Re: FIRST DOMINO: Rumors Of A P10 Expansion W/6 From B12!!!
Here's si.com's main college football writer Stewart Mandell Tweet on Boise possibly getting an invite to MWC tomorrow. BTW, if Colorado gets screwed out of the PAC16 because of Texas politics (shoving Baylor down everyones throats...again), IMO Colorado goes to MWC and that seals a BCS for conference:
RT @slmandel: Mtn. West expected to invite Boise St at meetings tomorrow. ... Maybe toss one Colorado's way while you're at it?

Re: FIRST DOMINO: Rumors Of A P10 Expansion W/6 From B12!!!
Check out this thread on the Rutgers' Rivals.com site. Especially check out the link to the article that basically says that all of this is a 'high stakes poker match' between Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, Big 12, Big 10, and Pac 10. And the winner of this match will face Notre Dame on the old 'Superstars Obstacle Course.'

Two notes about expansion
1. The NCAA requires *6* teams to have played together to be a conference. So, if the Big 12 loses 7 teams, they lose their TV contracts, bowl agreements, NCAA basketball spots, and everything else that a conference gives. If the WAC loses BSU and 3 other teams (La Tech, Nevada, and Fresno State all want to leave), then the WAC will cease to exist. The teams left behind from the disbanded conference will NOT get the exit fees since the conference will no longer exist.
http://voices.idahostatesman.com/2010/0 ... ave_league
2. This is all about *regular-season* TV money and has very little to do with BCS bowl money. The second team from an AQ conference just earns $4.5 million for their conference. The Capital One bowl pays $4.25 million and a lot of bowls are at $3 million or more. Many bowl payouts (such as the Cotton Bowl) look to be going up significantly, so teams from Big Conference may soon be able to earn more money for their conference by going to a non-BCS bowl. So, AQ conferences may not care if they are limited to 2 BCS bowl spots.
Remember, BCS bowls require schools to have their teams and a lot of others (band, cheerleaders, officials) to stay for a long time at the bowl city to go to all of the special events like they had before the Sugar Bowl. That costs a *LOT* of money, so the profit from a BCS bowl may be less than what conferences get from many "lesser-tier" bowls.

When this first came out last week, I thought it was the usual "what if?" questions we always go through every year...with all of this going on...WOW.
I was just about to post this.
This is more than just a rumor.
Apparently, Nebraska and Missouri have until Friday to let the Big 12 know if they'll accept an invite or not to the Big 10. And the PAC-10 schools have authorized the PAC-10 Commish to look into expansion, specifically, inviting those specifically named teams from the Big 12.

Here's an interesting thought by SI.com's Stewart Mandel on his Twitter page, which for some reason escaped most of us:
"RT@slmandel: Why does everyone assume the Big Ten would invite Missouri but not Kansas? Why is Mizzou being assumed at all?"
Hmmm. Better basketball history/program for the B10, football team is decent, and would be bordered by Nebraska, which is required to be bordered next to a state of a B10 team (unless you're Texas, lol).

I've been reading posts and videos about the "Mizzou to the Big Tenleven" matter and there've been Mizzou and KU students hoping that the two stay in the Big 12. Even though the Border War would still exist, it wouldn't have the same meaning. I'd rather have Kansas and Mizzou go together because that rivalry today is as strong as ever. Besides, who in the Big Ten can rival the Tigers the way the Jayhawks do in the Big 12?tico brown wrote:Here's an interesting thought by SI.com's Stewart Mandel on his Twitter page, which for some reason escaped most of us:

Re: FIRST DOMINO: Rumors Of A P10 Expansion W/6 From B12!!!
Missouri and Illinois haven't had any problems playing games as OOC games. Pretty good crowds last couple of seasons. But in the long run, if B10 had a choice between Missouri basketball and Kansas' storied program with the bigger canvases nationwide ($$$), it would be a no brainer. I'm assuming that the B10 didn't anticipate the P10 to be the one to have the potential to pull the trigger on the head of the B12 with the texas thing. Otherwise, Kansas and Nebraska would be a coup for B10.gopunahou wrote:I've been reading posts and videos about the "Mizzou to the Big Tenleven" matter and there've been Mizzou and KU students hoping that the two stay in the Big 12. Re: Two notes about expansion
Boise St. wasn't invited to the MWC. Good for them. MWC probably is seeing what's going to happen to the Big 12 and try to merge with the remaining members if they get raided.

Your thread has a vague title about dominoes falling....and the Pac!0.
Garrett's thread (this one) discusses the technicalities of Expansion in general.
The sport's forum rarely has multiple discussions about the same topic.
In fact, the sport's forum rarely has multiple discussions in any one day.
Either way, the MOD's have a pretty good handle on the traffic without your help.
Even though we may not see eye to eye on most subjects, I do appreciate your enthusiasm for sports and Warrior football.
Welcome back. It's been a while. Oh...and sorry for the eye rolls.

The Mountain West Conference is not expanding as Commissioner Craig Thompson announced Monday (9/7/10).
I do wonder what would be the repercussions of Boise St. leaving the WAC and actually joining the MWC. I heard rumors that maybe the WAC might end up being disbanded and teams being spread throughout the other conferences. I also heard other rumors that the WAC might be looking to add more members to their conference (maybe some FCS schools.) But in the end, we won't know what will happen until someone makes the first move. Though I still think Boise St. will get an invitation to the MWC, and Commissioner Craig Thompson is just waiting to see what happens first.

Re: THE UNOFFICIAL THREAD of ALL Possible Conference Expansi
Interesting rumors on the Colorado boards tonight. Apparently, the Colorado Board of Regents are meeting tonight. The rumor is that they are ready to bolt for the PAC 10. They do not want their spot to be replaced by Baylor due to the political power of the Baylor grads in the Texas legislature like what happened when those guys forced Texas to include Baylor when the Big XII was formed.
Most of the PAC 10 members do not want Baylor.
Apparently the rumor is that PAC 10 expansion plan A was a 16 team conference that included Texas.
If this fell through...then Plan B is a PAC 12 would be formed that included Colorado and Utah.
