This would be the pickup of the decade if we can land him.

Honolulu SPARQ All-Combine team
By Brian Stumpf
More than 450 athletes descended upon St. Louis School (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Saturday at the first Nike Football SPARQ Combine of the 2012 tour. While the turnout was the highest of any previous Nike Combine stops in the Aloha State and many athletes stood out, only 25 can make the first All-Nike Combine team of the year.
DL: Kennedy Tulimaseali'i, 6-1, 300, Waianae (Hawaii)
Results: 4.99 40, 4.75 shuttle, 43' PB, 25.2" VJ, 98.25 SPARQ
Breakdown: Is freakishly athletic for a defensive tackle and equally dominant in pads; already a two-time all-state selection.
Subject: 2013, 2014, AND 2015 UH FOOTBALL RECRUITINGWaianae (Hawaii) defensive tackle Kennedy Tulimaseali'i, a 6-foot-1, 300-pounder stunned onlookers by clocking a 4.99 40-yard dash on his way to a 98.25 SPARQ Rating.
An all-state selection in each of the past two seasons, Tulimaseali'i also threw the power ball 43 feet, good for second-best at the event. He stood out in the linemen 1-on-1 drills with his quick burst off the line, and physically looks like a fullback or linebacker, not a 300-pound defensive tackle.
"Right now I don't have any offers yet," said Tulimaseali'i, "but I'm hearing from Hawaii, Colorado, Alabama, Florida State, UCLA and some others."
"I'm going to try and get to the mainland in the summer for some college camps," said Tulimaseali'i, "I'm totally open to any school regardless of location."

Hope his grades and subject matter are as good. Gotta qualify academically before you can play athletically at the next level -- not just Kennedy, but all these high school stand-outs. Imagine how much talent would be coming out of the islands if they all were NCAA qualifiers with Algebra II.Small~Axe wrote:Really??? Best Recruit in 10 years??? I wonder if there's money to be made in coaching these kids to pass an Algebra II test?
Academics can be pretty ridiculous. Why would a student uninterested in engineering need a level of competence in Algebra II? In the real world, experts are called to do the number crunching. When did UH become a Tech school?
Yeah, I hate to see so much talent go to waste, because of some paper pusher's ideal.

The business guys need it so they can get through their business math classes. Also the physical and even social scientists need it so they can get through their stats work. This is still college after all. My problem is that there could be other math that could count, as opposed to only Algebra II - stats, skipping Algebra II and going straight to higher math, and the various applied maths.

Did somebody read somewhere that Kennedy would have a problem getting qualified? Or are we just assuming this because he is an uso from Waianae?

Good question. Why even mention it if there's not a worry. I mean its a given that we'd want EVERY recruit to qualify.bigislandkurt wrote:Did somebody read somewhere that Kennedy would have a problem getting qualified? Or are we just assuming this because he is an uso from Waianae?

Not a good sign... I'm not holding my breath this guy, even if he gives a verbal. Sounds like another Waianae DL a few years ago."I'm going to try and get to the mainland in the summer for some college camps," said Tulimaseali'i, "I'm totally open to any school regardless of location."
