BaseBows - New Student Assistant Coach

Post by Ulchiro5ga »

Per Hawaiiathletics.com - Landon Hernandez will work with the catchers after his pro season ends. He is returning to school in the off-season to complete his degree.

What's the scouting report on the baseball team in 2014? I hear they got a guy from California coming to UH to play LF, and he is still a freshmen. What's the deal on him. 6-2 in height and just off high school there. This 2014 he should be expected to play if he shows up. Is this news still around? Just curious on the status of the new team or recruits.

Baseball America had a couple of sentences on Hawaii's recruits. Recruiting class is not rated, and mentions that they got hit hard by the MLB draft. However, it mentions recruits to note: Marcus Doi, Jordan Richartz and Eric Gleese. If you look at the baseball page on HawaiiAthletics.com, it has the 2014 roster. The names without pictures are the newcomers.

Schedule looks relative good. They open with Oregon. Have series against Albany, Pepperdine and road trip to Texas. Have series with New York Institute of Technology in between conference series. I forget who else in non-conference. The Big West will at least two teams ranked (e.g., Fullerton and Cal Poly), so even the conference games will be tough.

Hopefully Arakawa and Quetin-Torres can bounce back from their injuries. If yes, then hopefully pitching will be strong.

This guy has been starting for 2 years now. He owns the position LF. Can Matt Miller beat him out for a LF spot?
