Report: WVU trying to cut Florida State game
Posted by Ben Kercheval on January 6, 2012, 2:54 PM EST
.
.
.

But if WVU does make it to the Big 12, their non-conference schedule is going to have to be reduced by one game to fit the new conference slate (WVU was anticipating the arrival of TCU before the Horned Frogs went to the Big 12, so Big East football teams had four non-con games scheduled). According to the Tallahassee Democrat, WVU is trying to get out of its away game with Florida State ($) in anticipation of its own move to the Big 12

That game was scheduled to be at Florida... would we want to go on the road that far again? BUT, if they were willing to come here?

Sept 8th is the day Florida St would need a replacement game, same day that we have open

Difference is why do it to ourselves? What the MWC does, we have no control over. Scheduling two killer OOC games early on, we do have control over.

Fighting for a bowl game will be as tough as it is. I have no problem with playing FSU, but in 2012? Probably not a good idea.

We play Boise in Hawaii next year.

If Florida State is willing to come to Hawaii next year, I'd be all for it. We might end up with some pretty banged up Warriors with USC and Florida State to start off the year with.. but what an off-season incentive for the players to work their butts off.

Oops sorry, we play Boise at home, along with Nevada, New Mexico, UNLV, Lamar and South Alabama..

Season Opener vs FSU would almost guarantee a sell out. season opener vs. Lamar????

Finish 6-6 and play a CUSA team?
I would rather play a 13th game against the Noles win or lose, it would be more exciting than any CUSA team, including a JJ SMU team

I wonder who they play the week after. If its Murray State then maybe they'll come out. I went to their website. Hard to figure out who they play and when. Some games have dates, some OOC games there is no dates. But if they substitute a home game for a road game, they would want a big payout.

6-6 will be tough to attain, so I guess the Noles would make for a great "bowl game". I think attendance will be pretty solid no matter what. Interest is very high thanks to Norm, but FSU would be a guaranteed sellout.
