For all the Hawaii Bowl historians. Was there ever a (JJ or Mac) year where UH had a winning season, but did not go to the Hawaii Bowl? Or that has never happened? Meaning, UH was not invited to any Bowl game even with a winning season.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think JJ's 2nd or 3rd year they got snuffed a bowl bid

Edit; I think it was 2001 when they went 9-3
According the wiki it does not show a bowl game

The Hawaii Bowl was formed after that.
Thanks for the info Irse

2001. Hawaii snubbed for a bowl game, instead gives BYU it's worst beat down in school history. BYU was ranked #8 in the nation and undefeated. They had filed a lawsuit against the BCS because they didn't get a BCS game. Hawaii closed the season out by destroying them 72-38. BYU promptly dropped their lawsuit. You can relive the entire game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i11IsdE0sPo

Hawaii 50
U Mass. 21

Rolovich: please don't open with an onside kick.

Offensive players: don't show-boat versus an FCS team. Is U Mass FCS?

Please punt the ball on 4th down.

Defensive players: wrap up your opponent. Don't JUST try to HIT them.

UMASS is an Independent FBS team. The first time they played a full FBS schedule was in 2013. They transitioned from FCS in 2011. They're a better team than their record shows, IMO. I think we'll win because they've been on the road for 10 days, and playing their 3rd on the road. They got to be worn out by now, especially from taking in the sights of Hawaii. LOL

The way the earlier games went today, it looks like if Hawaii wins they're going bowling! Go Warriors!

wow... no one even came close. Except for the point spread ~ who'dah wouldah expected a game like that???... Good Win. Even if they don't get a Bowl Invite ~ closing out the season this way give the team good momentum going into Spring Ball. I'm Optimistic.
