea Handler, and Ryan Seacrest were there. Seacrest is reportedly interested in producing a reality-series involving Odom and Kardashian. Oh no!

Babyface sang at the reception and the DJ played tunes all the way until 11pm.

Evi Quaid, wife of actor Randy Quaid has supposedly been getting her medicine from Michael Jackson's Doctor Conrad Murray? She's had her demerol prescriptions and other meds, including one to treat her ADHD filled by the Doctor. Now this may explain her crazy behavior! Evi was recently arrested for ditching a hotel bill and physically assaulting a Texas sheriff deputy. She has been known to "physically abuse" her husband too! Yikes!


"Paranormal Activity" has been a late-screen sensation at certain college towns!

Here's a horror film that is being shown around selected theatres (in most cases, late screenings only) around the country (near college towns) and creating a big buzz, "Paranormal Activity." Producers are asking the public to demand that the film be screened in their city. LA-based "We Are Heroes" won America's Best Dance Crew competition on MTV last night!

MTV's Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew picked a winner last night, the all-female crew "We Are Heroes" won the dance competition. We are Heroes beat out the mixed-gender group "Afroborike" for the $100,000 grandprize and became the first all-female group to win. Host Mario Lopez confirmed that ABCD will be back for a 5th season.

Travolta Trial Will "Go to the Videotape!"


John Travolta. Today, a secret videotape that is damaging to the defendants will be shown to the grand jury!

(Tmz) The John Travolta Extortion Trial was in session today and the two defendants, ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne and former state senator Pleasant Bridgewater, are in deep trouble! The grand jury will be seeing the "secret tapes" which authorities say is the "smoking gun."

The secret police video was filmed with Travolta's Lawyer, Lightbourne, and Bridgewater involved in a conversation about their (Lightbourne and Bridgewater) demand for $25M from the actor for a document releasing the medical professionals from any liability in the handling of his dying son Jett. Authorities have said the document is irrevelant but the defendants thought it was valuable enough to extort money from Travolta.

In the video, Lightbourne discusses the reason for demanding $25M from Travolta and says that he comes from a poor family. At one point, Lightbourne asks the lawyer if he (the lawyer) could be trusted in the whole affair. Bridgewater is listening in on the conversation.

Lawyers for Lightbourne and Bridgewater tried to prevent the video tapes from the jury but the judge saw it differently.

DJ AM Death Listed as "Accidental!"

(Tmz) The New York City Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for Adam Goldstein -- DJ AM--and listed as "accidental" (due to substance abuse), NOT a suicide as some have suggested.

The M.E. says the cause of death is "acute intoxication" due to the combined effects of cocaine, oxycodone, hydrocodone (Vicodin), Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl and Levamisole (a drug used to cut cocaine with).

In related news, the Goldstein family and MTV are still in talks concerning the broadcast of DJ AM's show, "Gone Too Far" that was filmed earlier this year. The show deals with DJ AM trying to help out victims of substance abuse and their families.

DJ AM was "off drugs" when he filmed the show and many have speculated on his recent use of drugs--that ultimately led to his death--due to the post-traumatic effects of a plane crash he survived last year (along with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker) and the recent breakup with a girlfriend.

In addition, Nike has announced that the shoe line created by DJ AM will be on-hold, for the time being. The special shoe line was a limited release of Nike Dunks with AM's personal logo embroidered on it. Nike is in discussion with the family concerning the merchandise.

A source close to the show says: “Given Jon’s recent antics, there was no way the show could continue to portray him as a doting Dad, not while all this other crap was going on."

(Variety) TV Ratings for Monday showed Fox's "House" to be a major winner (14.4M viewers) in the lead-off spot while its follower "Lie to Me" lost half (7.7M viewers) of the viewers. At CBS, the lead-off of "How I Met Your Mother" and "Accidentally On Purpose" garnered 8.7M and 8.1M viewers respectively. The second-half of the CBS Comedy block sky-rocketed with "Two and a Half-Men" (13.6M viewers) and "The Big Bang Theory" (13.0M viewers) with "CSI: Miami" finishing off the night with 13.5M viewers! At NBC, "Heroes," "Trauma," and "Jay Leno Show" averaged between 6-7M viewers. "Trauma" garnered 6.9M viewers which is good for a new show, despite the weak lead-in of "Heroes" (5.8M). The fascination with Heroes has worn off considerably since last year and industry experts believe that the show may be "on its last legs" if ratings don't improve.

