Bottom Of the 9th, Come From Behind Win For 'Bows

Post by GoBows2014 »

you gotta' believe!

seems in decades past, coming from behind in the bottom of the ninth was no big deal. Last couple seasons? Didn't happen so much.

Tonight, first in the series against Alabama-Birmingham, it was really fun. Matt Cooper on the hill, obviously not one of his better nights. Andrew Jones in relief, really not having a good night either, in a game that was all small ball thru 7, they lit Andrew up for 3 runs in the 8th. Looked like game over for the 'Bows. But bottom of the 9th, scratched their way back in, one run at a time.

Adam "Hitman" Hurley delivers the hit that ties the game. They walk Trevor Podratz (not intentionally, just that Trevor has been tough at the plate lately, hits or walks). Then Austin Wobrock (SS) with bases loaded in a tie game with 2 outs? Delivers the winning hit. Wow!

Magic in Manoa, you just gotta' believe! Oceanic should have this one on film for everyone, enjoy!

Bullpen gotta step up! Almost blew another game in the late innings. Great comeback though

yeah, reignjah11, no joke.

When you have a 2 run lead in late innings, all you need is a couple good innings of relief. But 'Bows don't have much in the 'pen for middle or end of the game this year. Eric Glease has been OK, and he is about the best we've got with MidPac's Lawrence Chu out for the season?

But for lack of relief, blessing in disguise is that we have a *ton* of starters, so they could essentially come in as early as 2nd or 3rd inning and go the distance. Or like Big Island boy #10 Quentin, he warms up quick, throws strikes early, might develop into the best closer since Linsky since we are into the 3-game weekends in Big West.

Love the predicament Coach Trapp has this year. So many good pitchers, so many hitters for UH. Just needs to stitch together tight "D" to keep those winning combos going like he did against UCSB...we're gonna' need to win a bunch of 1- and 2-run games to go all the way.

Go 'Bows!
