DC and WR coach resign! (Discuss replacements)

Post by poidog »

According to Tsai, Hynson and Suiaunoa are leaving for Oregon State. Thoughts?

Explain. Are they going to be offensive and defensive coordinators for Oregon State?

Hope it doesn't negatively affect the recent recruits. With us changing DCs seemingly every year, maybe better we get someone who is from here. Would Cal Lee come back for a few years? I know some would say Miano but I would prefer Lee. Also Morrison as a QB coach and slide Stutz to WR. Would like to get Cav as a OL (dreaming) and maybe as a 10th coach, have someone stay on the mainland to recruit like JJ wanted to do while he was here. And have him come here to help out only when there is a dead or quiet period.

Actually I wouldn't mind Ellerson as a DC. He has experience as a HC and I believe that experience (or lack thereof) at the FCS level hurt this staff.

Major loss for recruiting in Samoa with Legi leaving. We signed 5 in the last two years (Moala, Pritchard, Pavihi, Saniatoa and Sunia) due to his contacts and efforts.

Many fans wanted Legi gone. Now he's gone. Gone to a bigger program, for less responsibility and for more pay. Go figure. Only in Hawaii.

Move Stutz to WR coach and bring back Timmy home to coach QB. Hire Ellerson as DC.

What about bringing back Tony Tuioti as DC and coach the Dline.
I think he paid his dues and has a wealth of experience at the BCS Level (CAL & Michigan), NFL (Browns) and can recruit Hawaii, California, Vegas, and Samoa

Bring Timmy home to help seal the deal with Cordeiro. Crusader Brotherhood runs strong and as a highly touted Local QB who stayed home, broke all records and led his team to 3 bowl games, Timmy can mentor Chevas.

Also have Cav take over the Oline, Smith Coach the Running backs and Stutz coach the WR and be the OC

Hire former Rainbow LB Victor Santa Cruz to coach the Linebackers. Bob Wagner talks highly of Victor, who is the HC at Azusa Pacific University

I wish them the best but I’m not crying over this. Bring Timmy home! Very interested to see how they will look at for DC. Clune a possibility?

Winning or losing, we'll continue to have Assistant Coaches bolting to the mainland for higher paying positions, unless they want to be here, with family roots in Hawaii or wanting to return home to the islands.

While being a UH alumni shouldn't be a mandatory requirement, it's much easier to sell to recruits if the recruiting coach had personal experience and success playing for Hawaii as a player.

Having a mix of younger Assistant Coaches with the energy to recruit relentlessly blended with a few more experienced Coaches that have seen success in the NFL and experience in Coaching will help keep some blue chip Hawaii recruits home.

What I would like to see Rolo change for Christmas:

Promote Craig Stutzman to OC / WR Coach
Hire Timmy Chang for QB Coach
Hire Rich Miano for DC / Safeties
Replace DL Coach with Tony Tuioti
Promote John Estes to OL Coach
Shift Brian Smith to RB Coach

Surprised that no one previously talked about Alex Gerke being on the Hawaii sideline during the BYU game.
Coach Gerke has coached numerous NFL, All-American, and All-Conference players (see below). He is known for his straight forward, hard nosed mentality, and tough coaching approach. Coach Gerke has coached at the University of Utah, The University of Hawaii, Utah State University, Southern Methodist University (SMU), Weber State University, Cal Poly, and Golden West College. To sum it up, he is known as one of the best O-line coaches in football, mentored and tutored by Utah Hall of Fame coach, Ron McBride.
