Adam "HitMan" Hurley *DELIVERS* !!!

Post by GoBows2014 »

UH-Nevada, Game 3, Sunday, March 16th, 2014

Fun game. Weather really nice, only a little breezy, total change from last nights freezing rain and windstorm. Two of our best pitchers on the hill, Jarret Arakawa to open it and Quentin Torres-Costa (a surprise, but in relief) to win it.

Some of THE most amazing "D" of the season this year. Austin Wobrock, playing short, on a really *hard* chop up the middle. Well it was on the 1B side of second. High in the air, really high. First Austin does this amazingly *insane* vertical leap, fully outstretched, to get his glove on the ball. The somehow, magic toes or something, manages to get his foot on 2nd base (which is behind and to his left by about 3'), then finally lands on earth, and STILL gets the throw to 1st to turn the DP.

If not THE best defensive play in college ball in many years? I'd still rank it #1, sure hope someone has that on film, that was too crazy good not to record for posterity.

But great "D" all night. Total absolute "Willie Mays" catch a few innings later in the game, and pretty solid D for the 'Bows all night. Arakawa on the hill, still a little rusty, but got us through 6? Treat of the night? Getting to see Quentin Torres-Costa, looked absolutely hot in warmup, then toned it down and looked a little too tame pitching for real. If he used his warmup pitches against Nevada they would not have hit him at all.

But gem of the day...and really great day for baseball, sunny, clear, some breeze and a little cool, but in a 1 run game that was 2-1 for Nevada for way too many innings? We had put men on time and time again, but couldn't deliver.

This time, with two men on? It was Adam Hurley, #12 at the plate. I like to call him "HitMan" Hurley, well, coz, he can hit! And boy oh boy, with money on the table, two men on, Adam delivered tonight! HUGE two run double that won it for the 'Bows. Nice hitting Adam!

Arakawa, then Torres-Costa on the hill. Good D, and two defensive gems that should put those boyz up for golden gloves. And Adam Hurley *crushing* a base clearing double to win it?

Probably one of the best games of the year for the 'Bows, shame OC16 was not there today.

'Bows Fan Out
