spring training: day one

Post by st808 »

rainy weather made for slippery ground, balls, and hands. biggest story of the day was the appearance of max wittek, on his second visit to hawaii, taking reps and completing 5 for 5. accuracy, quick delivery, ball speed all of what you'd expect from a quality recruit. favorite target: loof lipra, an austalian rules footballer, and close buddy of scott harding. lipra clocked a sub 4.0 40, the guy can run. consistently gassing secondary, with gaps of 5 yards on all his catches.

looking forward to thursday's practice.

Yup, Loof Lipra is the real deal. Can play more positions than Scott Harding, including QB.
His dad was an LDS Missionary to Australia, after playing under Norm and with Kurt Gouveia on the 1984 Undefeated BYU team.
I met him on the North Shore when he was surfing with some of his Aussie Blokes during the January Massive Swell.

Mahalo for the heads up on Max Wittek, when I saw him I thought he was one of the unknown walkons and was wondering why he had a shirt saying "SC Sucks". Couldn't see he face behind the Face Mask Shield

He's allowed to participate in spring practices like that even though he hasn't made a decision yet?

Probably April Fool's joke. Twitter says that Wittek was visiting Texas yesterday with his family.

it's the jet age.

chow gave wittek jersey number "00" as he likes to throw from the shotgun and has a cannon for an arm. lipra was wearing jersey number 37 to match his 3.7 40 time.

you can watch the u.h. video of today's practice at:

I really do believe Wittek is the difference between UH surprising a few teams this fall, or ending up with a similar record to the past few seasons.

Did you spell his last name correctly? It's not Lirpa?
