"We had our chances, we just weren't able to close it," said Hawaii coach Dave Shoji.

"This loss definitely hurts our chances to win the conference, but we get both Northridge and Long Beach at home. It's a long way to go and anything can happen, but we have to get better. Every match is critical for us now," Shoji said.

"You're not going to win very many matches hitting like that," said Shoji.

This year’s passing woes will most likely be the norm for the rest of year (hopefully not as bad as this past road game at Northridge--that was the worst display of passing ever by a Wahine’ team), so the Wahine’ outside hitters will have to start using a wider array of shots (dinks, hard angles, high hands, etc.) versus trying to overwhelm the block with heat every time….and when presented with a one-on-one situation, the hitters will have to deliver--to many wide open shots going wide or long.

And, the serving will have to improve big time…this past road trip, especially versus Long Beach State, to many back-to-back-to-back serving errors.

The losses to Arizona State, Oregon State, UCLA and Long Beach State (*even with Taylor hitting for 0.91%, Greeley .103%, and Manu-Olevao for 0.54%) were all winnable games. No Ifs or Buts, at Northridge the Wahine was out-played in all facets of the game. Northridge played like “a past Wahine team ranked in the top 5” handily dismantling and unranked conference foe with ease.
