Started all 14 games at defensive end…tallied 62 total tackles, including 31 solo, and 9.5 for loss (47 yards)…also posted 3.5 sacks (30 yards) and seven quarterback hurries…ranked fifth in the WAC with three fumble recoveries, including two against Nevada (Oct. 25)…career-high eight tackles against San Jose State (Sept. 27).
2007:
Appeared in 11 games at defensive end...totaled 24 tackles, including 3.5 for loss...had three sacks and two forced fumbles...career-high five tackles against New Mexico State (Oct. 27).
2006:

- Quote by the College Football News: “A rangy 6-3, 233-pound speedster, Fonoti will get the start on the strongside where he should be one of the team's top tacklers. He has the wheels to be used as a pass rusher like an extra defensive end, but he has to prove he can be a closer once he gets a bead on a quarterback”

Played in nine games...was in on seven tackles (5 solo).
Prep:
A 2005 graduate of Farrington High School in Honolulu, O`ahu...an all-league honorable mention selection as a senior...coached by Randall Okimoto...runs a 4.7 40-yard dash and power cleans 245 pounds...played in the HUD Goodwill Classic and named Defensive Player of the Game in the Samoa Bowl.
Also participated two years in basketball, earning honorable mention all-star status, and one year in track where he won the OIA East shot put championship
Chose Hawaii over UNLV, Utah and San Jose State.
