How do you feel Hawaii's defense performed tonight against La Tech?

Run defense.... F

Pass defense .... A+

After watching the number 1 defense in the country play, Alabama, and then watching Hawaii play, i noticed a few things about the Warriors defense.

1. Lack of size. Our defense looks like a bunch of little shorties out there, how can we stop the run with all these undersized guys?

2. Lack of speed. Warriors get beat to the corner too many times.

3. No pre-snap defensive stunts. Alabama defense moves all over the place before the snap..... Bama will appear to send 3 linebackers and both safeties, yet they will all drop back into coverage a few seconds before the snap to throw the qb off. There is always someone stunting, tons of movement. Hawaii appears to be stuck in concrete before the snap, there is never any movement of any sort.

They have lots to improve upon. When you look at the numbers they were pretty unimpressive.

But they made plays when needed to to keep LaTech from scoring 30, always my measuring point. LaTech got lots of yardage, but had to try many 3rd downs and didn't convert a large amount of them. That's what matters most.

It was nice to see some of the new guys getting in and actually making a difference.

Kobayashi's right about the stunting. We need to cause more confusion. When we get shredded on the ground, it isn't so much a speed issue as it is a getting blocked issue.
Now sometimes our defenders will be in decent position to make a play only to get beat by a cut or juke or to have the ball carrier just slip out of their grasp... that's also a problem.

Our defense needs to show much more aggression and disdain toward the opponents. Hope we see it in Fresno.

Oh and the offense wasn't really that good. They had their strong moments but....

4 punts, 2 turnovers, 20 first downs, 371 total yards (didn't that used to be like our passing average?), 285 passing, 86 rushing (which is good for 20 carries), 27 points. Not that impressive.

Could have easily lost this game if the defense didn't do the things they did.
