This is not unusual. A football assistant is basically a have gun will travel as you build your career.

Many young assistants change schools every two years as they build their resume and network of head coaches and other assistants. That's how you climb the ladder. You learn as much as you can from head coaches, you learn as much offensive and defensive schemes and systems as you can to build your personal approach to being a head coach.

The other factors that puts Hawaii at a disadvantage is the cost of living especially if you have a family. Coaching in Hawaii is very hard on assistants with families; housing, cost of living, schools. They do pay more at other schools and the pay goes further. And you can only learn so much as a position coach and it is time to move on.

As a recruiter you also want to develop different geographies to recruit from.
And you really can't do that from Hawaii.

He got married last summer. I wonder if that played into his move.
