Re: New DC
I would be ok with Rich Ellerson. He is a good D coach and his system whould fit what UH did last year.
However, the guy I would want would be Kim McCloud. No idea if he would give up his current DC job to come to UH, but he is a proven young coach that would bring alot of energy.
Another name just for fun would be Travis LaBoy. Maybe he could be like a Jeff Ulbrich, and not need much coaching expierence before being named DC. Jeff was only in coaching for 3 years I believe before being names DC. Laboy was a great player and he seemed to have the energy to be a coach.

Re: New DC
On another note, my vote for our new DB coach would be Abe Elimimian. He played for UH and has been a GA at SMU and WST. He just finshed his 1st year as DC for Simon Fraser University which I believe is DII. I believe he was also the DC for Crenshaw High School for a few years.
Re: New DC
Or we could call this guy. He was Ellerson's co-defensive coordinator at Army.

Re: New DC
I don't know why someone would give up a job for the uncertainty that is UH football. I suggested Ellerson because I don't believe he's coaching anywhere.

$160k-200k for one season in Hawaii? Even under the most lame of lame duck statuses, that is still a lot of cheese.

One year of DC at an FBS school will still look good on anyone's resume.

Chow seems to be the vindictive type. I don't have a good feeling Chow would take Jones back.hawaiian wrote:If Daronte' Jones is interested, I would call him first! Quickly, before the ink dries (in Wisconsin).
Offer the max deal to him (for the position)...hope it's at least 250K with incentives for 3 years!
Defensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach Daronte' Jones...sounds good to me!
Let him find his own DB coach too!
