IF IT FEELS THAT THIS PLAY-BY-PLAY ACCOUNT OF THE SCRIMMAGE GIVE AN UNDUE ADVANTAGE TO THE OPPOSING TEAM. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL STOP DOING THE PLAY-BY-PLAY.

One-on-one drills between the OL and DL

From what I have seen so far, DL really owns this drill. Pepa looks good. He and along with some of the first stringers who has been the most consistent on the OL on this drill. I have been impressed with J. Loeffler as a LT. He is the guy that have caught my eye during this drill. From the many practices that I have attended this spring, I don’t recall him ever losing a one-on-one battle. The guys that impresses me on the DL during this drill is Ryan “the beast” Eastman, and two DEs that have their jersey’s turned inside out. I know one of them is Earvin Sione and I believe the other guy is Waylon Lolotai. Ryan just seems to be able to find a way to get through. He has good techniques Not so impressed with one OL. I won’t name who he is but he just gets flat out beat all the time. He needs to move his feet.
Highlight of the day will go to David Hafoka. The OG was so blown away that Hafoka stopped going after the would be QB once he got passed the OG at the line of scrimmage.

April 26, 2010 Practice Report

Today was sort of a mellow and if I would guess that is to prepare for the Warrior Bowl this Saturday at Ching Field at 7 pm preceded by a 2 hour autograph session with the football players at 5 pm. Should be a busy day on the lower campus, so plan ahead on getting there early.

Practice started with some stretching while the punters and kickers were practicing what they do best. After warm up, the offense and defense split up. The offense was on the Les Murakami side of the the 50 yd line while the defense was on the parking structure side of the 50 yd line. Offense ran their usual drill, the what I termed "organized chaos." If you don't know what that means, look back to my first post, which is on the first page of this thread. The defense on the other hand also did their routine work out where they had four groups rotating every five or so minutes. These consisted of stripping the ball from the quarterback, stripping the ball from a carrier, tackling drill, and etc.

Once the horn sounded the defense again parted to their respective coaches where they worked on fundamentals. The offense split up into three groups. The receivers and QBs were one unit playing catch the ball. The RBs worked on their blocking and running while the offense worked out the kinks.

Another horn sounded and the offense and defense met together mid-field where they had 7-on-7 drills. There were a number of dropped balls then usual today. Dustin Blount made my "highlight of the day" where he caught an almost impossible catch with one hand. Royce Pollard had a TD. David Graves had an INT.

There was 11-on-11 drill today but like I said was pretty mellow as they really couldn't go full speed.

Here's my play-by-play

Austin would've been tackled by L. Satele
Rausch passe to B.R. Stutzmann
Graves to RB (??)
Shutter to WR (??)
Austin to RB (??)
Graves passes to Salas
Austin passes to Iosefa
Austin sacked by Umu
Rausch passes to B.R. Stutzmann
Graves passes to Boulnt
Shutter passes to B.R.
Austin passes to Salas
Rausch passes to J. Clapp
Graves passes to Blount
Shutter passes to D. Bright
Austin passes to Salas
End of practice

Kapono Rawlins-Crivello and Aulola Tonga are practicing with the LBs.

After practice, Shutter and R. Bradley were working out together. DBs were working on their tackling. DLs were practicing rushing the QB. And, oh yeah, the team was practicing punt blocking also during practice.

Almost forgot, R. Bradley was on the 7-on-7 drills. Still looks good. C. Nielsen has been taking mental reps the past few practices.
