Max Staver becomes sixth Florida Gators transfer
by Phillip Heilman
Florida coach Will Muschamp announced via the school’s website early Thursday that five players plan to transfer from the program. Late Thursday afternoon, quarterback Max Staver became the sixth player to leave. Staver, who Rivals.com rated as a three-star prospect coming out of high school in Brentwood, Tenn., cited a coming philosophical change on offense as the rationale for his choice to transfer.

BUT....
“I’m looking more at the Big 12, the Pac-12, the Mountain West,” he said. “Those are more ‘quarterback’ conferences.”

Staver will have three seasons of eligibility remaining following his 2014 season.

Report: LSU backup QB Stephen Rivers will transfer
Posted by Chris Huston on February 19, 2014, 10:42 PM EST

The father of LSU backup quarterback Stephen Rivers told the Baton Rouge Advocate on Wednesday that his son has decided to transfer from the Tigers’ program.

The rising junior was slated to compete for the starting quarterback spot this spring, but he appears to be the odd man out of a five-man competition that will reportedly place a heavy focus on mobility and the read option. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound Rivers is a traditional drop-back passer.

LSU has given Rivers the clearance to transfer anywhere he likes. He’ll be eligible to compete right away since he’ll graduate in May.

Kicker James Hairston to transfer from LSU
The Associated PressMarch 7, 2014

BATON ROUGE, LA. — LSU kicker James Hairston plans to transfer after his scheduled graduation in May and is expected to kick next season for another school.

Hairston says he appreciated the opportunity to be part of LSU's "fabulous program for three years," and that he intends to pursue a master's elsewhere and hopes to kick field goals.

Under NCAA rules, players can transfer and play immediately after they graduate.

Hairston arrived at LSU hoping to handle both kickoffs and field goals. He handled all kickoffs the past two seasons and most of them in 2011. But he was unable to beat out Colby Delahoussaye for field goal duty in 2013, or Drew Alleman the two seasons before that.

Duke quarterback Brandon Connette will transfer to be closer to his mother in California, who is battling cancer, coach David Cutcliffe announced Thursday.

Connette's mother, Nancy, was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. The Blue Devils have fulfilled Connette's request to provide permission to schools close to his home of Corona, Calif.

He will have immediate eligibility at his new school because he graduated with a degree in economics from Duke in December.
