At what point should Graham be given the keys

Post by Optimus »

I was all for Graham since the spring. But his surgery and recovery time cause much missed time.
I supported Woolsey 100% but after 2 full home games against PAC12 foes and a half game against FCS UNI and a half game against Colorado, I think it's time for a change.

The last game he was 9-20 for 56 yards in the first half. That's really bad for D1 standards, unless you are Army, Navy, Georgia Tech or Kapolei High.

Just like June benched Rolo in 2000, it time for a fresh start for this team
Since Woolsey has already been named the starter, I say 3 possessions or end of thr 1st Qtr.
If we can't get a TD, bring in Graham.
We can't be a FG only team and expect to win games.

If Ikaika cannot connect on more than 60% in the first half AND he isn't sacked or rushed out of the pocket too frequently, then ... but if there is no pass protection, run it up the middle.

i'm hoping the warriors will lead at halftime and ikaika stays in the game.

if there is no significant improvement on offense, and trailing by two touchdowns at halftime: i expect to see a reliever start in the third quarter. and possibly another reliever in the fourth to round out game experience for both relievers. i say after the half, to give the relievers more time to work with the centers and get in sync during the break.

the defense kept all three losses winnable if the offense showed up.

it's time for the offense to arrive at the game. time for the balls to be catchable, time for receivers to make the catch, time for o line to execute and hold their blocks, time for the backs to run through the second level.

If it came to pulling Ikaika i would give Beau a shot first. Already seen a bit of Graham. I just want to see if Beau can get rid of the as quickly as he does in his video. I think this is one the problems with our qbs that are playing right now. Sometimes the throw is so late after our receivers make their breaks they end up being blanketed by the db when the ball gets there.

According to ESPN, after today, Ikaika is rated 126 out of 129 D1 QBs with a rating of 22.1

Okay.. final word.
Graham should be given the keys immediately so that he can drive Chow to the nearest Airport and send him on his way, somewhere else besides Hawaii.

I kinda agree. When you see your qb take the kind of hard hits that Ikaika was taking it would be a good idea to give him a break. Chow did this with Sean in his first year and we ended up with a qb who played with a concussion. Qbs who get hit usually end up holding on to the ball a lot longer. This is why I like when our defense goes after qbs early in the game. Our qb is playing like that right now.

I was really disappointed in our blocking this game. Need to find a back who can block. The tightened was supposed to help our running game. I don't see it happening. We have taken a huge step backward. We had a bye week to fix things. What happened?

The Rice game was the last chance to see what he could do before the conference season started. Taylor needs a real opportunity from the start of a game, and not one where UH has a deficit or has already dug itself into a hole and is looking for a savior. Taylor knows it's his last hurrah - sometimes the light goes on when a person's back is against the wall. Rolo was a prime example.

Obviously, the offense has had no rhythm now for 5 games. How someone looks in practice (IW has reportedly looked good) may not necessarily translate to games because they are protected by a red jersey. With nothing to lose, Taylor may provide the spark. Save the QB development of IW for the offseason. The season is now, not next year.

Someone on the other blog mentioned that BC said that they are considering a change at qb for the next game. I think they need to evaluate the other positions too. You know people are just waiting for an opportunity. I like how Benny came in and made some big plays. Maybe there are others who can contribute too.
