Does anyone recall the history of the Wyoming Paniolo Society? I tried the web and there is nothing.
Supposedly, a few local guy (from Hawaii) went to Wyoming, to work as cowboys (?). I guess enough of them to form a "Society?" Do they still exsit? Is the Wyoming Paniolo Society still providing the support for the throphy? Or has the two schools assume the financial (and other) responsibilties.

One story that seems to be passed on is that the paniolo went over to Wyoming for a rodeo and won some contests while nobody thought much of the Hawaiian cowboy.
"Nowhere else is this perhaps more evident than in the awards our paniolo have taken home. Parker Ranch’s own Ikua Purdy waltzed into the Frontier Days Celebration in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1908—dressed in vaquero-inspired chaps and a hat adorned with a lei—only to win the world steer-roping contest in a mere 56 seconds. Meanwhile, Archie Ka’au’a and Eben “Rawhide Ben” Low—who also hailed from Hawaii—placed second and sixth, respectively. And in 1999, Purdy was voted into the National Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame, ultimately going down as the first Hawaiian ever to be nominated. Today, a bronze statue of him glistens in the Waimea sunshine on the Big Island."

that should be 5.6 seconds. the maui tour company is wrong on their site.
most don't realize hawaiian cowboys were working cattle long before cattle ranches started up in the mainland.

Wyoming's tough. They scored 19 against Washington State when San Jose couldn't get one field goal and they had the lead in the second quarter. Their offensive line will open up holes for Nico Evans, who is 5'9, 211lbs. Smaller, faster version of Dayton Furuta. It's going to be a tight game. Even though its a long travel for Wyoming, they will probably feel like they're in heaven compared to Laramie.

started with the army game this year. I knew I wasn't going to wake up in time for kickoff so I just started the thread mid-week.

Oh, O.K. Just was wanting to start the Paniolo game thread. But no worries here.
But...I get to start the 2021 Paniolo game thread.

I hope all this rain doesn't affect the attendance. Warriors will need the support of the 12th man tonight.

The guys (& myself) on WyoNation are shocked that ESPN has Wyoming winning by 2.5. None of us...O.K...most of us...don't thinks Wyoming really has a chance tonight.
Re: *** Official Hawaii vs Wyoming, Game 7 Thread ***
