1# 1989 BYU 56-14 Help get Hawaii to it first bowl game and the monkey of UH back

2# 1990 BYU 59-28 BYU was in the top 10 and and Ty had just won the Heisman

3# 1992 Illinois 27-17 First bowl win and I think first win on national TV

4# 2001 BYU 72-45 BYU was 12-0 coming in to the game

5# 1999 Fresno St. 31-24 Worse to First

6# 1988 Iowa 27-24 Was rank in the top ten at the time

7# 2004 MSU 41-38 Got UH into the Hawaii Bowl

8# 1999 Org St. 23-17 Prefect ended to a dream season

9# 1992 Fresno St 47-45 Very Exciting

10# 2001 Fresno State 38-34 When Rolo proved he could be a winner

i'd go with those 3 football games as my top 3, in the order fresno -> byu rolo -> byu detmer. maybe I'll give that miami-ohio game with rolo/roethlisberger battle an honorable mention.. it was surreal how both offenses were unstoppable in that game.

i'll throw this in. mens basketball: both last second shots to win by UH over byu (ruffin / whitlock), UH over #2 kansas: rainbow classic.

wow, 12 year old post. the recent UH's win over cal probably pushes several things down my list.

If UH could have pulled off the win against Notre Dame in 1991 that would have been the biggest win for me.

Chad Owens running crazy in national TV in win over BYU.

Pisa stopping BYU quarterback on goal line breaking his ribs.

And I don't recall which game but Ulbrich (linebacker) exhorting his teammates on the sideline late in game "Do NOT Quit!"

The wins against NFL quarterbacks are memorable. But, I forgot how much offense there was in the Ohio game.

How about the 1988 Hawaii vs Iowa game.Hekoti Fakava could not be stoped.

I was at that game. The stadium was so loud and shaking I thought it was going to crumble.

But one of my favorite games was a loss to Oklahoma.

Don't you mean Oklahoma State (1995: 24-20 loss)? The last time Hawaii played Oklahoma was in 1983, a 21-17 loss.

This reminds me of the games at Aloha Stadium where the newspaper clippings would rain down from the grandstands like a ticker tape parade. To this day, this was one of the most beautiful things I ever saw, in a packed stadium and the marchig band playing. I was a kid then and a college student later throwing toilet paper rolls and the like. The games were fun.

On occasion I was so proud of the trash swirling on the field that I hoped my trash would trip the opposing player ball carrier. Maybe in my dreams it did.

Hope some old traditions return.
