Owens Best ever?
So do you guys think Owens has established himself as the best WR ever at the University of Hawaii? 283 yds in what was probbably in the top 5 of important home games.
I think Owens is definately a top 3-5 wide reciever at Hawaii. Definately the best kick returner we've ever had.
BUT
This has been a great run, but Lelie was unstoppable in every game he played in his junior season. Every one. He's gotta be numero uno.
And man. Is it too late to make Owens Big Ten player of the year? Or on the all-big ten first team?

He will be the only player in UH history to make the NFL hall of fame.Kobayashi wrote:silent assassin wrote:Top 10 players in the modern era:

I think Ulbrich is missing from the list. I think he'd edge out Mark Odom. I loved the guy with his "X" after the sacks, but Jeff beed doing it in the NFL so far!

Elam is also still the Hawaii scoring leader, I forget how much the dude said Ayat was behind. Elam also has 2 superbowl rings and is tied for the NFL record long FG at 63. He is also the all-time NFL leader in extra point percentage at 99.6%, he's missed 2 out of 480 career attempts. Also, as far as his career here, I believe he single handedly brought us to that bowl in 92 or whatever it was. It was good having an automattic 3 points everytime we crossed the 30-35 yard line. I had hoped Ayat would be the next great after his freshman year but it didnt turn out that way. I would put Sapolu higher on that particular list though, maybe around 4th. He does have 5 rings.

Why do you have Timmy Chang listed twice? Maybe you should take Chang out of the number 6 spot, move everyone down and add in Travis Laboysilent assassin wrote:Top 10 players in the modern era:

sorry about listing chang twice, that's because i was messing with the order so much. how about miano? or blaine gaison? or sydner? maa tanuvasa? even eddie klaneski was a great player on God awful teams.
i left off ulbrich mostly because he only truly had 1 great year. he missed most of his jr year with an acl tear.

I'd definitely have Laboy on the list.
I'd also try to squeeze Nate Jackson in there. I'll not soon forget his big hit on Carr, causing a fumble in the late moments to beat Fresno State.
Pisa's hit on the BYU quarterback on the 1 yard line (breaking his ribs I've been told) and Hawaii beating then unbeaten BYU is another great memory.