South Bay Community Samoan-Americans Organize Relief Efforts

(Daily Breeze) Carson, California---South Bay Samoan-Americans are banding together to organize relief efforts for friends and relatives whose homes were destroyed in the tsunami that overtook Samoa and America Samoa on Tuesday.

Water, food and clothing donations for the American Samoa Relief Fund are being collected at the Samoan Congressional Christian Church of South Los Angeles in Carson, where a prayer service was held early this morning.

"What we're trying to do is not only help Samoa, but also the devastation in the Philippines and other islands," said Kennedy Mailo, financial director for the church and son of the Rev. Ioane "John" Mailo. "We're connected as the Pacific Islands."

Mailo and his family lost six relatives - "aunts, uncles and cousins," he said - who were not able to escape the wave that followed the 8.0 magnitude earthquake.

"They had no time," he said. "They were still trying to gather themselves from the earthquake, and the wave came out of nowhere. It hit the houses and the houses were pulled into the ocean."
Fishing boats on the islands were preparing to search the ocean for bodies, of which many are expected to be young children, Mailo said.

"Both my parents' villages got wiped out," he said. "It's a shock. It's overwhelming. But we've also received a lot of love."

The church has already confirmed a donation of 25 palets of water and canned goods from Trader Joe's and hopes to collect about 50 ship containers worth of goods by the end of the month.
Negotiations are still in the works to transport the donations, but Mailo said they expect to have two ocean liners at their disposal as early as Monday.

Several Samoan church leaders will also hold a benefit bingo night at the Hollywood Park Casino in Ingelwood, California on Saturday to raise relief funds.

Members of the community who need help reaching their families have converged on the Samoan Federation of America on Carson Street, which is also collecting food and water donations to help the relief effort.

"The first thing I knew was to come here," said Michelle Mataese of Long Beach. "This is just very devastating to the Samoan community because we all have family there."

With Carson boasting the largest concentration of Samoans in the United States, the church has been a center for support for the community.

"Even if we're not related to them, if they're Samoan, we take care of them," said Mickey Mailo, Kennedy Mailo's son. "We'll get through this tough time; it'll take some time."

Latest Report on the South Pacific Tsunami!

(Honolulu Advertiser) At least 141 people have been killed, according to Bloomberg News — 110 in Samoa, 24 in American Samoa and seven in Tonga. The toll is likely to rise as emergency workers search for bodies buried in the sand, Radio New Zealand told Bloomberg News, citing the nation's Disaster Management Office.

Military transports carrying medical personnel, food, water, medicines and other supplies were headed to the stricken islands.

"Right now, we're focused on bringing in the assistance for people that have been injured, and for the immediate needs of the tens of thousands of survivors down there," Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate said. "This was indeed a major disaster."

A Coast Guard C-130 plane loaded with aid and carrying FEMA officials was headed from Hawaii to American Samoa's capital of Pago Pago, where debris had been cleared from runways to allow for emergency planes to land.

CBS' Survivor: Samoa will be broadcast as planned, until further notice!

CBS' Survivor: Samoa was filmed this past summer on the main island of Upolu, so cast and crew were long gone before the tsunami hit the region. Unfortunately, Upolu was one of the hardest-hit regions of the quake-caused tsunami. So far, CBS has not issued a statement on whether the popular reality-series will be postponed in light of the current situation in Samoa.

Producers of Survivor have been involved in charitable causes in many of the countries that the show was based. For example, proceeds from the sale of clothing and artifacts from last year's Survivor: Gabon were donated to The Alliance for Children's Rights and Survivor-host Jeff Probst's Serpentine Project.

After this devastating tsunami, it is with hope that the Producers will be involved in raising funds for the displaced victims of this disaster.

Death toll expected to rise

(Yahoo News) APIA, Samoa – A massive tsunami unleashed by a powerful earthquake flattened Samoan villages and swept cars and people out to sea, killing at least 99 and leaving dozens missing Wednesday. The death toll was expected to rise.

