UH to hire 2 interns, who would you like seen hired?

Post by BigWave96744 »

The Warriors are seeking to hire two interns. Lance Samuseva was promoted from intern to assistant coach. Donovan Raiola, who has drawn praise for his help with the offensive line, is not expected to return as intern.
Interns are a great foot into the door of D1 college coaching.
Many times interns are former NFL players or guys who coached extensively at the High School, or lower division colleges.

Who would you like seen brought on staff?
Throwing out some names of guys who are either coaching or running clinics/camps, recently played pro ball, etc (still in the game)..
Timmy Chang
Inoke Funaki
Jason Gesser
Darnell Arceneaux

Craig Stutzmann
Ryan Grice-Mullin

Maa Tanuvasa
Rod York
Maake Kemoeatu

Spencer Smith
Richard Torres

Colt Brennan. Underrated x's and o's guy. His talent was enormous, but he picked up the R&S quicker than any other UH QB.

Was thinking of Colt but he's been out the game for a while.
Who knows, maybe an intern can move him in the right direction of his next chapter in life

Rather have Chang over Colt.

wouldn't an intern position be a step down for Chang, being that he's been coaching for a bit?

Either way, when Amemiya hires June Jones, Chang will be on the staff I'm sure...

I dunno man... Saw Colt around town a couple times recently and he does not strike me as someone who should be in a leadership role right now.

That's a neat video of Shawn. I always liked his play at UH and remember him being "The Human Shield". Forgot that he had such great plays for the Warriors. But the ad on the bottom of the video for meeting older Russian women was kind of off-putting. :D

Ugh...I hope not. There are many UH alums qualified and capable of leading this program, and a few GREAT possibilities. JJ? You can only go to that well so many times before it runs dry. His last 1-2 years at SMU were nasty. He left them in very bad shape. Plus the R&S as a system in college football has been found out. Nobody is winning with that offense anymore.

I'll remain firmly biased on the Ken Niumatalolo bandwagon 8) (and no, if hired...I do not think he would run the option at UH)

Also...again, there are several other options.

Spencer Smith; that would be an interesting option. He always struck me as the kind of guy who could make a good coach; tough self-made player who had to work his butt off to compete and competed well.
