 lack of effort?
Coach Nash, if you are going to rip your players for what you feel is a "lack of effort", then why don't you give some of your other guys a chance to play? Lutu and Ji combined for 27 minutes @ Nevada and the effort there was good. against Fresno? 8 minutes combined. what's up with that? why stick with Mayen so much? do you forget that there are guys sitting on the bench that you are allowed to use?
you know, in the PAL league you are required to play each player at least 2 minutes per period. maybe they have a spot open for you.

 Re: lack of effort?
Somebody needs to lit a fire under Flemmings! Guy has the talent but lacks intensity and motivation. He's dreaming if he's going to make it in the NBA. Should be dominating in the weak WAC, however, he dogs it at times! Nash cannot motivate his players during the course of a game. He actually looks bewildered at times.

I agree with this post, but likely for different reasons.
I think playing Lutu and Ji would help the "lack of interest" problem that seems to be plaguing UH basketball right now.
I, for one, have been waiting for an opportunity to see the Chinese guy play. If he has played when the games happen to be on free TV, I've missed those times. BUT, if Nash would put out the word publicly that, "the Chinese guy will definitely play," publicly, then I would be sure to watch. . . .assuming it was on free TV. Just for the novelty of it. I've been waiting a couple of years now to see the Chinese guy play, but I never have.
As to Lutu, I remember his Dad well, and the once or twice I have seen him play, he is a sparkplug out there. Sure, I saw that he gets a bit wild and throws the ball away, but, so do the other players who play a lot, but I have very little to no interest in watching play. I think the local angle Lutu brings would make it interesting to watch, and his style of play definitely makes it more entertaining.
Short of bringing in a dwarf or dressing in the team uniform to coach (a la baseball and Bill Veek), Nash needs to do something to make UH basketball something other than a distant memory for UH fans. . . .
I say play the Chinese guy and the kid with local ties to stoke fan interest. Couldn't make things any worse. . . .
Also, could have vili show up and have the sweat wiping kids follow him around and clean up his trail the entire time. . . . .

I'm glad you brought that up. remember that Nash is the guy who chose not to have a midnight ohana this year. he doesn't care much for generating fan interest... and it is showing. but then again, nothing drums up fan interest like winning does.

They could also put more coupons in danged blimp thing that flies around during halftime. . . .
They could get The Who to play at halft. . . . . . ah, screw that. . .
They could . . . .
. . . . . . .
. . . .I'd say their best bet is to let the Chinese guy play the whole game. . . .