Survivors fled the waves of water for higher ground on the South Pacific islands after the magnitude 8.0 quake struck at 6:48 a.m. local time (1:48 p.m. EDT; 1748 GMT) Tuesday. The quake was centered about 120 miles south of the islands of Samoa, which has about 180,000 people, and American Samoa, a U.S. territory of 65,000.

Four tsunami waves 15 to 20 feet (4 to 6 meters) high roared ashore on American Samoa about 15 minutes after the quake, reaching up to a mile (1.5 kilometers) inland, Mike Reynolds, superintendent of the National Park of American Samoa, was quoted as saying by a parks service spokeswoman.


Villages were devastated by 15-20 foot waves

At least 30 people were killed on American Samoa, Gov. Togiola Tulafono said, adding that the toll was expected to rise from searches by emergency crews.

"I don't think anybody is going to be spared in this disaster," said Tulafono, who was in Hawaii for a conference. He added that a member of his extended family was among the dead.

Authorities in Tonga, southwest of the Samoas, confirmed at least six dead and four missing, according to New Zealand's acting Prime Minister Bill English.

Joey Cummings of radio station 93KHJ in Pago Pago told the BBC that he and his colleagues watched from a balcony as a 15-foot tsunami wave struck, and "the air was filled with screams."

He yelled for people to run uphill, "but they just ran down the street away from the wave rather than make a sharp left and up the steep mountain just feet away."

A "river of mud" carried trees, cars, buses and boats past his building, which is practically at sea level, Cummings told the BBC.

Some people searched for trapped survivors, he said, but others looted stores. Bodies were stacked in the back of pickup trucks, he added.

Alex Godinet, chief of staff for American Samoa's congressional delegate, said his "whole house and everything was shaking." When he went to the nearby village of Leone, the tsunami wave had already struck and receded.

"People, elders were trying to crawl all over the place, crawl up to higher place, higher areas," he told NBC's "Today" show.

Indonesian Earthquake and Massive Typhoons in the Philippines and Vietnam!


JAKARTA, Indonesia – A powerful earthquake rocked western Indonesia Wednesday, trapping thousands under collapsed buildings — including two hospitals — and triggering landslides. At least 75 people were killed on Sumatra island and the death toll was expected to climb sharply.

The magnitude 7.6 quake struck at 5:15 p.m. local time (1015GMT, 6:15 a.m. EDT), just off the coast of Padang city the U.S. Geological Survey said. It was along the same fault line that spawned the massive 2004 Asian tsunami that killed more than 230,000 people in a dozen countries.

A tsunami warning for countries along the Indian Ocean was issued, and panicked residents fled to higher ground fearing giant waves. The warning was lifted about an hour later.

Initial reports received by the government said 75 people were killed, but the real number is "definitely higher than that," Vice President Jusuf Kalla told reporters in the capital, Jakarta.

Filipinos wade through muddy and unhealthy flood water brought on by Typhoon Ketsana

(AP) With an estimated 250-400 dead and a death toll count that is expected to rise, terrified Philippine flood survivors were told to pray on Wednesday as a typhoon threatened to bring more devastation following a killer storm that affected over 2.2 million people.

Four days after once-in-a-lifetime floods submerged most of Manila and neighbouring areas, claiming nearly 250 lives, Typhoon Parma lurked to the east of the Philippines and was on course to bring more storms this week.

"What we need now is to be prepared and alert," chief government forecaster Prisco Nilo told national radio in the deeply religious Roman Catholic country.

Asked if the typhoon could be as devastating as tropical storm Ketsana, which caught everyone in the Philippines by surprise with its ferocity on Saturday, Nilo said it was possible.

"At the moment it is over the sea. We should prepare and pray now just in case."

Authorities pleaded with people in low-lying areas throughout Manila, a sprawling city of 12 million people, and surrounding areas to find higher ground before the storm hit, and many were heeding the warnings.

Flooding and high winds destroyed villages in Vietnam

(NY Times) DA NANG, Vietnam — Typhoon Ketsana headed west toward Laos on Wednesday after battering central Vietnam with powerful winds and heavy rain, leaving behind blue and sunny skies but dangerously rising floodwaters. The official death toll in Vietnam was placed at 41, but officials said that number was expected to rise as more reports came in and as the floodwaters threatened further destruction.

