Tago is gone

Post by Irse »

A top defensive prospect will not play for the University of Hawaii football team this coming season, coach Nick Rolovich confirmed to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Defensive end Jamie Tago, who was considered one of the jewels of the 2017 recruiting class, did not meet the requirements to be reinstated. Tago, who enrolled at UH in January, was suspended from participating in the past semester’s spring football practice because he violated team rules.

That's too bad. We could have used him.

Definitely not unexpected based on what I heard. Tago got his second chance and he blew it. He screwed up and got kicked out of school last year, so he went to a JC. Rolo gave him the second chance by recruiting him back this year. Unfortunately Tago didn't take advantage of the opportunity.

It's better to lose him now, then later.

Some people are just not suited for college. Too bad.

"in football we trust" played again last week. it chronicles the lives of polynesian football players, their families, teams and the unrealistic expectations they have of playing in the nfl by virtue of their physical size and abilities.

the film documents social and economic challenges players and their families confront when living in the u.s. with large families on tight budgets.

it was disturbing to see how quickly coaches rely on polynesian players to win championships, risking their health and future for a high school game. even school principals were not above taking advantage of a star player's family, having the family clean the entire stadium after football games for a reduction in tuition costs.

even more disturbing was the frequency of gang activity by polynesian players and the sad consequences.

tago has much to overcome if he expects to graduate from a college. even more if he expects to continue playing football.

That's what happens when you want to be a bully. Lost a free college education for a pair of shoes. We don't need these kinda guys in a team ascending in the MW. Next man up.
