Coach Benson on tight end Caden Hilborn:
“He’s such a good athlete that we moved him from tackle, and we’ll play him at tight end. He’s 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, and he can run and catch the ball. He’s a good leader, but he’s quiet. He leads by example. It’s hard to get him to talk, but when he does, people are listening. He’s not afraid to either praise or get after guys if they need it.”

Nice to beat out fellow conference members for this young man's services.

Re: DT commitment
He checks some boxes with height and weight, but he's definitely lacking feet quickness and nimbleness needs for OT or DE...likely an OG, C or DT. Need to touch up on technique bc he's standing straight up on every rush.
Be humble and confident in yourself and all things you do.

Re: DT commitment
Did you see any senior year highlights? I've seen only his junior year ones. I wondered if he improved on technique.Palolo_2LA wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 2:19 pm He checks some boxes with height and weight, but he's definitely lacking feet quickness and nimbleness needs for OT or DE...likely an OG, C or DT. Re: DT commitment
Many times defensive schemes have a DE in a 2 point stance to disguise if he is dropping back or rushing. He sets mostly in a 3 point stance, but occasionally in a 2 point stance presumably because that's what he was told to do.Irse wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 2:45 pmDid you see any senior year highlights? This is his early senior season video. For a bigger guy, he looks pretty athletic to me. Check out his speed and agility at 0:27 when he recovers the fumble. Seems pretty fast and agile for a DL.

Re: DT Caden Hilborn commits
He sounds like a humble young man that can do great things for the Hawaii program with his leadership by example. And, at Hawaii he can have two beers on his 21st birthday instead of just one at USU. Make us proud Caden!

Re: DT Caden Hilborn commits
Article continues: https://www.staradvertiser.com/2019/01/ ... ball-team/The University of Hawaii football team has reloaded the trenches with a commitment from a two-way lineman from Salt Lake City, Utah.
In a decision announced on social media and confirmed by his head coach, Caden Hilborn of Highland High has accepted a scholarship offer from the Rainbow Warriors. Hilborn is expected to sign on Wednesday, the first day of the spring-semester signing period for football prospects.
“He’s been a three-year starter for us on both sides of the ball,” Highland coach Brody Benson told the Star-Advertiser. “He’s a big, physical kid. He’s almost 6-5. He played for us about 285 (pounds). He has a lot of natural ability. There are things he’s able to do on the field that are just basic instinct for the kid.”
Benson said Hilborn was used mostly as a nose tackle, although he was capable of playing all the positions in the Rams’ four-man front.
