McDonald Top 20 QB at #18

Post by cabanalane »

UH fan and McDonald fan. I think #18 is a bit high.

He had awesome stats, but there were the low games.

I would say he is no doubt Top 50, but I'm not sure at #18, in the nation?

What do you guys think?

I think its a good ranking based on his early stats last year. If he is fully recovered and can become that dual threat quarterback, he's going to make Hawaii proud. I saw Martinez of Nebraska at #11 and based on what I saw of one of his later games, Cole can do better.

No forget that Cole was injured and played injured for a good portion of last season. I'm sure that affected his abilities. Hope that the injury bugaboo stays away for the most part this coming season.

MCD could have passed for 5k as that was his pace before getting dinged. This is based on potential and the reality that he has the ability and tools around him to shine. Who else in CFB passed for similar yards and TDs that's returning?

Even though McDonald had a few bad games they still kept the record. No one passed them up even after 4 bad games if I remember correctly.

This is where Rolo comes in. When the QB is having a bad hair day Rolo has the option to put in the backup QB. Hopefully McDonald excels every game but if he has a bad one I hope the backup comes in to relieve him. Rolo can return McDonald to the game anytime he wants. Sometimes watching the game from the sideline enables the QB to see more clearly what went wrong. I've seen it happen before at UH.
“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.”

If the coaches let him run the ball more, McD would be rated higher, IMO.
No mattah how critical, I support da coach, Rolo. I love what he doing wit Da WARRIORS.

They did give him the green light but I think they were very cautious because he got hurt last year.