“The rain was heavy and the wind was like crazy,” Nguyen Trong Tung, a photographer, said. “Right now the sun is beautiful, there are white clouds and the sky is blue, and the streets are already clear.”

The clear weather is deceptive and the danger has not passed, said Andrew Wells-Dang, a representative of Catholic Relief Services, who called Ketsana “the most serious typhoon that’s hit here in four or five years.”

“The casualty figures will get worse over the next days as more reports come in and also as the river levels rise from rain up in the mountains that will cause more flooding,” he said in a telephone call from the capital, Hanoi

Academy Award screenwriter, Roger Avary, is sentenced to prison for DUI charges and vehicular manslaughter!

Screen writer Roger Avary, who won an Academy Award for "Pulp Fiction," has been sentenced to 1 year in jail and 5 years probation for DUI charges and vehicular manslaughter in which a family friend, Andreas Zini, was killed in the car he (Avary) crashed. Avary settled a $4.1M settlement with Zini's family.


Rappers Ludacris and T.I.

Rappers Ludacris and T.I. are helping flood victims in Atlanta, Georgia. The Ludacris Foundation has teamed up with Home Depot and Sam's Club to help the area where flood waters have devastated nearly 500 homes and caused $61M in damages. Ludacris and T.I. have donated $10,000 each to the foundation and plan to start up a foodbank and gift card giveways as soon as Friday.

Former Wilson/Phillips band member, Chynna Phillips, is relaunching her music career. This time as a member of the Contemporary Christian Duo, Chynna and Vaughan. Her partner Vaughan Penn have released their first album, "One Reason" which is rapidly climbing up the charts.

The release of her album September 22 inexplicably coincided with the shocking news of sister Mackenzie Phillips' incest claims. Hopefully by now, Chynna Phillips can stop the tabloid questions about sister Mackenzie and instead concentrate on promoting her album.


CBS crime/drama NCIS: Los Angeles is pulling in some impressive numbers!

(Variety) CBS dominated Tuesday with its "NCIS-block" (NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles) and finishing the evening with "The Good Wife."

ABC's offerings of summer-holdover "Shark Tank," (a show about entrepreneurs who pitch their businesses to a panel of millionaires) "Dancing With the Stars," and Jerry Bruckheimer's "The Forgotten" was good enough for second place in total viewers.

Dennis Hopper hospitalized in New York!

Actor Dennis Hopper (Apocalypse Now, Hoosiers, and Easy Rider), 73, was rushed to a NY city emergency room by ambulance according to Entertainment Tonight. Hopper was wearing an oxygen mask when he was wheeled in and a source said that the actor was suffering from flu-like symptoms. Hopper's manager had no comment.


John Travolta testifies for the second week

(Bahamas) Actor John Travolta is in his second week of testimony in the extortion trial involving paramedic Tarino Lightbourne and former state senator Pleasant Bridgewater. Travolta has told a court in the Bahamas that a local paramedic threatened to sell stories to the news media suggesting the movie star was at fault in the death of his 16-year-old son.

Travolta testified that the paramedic (Lightbourne) who is now on trial for extortion demanded $25 million from the actor.


Drew Barrymore got a surprise visit during the premiere of her movie, "Whip It!"

Actress Drew Barrymore got the "shock of her life" during the premiere of her directoral-debut movie, "Whip It," when an old friend showed up---none other than friend/mentor/and ET Director Steven Spielberg! Philippines Awaits "Super Typhoon" Parma!


A weather map tracks super typhoon Parma as it heads to the Philippines, expected arrival SATURDAY!

(CNN) Days after one storm left hundreds dead and most of Manila under water, the Philippines was bracing itself Thursday for the impact of a super typhoon gathering pace in the western Pacific.

Typhoon Parma is expected to bring heavy rainfall and major property damage to the Philippines on Saturday, according to meteorologists.

The storm was upgraded to a super typhoon Thursday as it churned towards the island nation with winds of 240 kph (150 mph). The storm was about 600 miles (965 km) southeast of Manila, the Philippines' capital on Thursday afternoon.

