I felt the seach committee should have given the chancelor at least 3 to choose from.
Throw in Blangiardi for good measure.

McNamara was almost a finalist. It's funny how McNamara didn't get a single vote in this poll. Even Abercrombie got one. Moniz-Kahoohanohano got two!

At a time when being Hawaii centric is a big plus for the AD position, Amemiya and Matlin are both major step ups from Jay. Most know about Amemiya's accomplishments, business acumen and connections. Much less is known about Matlin.

From a Hawaii centric perspective, he is a very good choice. He's worked in the UH athletic department early in his career and elevated himself into a prominent role in the State's athletic scene being the executive director of the Hawaii Bowl and Diamond Head Classic. As an example of his Hawaii connections check out who is on the Hawaii Bowl executive committee. Through the Hawaii Bowl and Diamond Head Classic, Matlin also a lot of mainland connections with many major conference commissioners, ADs and coaches as well as ESPN.

I was trying to listen to him on ESPN 1420 but the sound was so bad it was hard to hear. I think Matlin said that it won't be official until the 27th and that he had some loose ends to tie up with his old job.

Can watch the conference here http://khon2.com/2015/03/25/david-matli ... -director/

Also VA said that Matlin will start working immediately, but won't start getting paid till the 27th of April. He will be relied upon deciding who should be the new BB Coach.

So Matlin will be JD2? Would not be surprised if Amemia becomes new ED of Hawaii Bowl. Should of just kept JD.

If it wasn't for the Wonder Blunder probably would have still had him.

pretty much. the only reason he's gone is because he was in charge when a huge amount of money was given away. kinda hard to overlook that one, though.
