Re: Jay Chow meeting today
Knowing how an University works, if an action is taken, 20 people got to touch that piece of paper. Some low level (low paying) guy would have leak that info out, if Chow was fired. Everyone got a camera phone, right?
Chow is back.
Chow is back.

I think Chow will stay...lack of clarity, forward thinking and responsibility hobbles UH at all levels.cabanalane wrote:Knowing how an University works, if an action is taken, 20 people got to touch that piece of paper. I believe that was George Ornellas from St Louis School.cabanalane wrote:This is off topic, but it just reminded me of this question.madeinhawaii wrote: They were all Von Appen guys when JJ took over, too.
When Von Appen first took over. He had a "freshman" RB. A local guy. He was pretty good. Made a great transition from HS football to UH.
He got into a dispute with Fred Von Ap. And was off the team. He never signed on with another school. I want to say his last name starts with a "C."
Questions:
1. What was his name?
2. IIRC, there were reports that Von Ap did not handle local players that well. And the local players didn't like him too.
Therefore, failed.

Doubt it was "The Great" G. Ornellas...he couldn't hack it in the classroom.My3Cats wrote:I believe that was George Ornellas from St Louis School.cabanalane wrote:This is off topic, but it just reminded me of this question.madeinhawaii wrote: They were all Von Appen guys when JJ took over, too.

Hmm. If my recollection is correct, Mack was sacked at the awards banquet. If NC is around after the 12/7 awards luau, I think he is returning for this 4th year. Any further delay will hamper recruiting efforts before NLI signing day.

Need to keep our finger crossed and hope 9 wins in 3 seasons is clearly unacceptable and the limited prospects for changes/improvement are not present under NC.Duster wrote:Hmm. Re: Jay Chow meeting today
+1 If Chow is not gone, and is back for his 4th year, then he needs to hire a real OC and let him call the plays, and we need to get a real QB and WR coach, these 2 young guys we got just ain't cutting it.BigWave96744 wrote:Something has to change.
If he's staying then is a seasoned OC coming? Something has to be reported if he stays, if not Jay is in deep kimchee

Mack had his meeting with Hinshaw and Donovan after the banquet and the announcement was made the next day.Duster wrote:Hmm. If my recollection is correct, Mack was sacked at the awards banquet. I don't care who the coach is but I do care the team is losing. Changes need to be made. Good luck UH (upper campus). You'll need it.

I think so. Thanks. Looking at his stats at UH. He average 11yrds per carry. Only played 4 games.My3Cats wrote:I believe that was George Ornellas from St Louis School.

Hate to say it but give Chow one more year. There are some outstanding players coming in from redshirt, mission and QB Wittek. Returning players have a lot of potential too.

yep... and most take two to three years to develop... Chow will be 71-2. With good players in the fold, it really might be the best time for a new coach.amela wrote:Hate to say it but give Chow one more year. Bob Wagner is doing pretty good this season. The Seahawks look like they are ready to make their run at the NFC West's top seed!Scott wrote:ROFL, I didn't figure this one out until i clicked on link. Robert Wagner... I thought after acting he'd go and retire peacefully. 84 and going strong it seems.poidog wrote:Bob Wagner is doing pretty good this season.