Parma comes on the heels of Typhoon Ketsana, which left at least 246 people dead as it passed over the Philippines over the weekend. An additional 38 were still missing, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said.

Hawaii Rallies to Aid Disaster Areas In Samoa and Philippines

(Honolulu Advertiser/Gordon Y.K. Pang) Contributions continue to flow steadily from Hawai'i into relief efforts for two separate Asian and Pacific disaster areas as government agencies and nonprofit groups yesterday repeated their calls for more help.

Tropical Storm Ketsana slammed into the Philippines on Saturday, causing massive flooding and killing hundreds. Early Tuesday, an 8.0 earthquake and tsunami shook the Samoa Islands, killing at least 120 and leaving thousands homeless.

The Filipino Community Center in Waipahu began collecting donations on Monday, and the fund was up to $1,200 on Tuesday with "a lot of envelopes" streaming into the office yesterday, said Toy Arre, FilCom Center president.

An all-day telethon is being held at the FilCom Center on Sunday, coinciding with similar efforts on the Neighbor Islands, Arre said. The O'ahu event will be simulcast on KNDI-AM radio from 1 to 3 p.m.

At the O'ahu office of American Samoa's governor, staff collected a smattering of goods and monetary donations. "We have water and canned food, and rice," said office staffer Molesi Sagatolu, and they are trying to secure a flight to ship items to Pago Pago.

Coralie Matayoshi, chief executive for the American Red Cross, Hawai'i chapter, said it's hard to determine how much money is coming from Hawai'i into the two relief efforts. Some Hawai'i residents are donating online while others have been calling an 800 number.

Matayoshi said there are a significant number of people of Filipino and Samoan ethnicities who will make contributions to relief efforts in both disaster areas.

"They might be tapping a little bit different constituencies," Matayoshi said.

On top of that, she said, "the people of Hawai'i are really generous."

Indonesia Is Hit With Second Quake!


Panic is widespread as a 2nd quake hits in a matter of 48 hours!

(CNN) Another strong earthquake rocked Indonesia early Thursday as the Southeast Asian nation was reeling from an earlier jolt that killed more than 500 people and caused widespread destruction.

The 6.8 magnitude quake Thursday hit South Sumatra at 8:52 a.m. local time (9:52 p.m. Wednesday ET), about 89 miles (143 kilometers) from Bengkulu, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. The earlier quake Wednesday was 7.6 magnitude.


Homes and, in some cases, entire villages are completely destroyed!

At least 529 people were dead and more than 500 were injured, said Tugiyo Bisri, spokesman for the Indonesian Social Affairs Ministry's Crisis Center said Thursday. The worst hit was the West Sumatra capital of Padang, where 376 people perished, he said.

Officials had little information on those who were missing and feared the death toll would climb into the thousands. Rustam Pakaya, the head of the Ministry of Health's crisis center said that thousands of people may be trapped by collapsed buildings and houses.

Harrah's Hotel and Casino May Not Be a Fan of Ben Roethlisberger!

(Sportsbybrooks) Harrah's Hotel and Casino in Reno/Tahoe must think Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is BIG TIME trouble! First, former Harrah's waitress Andrea McNulty took Big Ben to court for sexual assault. A judge in the case refuses to dismiss the sexual assault case and, in addition, will allow a civil suit to be pursued by McNulty.

Second, back then Big Ben and his entourage arrived at the Harrah's Hotel with a young woman who appeared to be under 21. An assistant manager, Alvaro Brito, "carded" the woman but they refused to have her show her ID. Big Ben called Harrah's security to resolve the matter but they didn't come and Brito asked the woman again for ID and confirmed she was 27.

Later, Big Ben reported the incident to Harrah's President John Koster about Brito and he (Brito) was eventually fired. Brito filed a lawsuit against Harrah's and John Koster for improper firing despite following company policy and state law (no one under 21 is allowed in the restaurant that serves alcohol) and for Big Ben "mocking his accent and verbally abusing him" during the incident.

You think Big Ben is staying at Harrah's when he comes back for his court date? Fat chance!

