All of these true frosh continue to play, through game 5 thus cannot redshirt already. Add to the list Ikem Okeke & Kingjames Taylor

- Jeremiah Pritchard is the 2nd string SAM behind Malachi Mageo
- Viane Moala is the 2nd string DE behind Makani Kema-Kaleiwahea
- Kingjames Taylor is the 2nd string right tackle behind RJ Hollis

RS Frosh in the 1s & 2s
- John Ursua starting SB
- Solomon Matautia 2nd string MIKE behind Jahlani Tavai
- Cameron Hayes 2nd string CB behind Jalen Rogers
- Rojesterman Faris 2nd string CB behind Jamal Mayo

Young Guns

Post by Grinch »

Tsai, in the StarAd, has a nice write up of some of the freshmen that have been contributing this year. Not sure where Okeke and Pritchard will get in as our starting linebackers are playing well, but I look forward to seeing them on the field. Watch um on kick-off coverage - animals out there.

Tsai: "Lempa said three freshman contributors — safety Keala Santiago and linebackers Ikem Okeke and Jeremiah Pritchard — will have expanded roles.

“Okeke is doing a nice job on special teams,” Lempa said. “He belongs on the field. We need to get him on the field.”

I missed seeing Wilson and Look in the game. Were they on ST or playing on D?

Look and Wilson were on ST. I think Wilson was on defense for a couple of snaps too.

2016 Freshmen In Action

Post by uhwarriors »

By my count, 21 RS/FR or True FR played in 2016 and gained valuable experience. Most played on special teams, but a number got into the rotation, especially on defense. It's going to be interesting to see them in the coming years.

RS/FR
Samielua Akoteu
Ro Farris
Dayton Furuta
Cameron Hayes
J.R. Hensley
Sione Kauhi
Solomon Matautia
Ben Scruton
Alex Trifonovitch
John Ursua
Manly Williams

FR
Kalen Hicks
Laakea Look
Viane Moala
Ikem Okeke
Kaimana Padello
Jeremiah Pritchard
Keala Santiago
Kala Timoteo
Davine Tullis
Zach Wilson

I think they're going to be the core of some really good teams.

I agree. Things are looking good. Now we just need to find more.
Not doubting, not hating, not loving, just hoping because I am a fan.
