And that folks, is a coach with two successful runs as a head coach at FBS programs, including San Diego State. Head coaching experience helps, but does not guarantee success, especially at a school that expects better.

Damn, he came in the same year as Norm Chow and Charlie Weiss..... Hawaii and Kansas could have only dreamed for this kind of turnaround

McElwain is 22-16 in his three seasons at Colorado State after leaving Alabama as an assistant coach.
