HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team finished the 2012 season ranked No. 13 nationally in home attendance, and first in the west region. The ranking is four spots higher than in 2011, and the highest in six years.

“This is a testament to the great fans we have in Hawai'i and how they support our program,” said UH Head Coach Mike Trapasso, who has been at the helm of the Rainbows for 11 years. “We try and play an attractive schedule and put a great product on the field, but the fans have come out regardless. Being in the Top 20 nationally and No. 1 in the region is a great source of pride for our program.”

UH averaged 3,340 per game with a grand total of 116,909 for the season in 35 contests.

2013 will mark a new era in Rainbow baseball, as the team plays its first season as a member of the Big West Conference. The 'Bows open the 2013 season in mid-February, with the complete schedule to be released at a later date.

The Rainbows concluded the 2012 season at 30-25, their fourth straight season with 30 or more wins.
