Played in all 14 games...part of kickoff coverage unit and also saw time as back-up running back...carried the ball 21 times for 91 yards...career-high nine carries for 54 yards, including a 19-yard scamper in win against Weber State (Sept. 6)...recorded four tackles on special teams...also had two fumble recoveries...recovered a fumble in road win at nationally ranked Fresno State (Oct. 4)...also returned a fumble for 11 yards in regular-season finale against nationally ranked Cincinnati (Dec. 6).

- Named the Scout Team Special Teams Player of the Year

2005:
- Redshirted. Was the #1 RB on the Scout Team against the Starting Defense

- Earned three letters in football and two in baseball
- Senior Year (’04-’05) Led Kamehameha to their 1st ILH & STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in 28 years. Led the ILH in rushing with 937 yards and 13 TD (7 regular season games) and was as 2nd in the State with 1,537 yds and 17 TDs (NOTE: 7 TDs and 900 yds rushing was nullified due to holding penalties). Was named 2004 ILH AND State “Offensive Player of the Year” by both the Star Bulletine & Advertiser. Also finished the year with a 3.6 GPA.

- Junior Year (’03-’04) - Returned to Kamehameha where got limited playing time. Highlight was scoring the first TD of the game (35 yards run) against St Louis in the ILH Championship Game

- Soph Year (’02-’03) – Transferred to Baldwin and played RB on the MIL Championship Team. Started the season with an ankle injury, but played in the last three regular season games scoring a TD in each game and running for 310 yards on only 7 touches. Also Lettered in Canoe Paddling for both JV and varsity (which went on to the win the States for their ages of 16 Under & Over)

Born Jan. 16, 1987, in Honolulu. Has a younger brother (Jordan) and an older sister (Brittany)...parents are Evelyn and Jayson Rego Sr., of Wailuku, Maui.
- Father (Jayson, Sr.) is a Detective with over 20 year with the Maui Police Department. He was a ‘79 grad of Farrington, where he was an All Star Linebacker on a team that included Jesse Sapolu, Falaniko Noga, Matt Mokiau, & Buddy Evans.
- Cousin, Kaluka Maiava (former USC LB) grew up playing pop warner with Jayson and was on the 2002 Baldwin Team together. Incidentally in their senior year, the Star Bulletin had Jayson was the State Offensive Player of the Year and Kaluka was the State Defensive Player of the year.
- Currently pursuing a civil engineering degree
- Was offered a scholarship by Oregon State, that was later rescinded for unknown reasons. Was given offers for multiple JC's including Linfield, Williamette, Menlo, West Hills (to name a few). Was given walkons invites to Utah, New Mexico State, Nevade, and UNLV.

Was not offered from UH, but decided to stay home and tryout. After practicing with the team for a few weeks, he impressed the Coaches and was offered a Walk on by Coach Miano and JJ.

- Known by his friends and family on Maui as "BABA REGO", since he was a baby
- Has played football since he was eight years old for the WAILUKU RAINBOW WARRIORS, as a running back & middle linebacker, where he led them to 3 Maui Junior Pee Wee Championships, 3 Maui Pee Wee Championships, and 1 Midget Championship, which included 2 State Championships. WAILUKU RAINBOWS wore the same uniforms as UH, before JJ made the changes.
- Has also been an Maui All Star Baseball Player since he was 8 years old, playing on 3 Little League All Star Teams, 1 Pony Mustang All Star Team, 2 Pony Bronco All Star Teams, and 2 Pony All Star teams.
- His brother, Jordan, is also a Running Back and All Star baseball Player who was on the 2001 Maui Pony Bronco STATE, WEST CON, and WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.
- Before High School, he also played a lot of basketball, taking his Summer League team to 3 league Championships under Maui Judge Joel August for 2 year and Coach Angus Peters 1 year. for ages 12,13, &14. In High school he stuck with only Football,
Baseball, & Canoe Paddling
- Enjoys playing guitar and singing, playing Soccer, Surfing, Bodyboarding, & Diving
