Just speculating here....but gotta believe that at least one of the UH coaches must have some kind of connection with Rancho Cucamonga HS to make 3 scholarship offers (including Goodman).

Could be Chow and the new TE coach. Both used to coach at Ucla.kapakahi wrote:Just speculating here....but gotta believe that at least one of the UH coaches must have some kind of connection with Rancho Cucamonga HS to make 3 scholarship offers (including Goodman).

Could be....but not sure what the connection with UCLA would be since Rancho Cucamonga is located (in San Bernardino County) about 60 miles east of Westwood (in LA County).ABUNAI wrote:Could be Chow and the new TE coach. JMHO that whatever connection there might be is probably more than because of geographic proximity.

The Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) linebacker, Alani Latu, would like to play in college with his twin brother, Viliami....
Sounds like this should favor UH....IF Scout.com has correctly indicated their respective scholie offers....since UH is the only school to offer both Latu brothers thus far.Latu Has A Plan

Hopefully geographic proximity ultimately isn't a major factor in their choice of schools since San Diego (Qualcomm Stadium - formerly Jack Murphy Stadium) just about 80 miles south of Rancho Cucamonga.
BUT then again SDSU will be in the Big East Conference starting with 2013 season so only home games would be a comfortable driving distance.
Thus far only UH and SDSU have offered both Latu brothers.Brandon Huffman@BrandonHuffman

NLA 7on7: Linebacker Alani Latu

FOX Sports NEXT caught up with Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) linebacker Alani Latu at the New Level Athletics Elite 7on7 Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, to talk his five offers, top schools, and more.
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) linebacker Alani Latu spent his weekend at the New Level Athletics Elite 7on7 Tournament, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he played alongside twin brother Viliami Latu on team I.E. Elite.
Latu has racked up five offers thus far, and is really hoping that wherever he goes, he will be able to continue playing with Viliami.
“We’re really looking into trying to get in the same school. Every time a school comes to talk to me, I tell them that my brother and I are trying to go to the same school so if they offer me, they have to offer my brother. It’s great to play with somebody that you grew up with. Basically, we are thinking alike on the field,” he said.
San Diego State and Hawaii have offered both brothers, and they are programs that Latu is seriously considering.
“We’re trying to take a visit to Hawaii; I could see myself playing there. I actually liked the school growing up, especially since I’m Polynesian. The coaches said they want me and my brother to play coverage and they said they like having family members on the team,” he said.
Latu took a visit to San Diego State last Thursday and enjoyed his time on campus.
“They took us around and showed us campus. I like the environment and the weather is great. It’s a small school but I like that I won’t have to walk an hour to class. I got to talk with the coaches; SDSU likes to blitz a lot and on my highlight film, I’m blitzing half the time, so they are interested in that. They wanted me to play safety, actually. I’m really interested in San Diego State because I live about an hour away and it’s easier for my parents,” he said.
Latu also holds offers from Washington State, Colorado, and Oregon State, and is hoping to take some visits, but will probably wait until after his senior season, as he’s currently focusing on school and off-season training.
“Our team is getting faster and we’re getting stronger in the weight room. I’m there every night; I go in twice a day. I think my speed and my agility are my greatest strengths as a player, and I’m working on getting stronger and getting even faster,” he said.
The 6’2”, 210 lb. Latu is also hoping to get a bit bulkier and has high hopes for his senior season.
“I’m expecting a great team and a great defense. We have a lot of talent and a lot of young kids coming up, so I think we’ll be pretty great next year,” he said.

Very early in the recruiting process....BUT that statement sounds like Warriors will really have to battle SDSU for Latu brothers.Sportsbow wrote:LINK: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1171960.html

Unfortunately for UH, but definitely it looks as though geographic proximity is a major factor that will ultimately decide their choice of schools.Greg Biggins@GregBiggins
