Now that you have a deal Coach Nash, it's time to bring in the recruits that will help us start winning.

JD was on the sportsanimals this afternoon.
He said he considered these factors for any coach at UH.
- the type of student athlete they get.
- are they going to represent UH, Hawaii well
- is the coach serious about helping the students
- will the coach follow ncaa, univ and state rules
- good in the community
- act as a good member of the athletic department team
- do they win

he said that coach nash was good in all except the last one but he knew and took into account the lack of recruiting coach nash had due to late hire and how it hurt him.
he did like what coach nash did with the 2 recruits we did get last year in flemings and adams.

jd thought they we were a couple players away too. guards. need guards, as we were good in the post, winning 27 of 29 games rebounding. (wow, he knows these details. i bet HF never knew any stats)

he knew this needed to be done to be able to recruit. he didn't want to have other teams using that against uh by saying that we were unable to confirm the coach's status.
he said it was very easy to work with coach on the agreement

dang, we're going to have another late game for the espn 24 hour thing. probably at 11pm again if espn decides to do it again.

Thanks chawan_cut for the recap. Jim Donovan knows it's a big difference getting the extension two weeks prior to LOI day rather than getting hired two days after.

Wow, it's great to know we have a competent AD that knows what's going on! Thank you JD. :D

This sad Hawaii team was a few players short of being mediocre... They are one "coach" away from being decent.... Need a "good" coach to get "good" players to succeed....

Nash is a "good" towel waving cheerleader.... We need a "coach" who teaches how to execute at the end of games and how to run a fast break. We need a "coach" who teaches a complex offense and doesn't simplify/dumb down the offense. If our players can't handle Riley Wallace's offense, then Nash is to blame for recruiting "slow to learn" players.......

Don't expect those two speedy guards to catch on quickly either. The players we have now haven't caught on in one or two years......... Bobby "The Bows' have really improved this year" Curren is probably predicting a Sweet Sixteen appearance next year because he stated on his morning show that the Bows' were a couple of players away from being really good..... I almost puked after hearing that bull...........

Before you can really assess any coach I believe you need to give him all the tools he needs from player personnel to coaching personnel. When a coach is installed at the last minute after the recruiting period, you won't get that for three to four years. What you do get are recruits that were overlooked or went unrecruited, you also may not get the supporting coaching staff you want. They may be good but they may take time to learn the system along with the new players. Everyone under a new coach is a first year player.

I willing to wait a couple more years to see how it all pans out. There's no guarantee that the next coach would be any better or cheaper. "Better" coaches are hard to come by at the prices that UH is willing to dish out.

Maybe BC was talking like if we had Ty Lawson at Point Guard and Tyler Hansbrough to help out Flemming :D
