I hear that Blangiardi would take it in a heartbeat...

But if true, I'd back Blangiardi.

A few friends and my father told me it potentially may be someone with a lot of political pull.. That's all I know

It's going to be hard to get him to leave, but $$$$$ talks? Maybe.
What money?
That's for the leaders to decide. This post is about a good AD. Looking at what he has done in University of Arizona, I would go after him.
It doesn't matter what he has done for Arizona... I think Ben Jay had similar vision. It's all about how to overcome the obstacle that has been blocking all the previous AD. And I'm talking about the UH Leadership and State politics.

According to Stephan Tsai, Keith Amemiya is the clubhouse leader in the AD search:

Amemiya applied a long time ago. He’s the clubhouse leader, followed by Rick Blangiardi and then Mufi Hannemann. JJ did not apply.

I don't trust anything Tsai writes. He has the least credibility of all sports writers in Hawaii.

Didn't apply.

I like JJ as our coach and would welcome him back as our coach.

was at the baseball fundraiser sunday and my friend said BJ spoke on stage. what is his capacity? why even show face if you're not here for long? she wasn't very happy about it and I probably would've had to bite my tongue if I heard him too.

He still is the "AD" technically until June or whenever UH hires his replacement. Basically Jay is in a figurehead position. He is the public face of the UH athletic department but he has no real power as far as I know.

Since his name is on the poll: Dick Tomey was just hired as associate AD (overseeing football) at South Florida:

If Amemiya gets the job, I think June Jones will be the next head football coach.

So sad there are still people who think JJ will be coach again here some day. I hope it doesn't happen. He bailed on us only 7 years ago and he does the same to SMU...do we really want that coaching/teaching our kids? I don't, and I hope the fathers of this generation won't allow it happen!

If you spent any amount of time with JJ and talk to former players and staff of his you would know he's a good man beyond football. Sure he can come off as arrogant, hard-headed and standoffish, but not everyone is perfect. If you still got a grudge with him 7 years after he left Hawaii, then I think you got abandonment issues.
