Kevin Gilbride, Jr as an OC??

Post by BigWave96744 »

Kevin Gilbride, Jr. was a backup QB with Rolo in 2000.
Son of legendary NFL coach Kevin Gilbride who was the supposed rumored to be the new Hawaii head coach before norm Chow was selected.

Though never being an OC, he has extensive coaching experience at the BCS and NFL level. Plus he could always pick his father's brain and could be his shot in moving into the direction of a future head coach.
How you figgah?
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Kevin M. Gilbride is the son of former New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Bernard Gilbride. Kevin M. graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida in 1998. He played football, baseball, and basketball in high school.[3]

Gilbride enrolled in Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1998 and redshirted his freshman year. He played in BYU's spring 1999 game but transferred to the University of Hawaii. As a sophomore at Hawaii in 2000, Gilbride was a backup quarterback who played on special teams.[4] Gilbride also played on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors baseball team from 2000 to 2002 as an outfielder.[5] Gilbride graduated from Hawaii in 2003 with a degree in communications.[4]

In 2003, Gilbride enrolled at Syracuse University and worked as a video graduate assistant in 2003 then an offensive graduate assistant with the Syracuse Orange football team for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.[4] In 2006, Gilbride was slot receiver and tight end coach at Georgetown. From 2007 to 2009, Gilbride was wide receivers coach at Temple.[4]

New York Giants (2010-present)
Kevin began his career as the Giants offensive quality control coach in 2010. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Giants when they defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI by a score of 21-17.

In 2012, he was promoted to wide receivers coach.

In 2014, he was reassigned to tight ends coach.

Thought that too, but it seems the trend is toward young up and coming coaches. Son could always consult with dad, just like Mayur consults with Tomey

He needs to consult more because besides blocked kicks, our ST are pretty bad. Even you have pointed it out (punt returns). So consulting is not the same as having the experience especially with in game adjustments.

Oh well... :(

Congratulations to Kevin for moving up the ladder in the coaching profession. :D
Chicago Bears: Sources tell FootballScoop Kevin M. Gilbride is joining the Bears as tight ends coach. Gilbride coached tight ends the past few seasons for the Giants and previously coached receivers there as well (was with the Giants since 2010). Before joining the Giants’ staff Gilbride coached receivers at Temple from 2007-2010.
