Hawaii Bowl ranked #38 out of 38 bowl games
38. Hawaii Bowl (Dec. 24, Honolulu):
Fresno State vs. Rice
Boy is this an underwhelming game. The Bulldogs squeaked into their conference title game (and bowl eligibility) because the rest of the division was awful and Rice lost its final game of the season 76-31. Advantage Fresno State because it’s in a better league, but this game might be unwatchable.

I enjoyed going to the Hawaii Bowl when UH was is in the game....hard to sell locals on a game with teams they have no connection to, so they need to find inventive ways to prompt ppl to attend. They could have a high school all atar game or Hawaii all stars vs another states all stars before the bowl game or cheap family packages? After-all, some extra kala and a filled stadium is better than empty seats.
Be humble and confident in yourself and all things you do.

I went to two Hawaii Bowls where UH didn't play in the game. I was younger then and had more fighting spirit. Now... I don't think I have it in me to go watch this unattractive matchup.

tickets are $7.50 on groupon if that is any incentive

I would say buy a bunch to help keep the Hawaii Bowl alive...but at this rate with no announcement about firing Chow, UH doesn't have a chance to go to a bowl game in the near future anyway...QbreakN wrote:tickets are $7.50 on groupon if that is any incentive

Only the UDub game had a higher attendance figure than that this year at Aloha Stadium. That's embarrassing.CoconutKid wrote:Last year's attendance was 29,000. Yeah..... right. Embarassing.

Hard to scrap up a quality match-up when there's 38 fr'ck'n Bowl game.
And like UH, the Hawaii Bowl is handcuffed by our isolation - the most isolated populated land mass in the world.
No matter what direction you're sailing in or flying in from - it's thousands of miles to Hawaii.
While Hawaii is a travel destination, it's not for NCAA football.
In many parts of the mainland, there are plenty of games to be had that you can hop in your car and get to.
I just booked 3 RTs to Tampa, FL. It bankrupt me at $5,500.
What's the number of players for a road squad? That adds up.

Re: Hawaii Bowl ranked #38 out of 38 bowl games
You know how we get picked #38? Some person committee looks at a list of all the bowl games and starts picking off the top games. One, two, three, .... nine, ten, ... at about this point, it all the best remaining games start to look alike. So they look for the opposite end and pick out the worse. This one. Fresno vs. Rice. That's the last place game.

I would go for $7.50 by myself if I lived next to the stadium and I could walk over there for an hour or two.travo66 wrote:I would say buy a bunch to help keep the Hawaii Bowl alive...but at this rate with no announcement about firing Chow, UH doesn't have a chance to go to a bowl game in the near future anyway...QbreakN wrote:tickets are $7.50 on groupon if that is any incentive
But my family and friends would not be interested on Christmas eve. So I am going to have to respectfully pass and watch it on TV.

I'll probably not even watch it on TV.
