I was telling the guys I was watching the game with, the AF drive reminded me of that 1988 game and we needed a miracle like that game. In 1988 AF was leading 14 to 12 in the 4th quarter. The drove the length of the field using up the clock and was inside the UH 10 yard line. UH called a "crazy blitz" with everyone blitzing and leaving receivers open. I'm pretty sure it was Joaquin Barnett that blew up the QB and RB on the mesh and the ball popped into Robert Lan's hands who was blitzing from the edge. He went 91 yards with the recovery for a game winning TD. I think Whitaker escorted Lan all the way to the endzone. Final score was 19-14. The play used to be on Youtube but I can't find it now.Duster wrote:I was having visions of needing something like that Terry Whitaker hit on the AFA QB near the goal line that popped out the ball which Robert Lan snagged and ran back for a TD. Terry's spirit must have been with the Warriors on that missed AFA FG attempt.
In the end, it was attitude over altitude.

I remember that. It was the miraculous hit.
"The rise . . . of the Warriors."

I believe that you are absolutely correct on Barnett. All I seem to remember is seeing Lan suddenly running toward the AFA goal line with the ball. Yogi Berra has been proven correct over and over - the game isn't over until it's over.uhwarriors wrote:I was telling the guys I was watching the game with, the AF drive reminded me of that 1988 game and we needed a miracle like that game.
