D1 transfers Dec 2018
It's that time of the year that players opt to transfer and get a new start.
Last year we had a bunch leave. Any news on who are not returning?
I'll post some who could fill our puka's or guys wit ties to Hawaii

Re: D1 transfers Dec 2018
One and done players are difficult to bring in at most positions bc they have to learn the system. Lineman are the easiest to plug and play. I doubt Rolo is looking at many 1 and dones, bc he needs to be depth and culture, which are not helped by ppl @ UH for a year. However, a true stud may require bending the rules.
Be humble and confident in yourself and all things you do.

Everyone get "chance," but maybe just to fill a spot or on the scout team - I guess that's playing time too.
There is a place for grad transfers as they are most likely older, more mature, and I'll say "smart" too. So there is less for the coaches to worry about, and can just concentrate on football. Kind of hard sometimes to coach a guy that you not sure if he will pass his Algebra II test this Friday, and what he will be doing on Saturday nights at Waikiki..

Every time you use a scholarship on a one and done you didn't get a 4 year player. You need to make sure you got someone that can contribute. You don't build programs with a one and done. It may be a short term fix......may be.

Re: D1 transfers Dec 2018
Any one and done should be an impact player.
It really doesn't matter whether a scholarship brings in a four year player since there has to be attrition. They are allowed 80 scholarships max at any time. 25 initials are allowed every year. 5x25 is 125 if they are all four year players (plus redshirt year). So if everyone stays, they will be 45 over the limit. So on the average, if a school wants to use the 25 max to bring in new players each year, 9 guys will have to leave prematurely each year.
Edit: Sorry, its a max of 85 scholarships is the math changes to 40 over the limit if everyone stays five years and must lose 8 per year.
I count 18 seniors on scholarship next year. So we can sign only 18 next year or another 7 have to leave the program (transfer, med retirement, quit) if we want to get 25 initials.
