Where are all the inner city Chicago recruits? Isn't that the area that Larry Farmer had the connections for us to recruit in? It seems like we are just hitting up the same pipelines for the RW era. Jackson Wheeler needs to expand his recruiting regions. Maybe it's time to bring on the Brandyn Akana from BYUH with his brother's connections we could bring in some decent international recruits like how we had with Scott Rigot in our glory days.

Nash has got to use what God has given him. He's got a good heart and is a family man. Parents of recruits will appreciate that. Look at Bobby Nash, not only did he want to play for his father, but he didn't want to live on campus, he rather live at home with his parents (probably another consideration is that it's Hawaii Loa ridge). Somebody has to tell Nash, "Dude your black, use that as your recruiting angle." Play the race card and start bringing in the athletic inner city kids who will bring to this program what we have yearned for.

STOP BRINGING IN THESE WHITE PLAYERS LIKE LASHA, JESPERSEN & BALOCKA. WE NEED ATHLETES.
nice one smooth...yup, lets use the race card to get some players...what an idiot i tell you, that's one of the dumbest suggestions i heard in a long time...i just want nash to get some D1 caliber players...i dont care where the player is from...if the guy can ball, than im all for it...just beacuse a player is athletic and all, dont mean chit now days...need players who are up to the challenge and put hawaii back on the map...RW may have been old school, but uncle got most out of his players and produced W's...team roster has some players roght now except for maybe 2/3...nash and co. has to bring a true PG, a SG/W that can score and take pressure of flemmings, and a legit 6'9/6'10 true post player who can run and bang under the boards...if nash can do that, we should be okay...
Either your with us or against us!

Pinoy, screw you.

First off, I liked Wallace. I mean he didn't get grade A Div. 1 talent, but he got players that he thought would fit nicely in his system and it worked. Like how you said he got the most out of what he had. I like RW, I mean his brand of basketball isn't the most fun to watch but the dude won games. I would take Wallace over Nash anyday because the dude had a plan and executed and produced Ws.

Now Nash is not a great X's and O's guys. He was a good player which doesn't always translate to a good coach. What he has to do is take his strengths and put them to use. He is a great father figure, a role model guy, he has to use that in his recruiting process. It just so happens that he is black too, another positive as most of the best basketball players are black as well, and most of their parents would probably want them to play for a african american family man before some white coach if they had the chance.
Steven Bjornstad?

Post by hst24seven »

Wonder if we'd consdier. Interesting potential prospect. Steven wants out of Reno without Fox. Seems Nevada not giving in yet.

Might not be eligible until 2o1o and also HS assistant coach states he would not consdier another WAC school.

Steven Bjornstad | C
Hometown Vancouver, WA
High School Columbia River High School
Position rank Center # 35
Height 6'10"
Weight 225 lbs.
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiti ... Id%3d67225
September, 2008: Like most bigs Bjornstad is a late-developing prospect with a significant amount of upside. He has a terrific frame with long arms and he possesses decent bounce and better-than-average quickness for a player his size. His offensive game is still developing, but he has terrific hands and great mobility. He scores most of his points on put-backs, but he has a high basketball IQ and overall a great feel for the game. He needs to get stronger and continue to polish his post skills, but after one year getting acclimated to the college game, Bjornstad should have an outstanding career at Nevada because his upside is considerable.

Using the race card to get players is not a good move.

Let's think about this for a moment. Did Coack K waste scholarships on Laetnner and Hurley?......Ummmm...Oh Yeah!...He might be two or three national championships short without them.

Well....let's see....maybe the Celtics won so many NBA titles despite the contributions of Bob Cousy, John Havlicek,Kevin McHale, Larry Bird,Dave Cowens, etc....er ...OK,maybe those guys actually helped those teams.

Alright, lets make it local then......Have white kids ever done anything for a local prep team?......Omigosh......I think James Alegre, one of the all-time winningest hoop coaches in the state would be short one state championship. His 68-69 team had an all-white starting five. ...and if those guys weren't playing up to his expectations,he would insert the second five which went something like this... samoan, hawaiian, mexican, black...so it's not only about blacks and whites....maybe every kid has some contribution to make. Why don't we give everyone a chance to play if they have the talent?