David Letterman's favorite guest Madonna appeared on the CBS Late Show last night. Letterman and Madonna "broke pizza" together and she served some slices to the guests outside the Ed Sullivan theatre and near the Italian restaurant!

"Kate Plus 8" has been suspended due to a legal move by a fired and disgruntled Jon Gosselin!

Jon Gosselin, playing the villain brilliantly, is trying to bar TLC from shooting the "new" show, "Kate Plus 8" at his home! After being fired this past Monday, Gosselin has been using his legal team to stop the show from filming, using a "cease and desist order" with the reason that the program is detrimental to the welfare of the kids and the family in general.

How interesting. Once Jon is removed from the show, he declares that the show is suddenly harmful to the kids! Oh my!

TLC has temporarily suspended the show until things can be worked out between Jon and Kate.


Model Jasmine Fiore and alleged killer Ryan Jenkins

(Calgary Herald) Ryan Jenkins' Dad refuses to believe that his son murdered Jasmine Fiore and has taken the steps to hire a private investigator to look for the REAL KILLER!

Meanwhile, Buena Park (California) Police are looking into Ryan Jenkins' hard drive, which was found next to him in the motel room where he hung himself, for any possible clues to the murder of Fiore. So far, Buena Park Police say that Jenkins is the only suspect in the case.

James Franco (UCLA grad/Spiderman Films/Pineapple Express) will be joining the cast of soap "General Hospital?" Really? Not a joke. He says it is for "research purposes." Was it too much of a STRETCH for him to "research" his pot-smoking character in "Pineapple Express?" His "mystery man" role in Port Charles starts November 23.

Oh, and former "Las Vegas" star Vanessa Marcil may be re-joining the cast because of him! Meow. . .


Kate and A-Rod are reportedly looking to move together to Los Angeles!

Kate Hudson and Yankees Alex Rodriguez are looking to purchase a house together in L.A. and were spotted looking at a $9.9 million dollar home in Pacific Palisades that was described as "perfect for an expanding family." Hmmmm. . . . more kiddies, eh?



The cast of Fox's "Glee." The show has been a big hit for the network.

(Variety) ABC had impressive outings for their new comedies, "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town," considering their was a slight drop-off from the first week. However, the comedies could not stave-off the CBS crime/dramas "Criminal Minds" (13.6M viewers) and "CSI:NY" (12.9M) to help THE EYE win the night.

"Mercy," "Law and Order:SVU," and the "Jay Leno Show" helped NBC win 3rd place for the evening. Fox came in 4th win "So You Think You Can Dance" and their popular program "Glee."

Comcast to buy NBC?



Last thing, there is talk between cable giant Comcast having meetings with NBC about possibly acquiring the network. Vivendi, the entertainment corporation has been put under pressure by board members to unload their 20% stake with NBC. Vivendi has an annual option to exercise its right to sell or keep its ownership. The grace period for the option is Nov. 15 to early December. Industry experts predict that Vivendi will sell NBC by that time.


Minnesota Vikings' home field has a new name!

On Sunday, against the hated Green Bay Packers, the Minnesota Vikings' home, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome will be renamed, "The Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome thanks to a new naming rights partnership signed today! Yes, that Mall of America, home of shops, Sponge Bob Square Pants, the nation'as largest indoor amusement park, and a food court! Too bad there's no tram to take you from one place to the other!

The deal will last until 2012 and by then you can guarantee they will threaten to leave for L.A.!

(CNN/Reuters) Soon-to-be former Bank of America CEO, Ken Lewis, will NOT be needing any "stimulus package" when he retires from his company because he's getting $53M in pension benefits, plus $10M in deferred compensation, and $8M in restricted stock and options. And That's NOT ALL! His accumulated compensation, including the ones mentioned, is reported to be $125M!.

Wow! And just think, people asking me what's wrong with our banks nowadays? PRICELESS. Remember, we, the taxpayers, helped "bail-out" his company and he's laughing all the way to retirement!!!!

Afterschool --(Unrated) A film about a prep student who dispassionately films the death of a couple of classmates during an accidental drug overdose, instead of trying to save them. A disturbing film that deals with a boy who tries to cope with the guilt of letting his two classmates die. An impressive debut from Director Antonio Campos.
