BATON ROUGE, LA. — LSU kicker James Hairston plans to transfer after his scheduled graduation in May and is expected to kick next season for another school.
Hairston says he appreciated the opportunity to be part of LSU's "fabulous program for three years," and that he intends to pursue a master's elsewhere and hopes to kick field goals.
Under NCAA rules, players can transfer and play immediately after they graduate.
Hairston arrived at LSU hoping to handle both kickoffs and field goals. He handled all kickoffs the past two seasons and most of them in 2011. But he was unable to beat out Colby Delahoussaye for field goal duty in 2013, or Drew Alleman the two seasons before that.
