That October 1-15 stretch is HUGE. Must go 3-0 in that stretch or things might get ugly. I really wish these brutal OOC schedules would stop.

That opening part of the schedule again is brutal! I just hope we can make to conference play without any major injuries.

My super early predictions:
*Cal - L
@Mich - L
UT-M - W
@Ari - L
Nev - W
@SJST - W
UNLV - W
@AF - L
NM - W
@SDST - L
BSU - L
@FSU - W
UMass - W

7-6, Hawaii Bowl bid!
Of course this would be best case scenario but like Jrod said, that 3 gm stretch after Arizona will determine the season.

At least no conference back to back road games.

the Bye between the Arizona Road game & home game against Nevada is valueable.

If the Cal game wasnt a week earlier than normal, there would have been no bye

Interesting Story Lines:
- vs Michigan, Coach Tony Tuioti sees his old team
- vs Nevada, Rolo's 1st MWC game & it's against his former employer.
- vs Boise St, Hawaii goes up against their 1+ month coach Zac Hill
- vs UMass, Rolo face the team he left after 1+ month to coach at Nevada

@Fresno State - First time in YEARS that both teams in this rivalry might have a pulse at the same time.
@Arizona - Haven't played the Wildcats since Dick Tomey and co. won vs. FVA.
Tennessee-Martin - I don't think expectations are too high, but no lie...fans are hoping for an old school whuppin' in the home opener.

Definitely hurray for a bye week after that brutal opening!!! Lick wounds and go 2-1 in the next 3 games (Nev, @SJSt, UNLV) to even think about going bowling. GO BOWS!

Brutal early part of the schedule. But we need the kala. After the Chow/Jay years, UH athletics is dirt poor.

This schedule reminds of last years brutal early season grind on the road against highly ranked BCS teams. The only game I think Hawaii might be able to steal a win is against Cal in that very first game of the season (Just like last year when Hawaii beat Colorado). That's because usually those BCS schools teams don't play well the first game of the season and that's when a non-BCS team can pull off a early season upset. But by time the Michigan and Arizona games are played in the 2nd and 4th game of the season, I expect it to be ugly beat blowouts losses for Hawaii on the road. I can see a 1-3 start off to the next season with the only win against Tennessee-Martin at Aloha Stadium.

I am hoping Rolo can turn this thing around and I don't expect Hawaii to make a bowl game this being Rolo first season as Head Coach.

Speaking of Chow Time....

www.footballscoop.com

Norm Chow: This morning we had a note that Norm Chow was planning to join the staff at Van Nuys HS (CA) as offensive coordinator; but am told this evening that this is not finalized and very well might not happen. Will update when plans are certain.

Funny how the two former UH HC are now high school assistant coaches
