I remember Johnathan Mapu from Kahuku played at Tennessee and had success !!! Wishing you the same !!! Good Luck Colton and I hope everything works out for you !!!
I agree Hawaii fans are fair weather fans !!!! As you can see when Colt Brennan played compared to Moniz .... Where was everybody ??? Winning brings the fans and I know I was one of them when Colt was playing and winning !!!! Hahahahaha

Thanks BigWave thats horrible if the rumor is true, hopefully it doesnt happen to Goeas or maybe itll work out that UH might pick him up if that does happen. Just wish him the best.BigWave96744 wrote:http://outermonvolia.net/board/showthre ... o-decommithawaiiBoy808 wrote:2 years around this time, STL DE Juda parker committed to Tennesee then decommitted or lost his scholorship I dont really know what happened but lets hope this doesnt happen to Colton.

It's not a rumor. That's what happened. One of the biggest reasons you see early verbal commitments and then de-commitments. You don't want to end up being Andrew Manley.hawaiiBoy808 wrote:Thanks BigWave thats horrible if the rumor is true, hopefully it doesnt happen to Goeas or maybe itll work out that UH might pick him up if that does happen. Wonder what happens now that Dooley has been fired
Re: Colton Goeas commits to Tennessee
If an offer has been made and accepted, usually programs, no matter what, will honor the agreement. However there isn't anything in writing that says a new coach needs to honor the previous coach's offers but it's usually pretty poor form. A new coach can certainly tell a recruit things that will make the recruit not want to attend the school (lack of playing time, no guarantee the scholarship will be continued after one year, etc.). I think Goeas is talented enough that even if the new Tennessee coach doesn't want to honor the scholarship, he can find a new place to play. It's unfortunate that he found a good fit at Tennessee and now has to restart the process again, but perhaps his new choice is an even better fit. Good luck to him

Honestly, if a kid has the opportunity to play on the mainland, he should. Yes it would be nice to keep em here and bolster our team, but no one can disagree when I say there is much more opportunity on the mainland. Good for him and I truly hope he does well.

Would Manti Teo be a Heisman candidate this year if he took the UH warriors undefeated? I think not.
Would Mariota be where he is at if He stayed in Hawaii? I think not.

Re: Colton Goeas
Tennessee fired coach fulmer and he won a national championship. Tennessee football is the #1 sports team in the state of Tennessee. Not the titans.J-Rod wrote:Tennessee is an SEC program that takes football far more seriously than UH. Now that the divide between the BCS conferences and the formerly known as "non-AQs" is even bigger, why would he join UH? Play Utah State and San Jose State annually, or take on Alabama and Georgia on the big stage? Would you rather have this turn out for your major rival, or this turn out? Good for him, being realistic....he made a great choice. Tennessee > Hawaii
So you would be right, they take Vols football very seriously in Knoxville.

Re: Colton Goeas decommits from Tennessee, going to Kansas
Now that Charlie Weis is gone, I wonder if Colton comes home to play for the home team and DC Clune and LB Coach Gouveia?
He redshirted last year and this year has yet to have any playing time.

A roundabout way to get home, but a welcome one at that!
