Athletics director Ben Jay is reportedly resigning soon, reportedly because of a failure to slow down the department's deficit problems.
I guess the article is a bit dated.

Sorry guys... someone provided me with this link yesterday, and in my exhuberance, I failed to see the date. I believe this was turned down by the legislature, already.

Been there, done that re. posting not so new news. My recollection is that they got a "no".

Break even university athletic departments are quite rare and especially unrealistic for a mid major, IMHO. Yet, that seems to be what the academics and BOR are requiring.

Too late to stop the rail. Would cost too much to take what was built down and we would have to return the Federal funding we already accepted and spent.

Bley-Vroman is showing his naivety. Talk about the blind leading the blind.

From east Kapolei to Kahi Mohala? How you going get the buses up and down? There's no ramps yet.

And are you willing to return all the federal funding already accepted?

That half of one percent for the rail hasn't put any burden on my finances that wasn't already there. I don't feel the pinch at all.

The C&C has to whatever it takes to get the project completed on time and as designed. The alternative would be having to pay back something like $1.55 Billion in Federal funding. Forget about killing the project or changing to at-grade, underground, bus lanes, toll roads, etc. Those are not an option at this point. Anyone suggesting such does not have a clear understanding of the situation.
